I was desperate for a parlux but bought a nicky Clarke Mayfair one because it was cheaper. It's brilliant really brilliant.

sedgieloo · 11/12/2011 20:16

ggirl, that is the one I have, its is brilliant. Definitely encourage you to get it if you have a lot of hair, much faster drying time.

IfYouSeeKaySanta · 11/12/2011 20:25

I have an ancient Parlux. Must be 8 or 9 years old now and still going strong. Well worth the money.

ggirl · 11/12/2011 20:37

thanks girls
don't have thick hair but do have a loads of fine hair

I am desperate for one! Are the nozzles very concentrated? I like to be able to direct the flow of air in one place.

ggirl · 13/12/2011 19:09

I reallly cannot decide whether to get one or not.

Do they cut out when they get too hot? I really hate hairdryers that do that (yes, I know why they do but I'll decide when it's too hot)

IfYouSeeKaySanta · 13/12/2011 19:39

Nozzles are very concentrated. I actually don't like it as I like to blast dry quickly and the nozzle is too directional for me so I just remove it.

And mine has never, ever cut out on me. They're designed for heavy use in professional salons and can stand up to use at high temperature for prolonged periods.

valiumredhead · 13/12/2011 23:17

Ah sounds like it'll be good for me then, thanks :)

valiumredhead · 14/12/2011 15:33

I have just had my hair cut and was asking about them. Hairdresser said they last for years - she'd had hers for 8! I am getting the one up from the one you want gg but that's because I have REALLY thick hair. Am looking now for the cheapest deal.

ggirl · 15/12/2011 13:16

valium-have you found a cheap deal??

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 13:21

Had a quick look but they are all similar prices tbh.

TracyK · 15/12/2011 13:23

I don't like a hairdryer that is too hot - would this be too hot for me? I dry my hair everyday and is quite fine and bleached.
Is this one of the ion type ones?

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 13:24

Some of them are ION ones and the heat is very controllable, there's a good selection.

ggirl · 15/12/2011 13:36

thanks valium
tracy I don't think they get too hot
they're quite powerful though..I think

OP posts:
IfYouSeeKaySanta · 15/12/2011 13:50

There are 2 heat and speed settings on mine. The lower heat setting is much too cool for my liking (I have thick hair and lots of it!) but would probably suit you perfectly, TracyK.

mrsravelstein · 15/12/2011 13:52

i've got that one, it's very good, hairdresser rec'd it to me, i have long very very thick hair and that one doesn't overheat on me.

valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 14:03

I need one with a cool shot button or cold setting to 'set' my style.

ggirl · 15/12/2011 14:08

so do I valium
I thought they all had a cool button

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 15/12/2011 14:38

Do they? Good! Which sites have you been looking at? Some are more detailed than others I am finding and so I have only seen the lime green eco one which has a cool shot.

ggirl · 15/12/2011 15:15

i don't know for sure ..am assuming Grin
have only looked on one site so far

OP posts:
ggirl · 19/12/2011 19:31

right have decided on this one
better be good

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 23/12/2011 11:46

I have some unexpected Xmas money - I am going to get one for sure! Grin

Let me know how you get on with your gg

ggirl · 23/12/2011 12:39

can't wait to try it
hope I'm not disappointed

Hi - I have started using a 3200 compact.

Its pretty heavy compared to my old dryer, and can get really hot.

However, its power is fantastic, and I have shaved 5-10 mins off my drying time. ( I have really think hair)

Also, the lead is really long, which is great for trying to dry my hair and still keep control of what a toddler is doing simultaneously. Smile
