I need a change and wondered about giving them a go! Can you recommend anything? I'm flying on Friday night so I thought I might check out the duty free shop! Smile

I use beauty flash balm... I like it (the trick is not to rub it into your skin too much).

PeriPathetic · 28/11/2011 18:57

This wakey up lotion is wonderful! Smells delish and smooths out pillow-creases in your face.

midnightexpress · 28/11/2011 18:58

I use the facial oil (the lotus one, I think it is... there are a couple depending on skin type) and I like the beauty flash balm too.

Kellamity · 28/11/2011 19:01

Peri would you use that instead of a moisturiser or moisturiser on top?

OP posts:
grumplestilskin · 28/11/2011 19:02

I love the 2 in one cleanser/toner, the mintey one for greasey times and the peachey one for dry skin times

have had some samples of the flash balm, I don't "get" it

love the exfoliater with the bamboo in it and also the orange one

ANY of their body lotions are gorgeous

PeriPathetic · 28/11/2011 19:04

I use it instead but I'm not sure on "the rules" - I'm horribly slapdash with facial care and it shows

To be honest, it's very light and almost like a toner in some ways so perhaps a moisturiser should go on top.

Kellamity · 28/11/2011 19:04

Will they help me choose what's best for my 40+ skin?

huggiemonster · 28/11/2011 19:13

I'd say, if you can wait until the boxing day sales start. Try JL or Debenahms and get their christmas packs for half price.

Kellamity · 28/11/2011 19:15

Do you think that will be better than Duty Free prices? I could wait.

OP posts:
2wwmadness · 28/11/2011 19:28

I work for them, what do you want to know!

2wwmadness · 28/11/2011 19:31

The Christmas packs only go half price of stocks last. Where I work lots are
Gone already. They will b re-called and redistributed. But we didn't have as many this year. Also, the duty free price isn't worth it. Go when a counter is on gift. Specifically the big beauty gift LOADS of product free, worth much much more than discount. Will also price match so may get
A bit of discount aswell

Kellamity · 28/11/2011 19:43

The Clarins website seems to be doing a reasonable offer plus free mini gifts at the moment.

Can you recommend products 2ww? I am looking for a new cleanser and moisturiser to start with. Bit bored with Elemis now. I am 40 and getting older!!!! Smile

2wwmadness · 28/11/2011 19:52

Ok, obviously without looking at your skin but I'd you answer a few questions I can recommend for you.
What's your routine like now? Do you clense, tone, moisturise. Do you like to clense with water?
What are the concern with your skin? Is it dry ect? Does washing sometimes make your skin feel tight? Or dull?
In terms of your moisturiser what are your concerns? Firming and lifting? Or lack of glow? Age spots? Anything?

vixsatis · 28/11/2011 19:52

Was forced into Clarins when I was working as a spotty teenaged au pair in France. It doesn't work any miracles (I still hate my skin) but, having tried most brands at one time or another I think it is the best. It is great if your skin is a bit sensitive. I love their cleansers, toners, and facial oils. They have good anti ageing serum and a great one for open pores. I'm 46.

If you buy several products the (lovely- hello 2ww) sales girls usually give out loads of free samples. I never think it much cheaper at duty free. It is expensive but there are lots of more expensive brands and I think it is good value

2wwmadness · 28/11/2011 19:54

Going in the bath! Will reply in a bit

midnightexpress · 28/11/2011 20:20

And of course there's always the lovely Eau Dynamisante. I love the smell of it.

Kellamity · 28/11/2011 20:35

Sorry just putting the children to bed.

I wash tone and moisturise now (using elemis) usually twice a day!! I'm not bothered about using water and was quite interested in your lotion cleansers which do not need rinsing. Washing makes my skin feel tight.

My skin is a bit dry. I have open pores and suffer with blackheads on my nose. I don't have any age spots yet I guess I would like to glow Smile

So th cleansing milk normal would be best for you, then the combintion toner, the toner would rebalance and purify the skin, buy it also helps to shrink pores so would be great for your concern. The botanical lift firming serum, is amazing! Botox in a bottle. Wonder product! go instore and ask about that little beauty! For the glow the vital light serum is also amazing. I know there not what your after now, but go in and get samples. Really fantastic
For your moisturiser the extra-firming day cream. All skin types. This has oat
Sugars and hops in that lift and firm the skin. Skin looks youthful and fresh. You can get the extra-firm Packs instore now where you get a full day cream, half night and serum and vanity case for the price of the day cream on its own.
Do you exfoliate? Once a week will really help with congestion and get the most from your day cream. The hydraquench mask once a week after exfoliating will really help over the winter and give your skin an extra boost. The tightness can come from Dehydration and the heating through winter really dehydrates skin! I recommend using this mask once a week to keep the skin plump and having tat healthy glow. Dehydrating skin ages people terribly. I would go instore and ask one of the girls though. There's no charge and no obligation to buy, honestly. Get yourself some samples!

Kellamity · 28/11/2011 21:29

Thank you 2ww that's fantastic!

2wwmadness · 28/11/2011 21:35

No problem! Honestly the product is great. Not so much the make up. But the skin care is fab. Most of the girl on the cosmetics floor wear Clarins skin care. I dOnt have to lie to anyone about what we sell. I would honestly use it I'd I didn't work for them

Kellamity · 28/11/2011 21:50

I have just ordered from the website. I ordered the set you recommended and got 3 free gifts and 3 free samples!

I love Clarins and have done for years.

I use the Vital Light Day cream at the moment and the serum, but I love the multi active day cream too. I religiously used the oil and bust lotion and tonic when pg - and have no drooping/stretch marks (maybe down to luck though). Always have the hand cream by my bed and the face wash in the shower.

Am also an Eau Dynamisante addict.

BadPoet · 28/11/2011 22:38

Love Beauty Flash Balm and have always had a tube about. I also use the Pure Melt Cleansing gel/balm thingy and the gentle facial exfoliator, whatever it's called - it's orange - in the shower. I don't use these every day, just every so often.

I started using the Vital Light serum 6 weeks ago. I can honestly, honestly see a difference - my skin just seems more even and radiant.

I am using the Skin Illusion Foundation at the moment too, and really rate it.

BadPoet · 28/11/2011 22:39

That was meant to say, since I got married 12 yrs ago I have always had a tube of BFB. I chop and change products so much but this is one thing I can genuinely say I have used for years!

polyhymnia · 29/11/2011 10:42

A great fan here - use a lot of their stuff for face and body and always come back to it. Also love Eau Dynamisante.

Agree about the gifts with purchase - they're fabulous value and I only buy from stores which are on promotion. Means I've never had to pay for Beauty Flash Balm (which I do like before going out) or an exfoliator for years! I always have a generous sample size to hand. Also well-stocked with their lovely 'Relax' shower gel.

2wwmadness, I've been using the Super Restorative creams pretty faithfully for a few years now. I have good skin and get compliments on it. Do you think there would be any advantage in trying the Vital Light creams or serum as a change? (Tend to chop and change a bit with my face serum, as opposed to creams - sometimes Boots P and P, sometimes something from Space NK). If so, which are best, please? My skin (untreated) is normal to dry.
