I've finally found some boots I like, that fit me yay me

but I've realised I have no idea how to wear them. Until now I have always worn slight bootkick jeans to balance out my incredibly wide hips but what do I wear with kneehigh boots?
I've never worn skinnyfit/jeggings (whats the difference)/ leggings because though I am reasonably thin (seen side on) I am so so wide of hip and am worried I would look like an a tall spinning top

Help
dress me

What would suit my shape?

So - you're tall and pear-shaped, yep?

Skinny jeans might work if you wore a fairly fitted top with perhaps a longer cardigan worn open over it, to skim across your hips and bum.

Do you like skirts or dresses? How about a just above the knee fairly straight cord skirt? A denim skirt?

Are the boots brown or black, as I think that makes a diffference. Black knee high boots with denim can be a bit PC Plod or a bit Communist-era imho.

WideMutha · 11/11/2011 17:16

I guess pear shaped?
My waist to hip ration is stupid

skinny jeans idea sounds ok

I dont mind dresses and skirts though finding ones that fir is harder because of the waist/hip thing again. Would I find a straight skirt that fitted both?

They're brown

ration Grin how apt

What kind of skirts/dresses do you normally go for? And have you got a link to the boots?

I really need some new brown knee high boots and I can't find just what I want ANYWHERE!

WideMutha · 11/11/2011 17:38

I haven't actually bought them yet as they're very expensive (for me and a lot of people) so I had second thoughts because I wanted to make sure they got used, hence the thread. Will try and find a link

Skirts that fit tend to have a wide waistband flared and come to just below knee. The best fitting ones have come from next similar to this

I can't find the favourites (designer is called else something, mind blank) but the other ones I quite liked are these

Just below knee straight skirts and knee boots are very in at the moment.

Remus, hit me up. What are you after?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/11/2011 18:38

I want a pair exactly the same as my current ones, which are falling to pieces! They are slightly darker than tan but not 'brown' leather and are knee length, kind of a mixture of biker and cowboy, with a slightly Vivienne-pirate-boot-esque-strap around the ankle. I can't find anything even close.

In the meantime though, how about trying to find me a cute sort of dark not too bright red mini (but not too mini) skirt, to be worn in an Annie Hall kind of way with opaques, a blazer and a big scarf? :) I bet that would go nicely with Mutha's boots too!

WideMutha · 11/11/2011 18:45

Tether would a small waisted wide hipped person fit straight skirts? Can you show me the kind of thing you mean please

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/11/2011 18:49

This sort of thing any good?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/11/2011 18:51

Is it wrong to quite like this?

tethersend · 11/11/2011 18:54

Oooh, those sound lovely. If I see anything similar I will let you know.

Skirts:

Oasis

Miss Selfridge

Too red?

Too flippy?

Lurex

Pleat front

espirit

Jaeger

Monsoon

Now if you can just find me a red maternity pencil skirt... Wink

Sorry for hijack, WideMutha.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/11/2011 18:56

WHAT? Really? Grin

tethersend · 11/11/2011 18:57

WM, it's hard to say without seeing the actual boots, but narrow waist and wide hips can look great in a skirt like this

tethersend · 11/11/2011 18:58

Remus- Yes. Can't find one anywhere Grin

WideMutha · 11/11/2011 18:59

Oh I didn't know that,
Congratulations

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/11/2011 19:00

Really, really? Massive congrats to you, my lovely S&B pal! :)

And your 1st red skirt link is exactly the same as my link!

WideMutha · 11/11/2011 19:03

red maternity skirts came up with instructions to make one Grin

OP posts:
tethersend · 11/11/2011 19:04

Haha! Great minds Wink

Thanks for congrats. Early days but bump is already MASSIVE. I am reaching epic proportions. Will need lots of wardrobe help over the coming months Grin

WideMutha · 11/11/2011 19:05

here you don't ask for much do you Smile

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/11/2011 19:06

I've just seen that too, Mutha. :)

WideMutha · 11/11/2011 19:06

Nope it seems like red is the colour for harlots and not for sweet pregnant people

OP posts:
tethersend · 11/11/2011 19:11

Oooh, close WM... but I want actual red. You are right. Tis for harlots.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/11/2011 19:13

Oh I am deffo a harlot.

Tethers - amazingly, that Monsoon one looks absolutely perfect. Thank you.

Would you settle for black or grey with a red top? Isabella Oliver have a couple of gorgeous looking ones.
