Boden Spring Preview

polyhymnia · 28/10/2011 12:00

For those who were asking a short while ago when the Boden Spring preview might start, I've just been 'clearing out' my email inbox and see I ordered several spring preview things for this spring on 11 November 2010.

So, if they stick to that pattern, not long now!

In fact, the spring preview has just arrived in my inbox. Am saving it to browse when I've done a bit more work.

I'm just looking - not inspired so far!

CurwySwide · 28/10/2011 20:03

Do you have a link please? Thank you!

Northernlurker · 28/10/2011 20:06

here but don't get excited!

CurwySwide · 28/10/2011 20:11

Thank you. (I only want to look at mini Boden stuff, honest!) :o

Selky · 28/10/2011 20:33

Hmm, not making me reach for my credit card....

MrsBloodyTroll · 28/10/2011 20:56

Thanks for the link!

Like some of the Mini stuff, have ordered several things there. Is it just me or does it look like they've gone "back to basics" on the Mini stuff. Large, hotchpotch patterns, bright colours - they'd got a bit boring, I thought.

The Women's clothes....meh.

Northernlurker · 28/10/2011 21:29

I like the pattern of this but the plait is awful! Not too mention the typo in the name..

polyhymnia · 28/10/2011 21:37

My immediate reaction is - why oh why do they have to be so 'samey'? Some of the tunics, for example, are virtually identical to this year's. Nothing to excite in accessories or shoes either.

Expect I'll end up ordering a few things, though, because Boden do go up to a 22 and every season so far have found quite a lot of basics which have suited me and I've got a lot of use from - and even the occasional piece I've felt really enthusiastic about.

Would like to be a bit more (pleasantly) surprised/ excited, though!

Have you seen the price of the satchel? £129!!! Really pleased I persuaded dh to get me the navy patent one for Christmas when it was in the Catch of the Day.

RedwingWinter · 28/10/2011 21:46

Thanks for sharing the link. I like the look of the Valentine dress (especially since the lining is cotton - better than polyester for summer when you have bare legs). This season (i.e. autumn/winter) was the first time in ages that I didn't get anything from the preview, mainly because I didn't want to have the hassle of sending things back and thought I'd rather wait for the reviews. I might get a few things this time though.

Northernlurker · 28/10/2011 21:49

Hmmm - maybe the weekend tunic will sneak in

polyhymnia · 28/10/2011 23:44

Northern, which colourway are you liking in the Weekend tunic (at least its price is reasonable)?

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 29/10/2011 09:17

'Airforce primrose' - then if I like it I'll go for navy too. Don't like Clover and the other print is too light for me.

polyhymnia · 29/10/2011 09:26

Yes, that's the colourway I like - I agree it is the more wearable of the two prints. Not sure if it'll be too 'pretty pretty' on me but the price is good and think I'm going to give it a try. After all, it's easy enough to send things back - as I have so many Boden things in my time!

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 29/10/2011 09:35

The price is good - and quite a few things are a better price than last year. Looks like they listened to the complaints. The satchel price is mad though!

LaurieFairyCake · 29/10/2011 09:37

Oh god, I'm in love with 2 of the dresses! The bright blue flowery Floaty jersey one, the Paris one with the flicks at the bottom.

I need to not buy - I have no money for dresses! And they're 90 quid!

TantePiste · 29/10/2011 16:36

me too LaurieFairyCake, love the Paris one in both navy colours. I think I will attempt the print. Wonder if the background will turn out to be silver or cream as boden is wont to do.

Actually I like 3 skirts - the two cotton prints, and the drop stitch.

The Deauville jacket is fetching, as is the merino henley with the 3/4 sleeves, and the must-have jumper is intriguing (tho my shoulders may be too broad to make a boat neck with button plackets work) - but 3/4 sleeves and the length looks very good on the models.

Also am looking to add to light knit cardi to my work collection and the chiffon placket cardi looks like a very likely candidate that would mix and match well.

otoh am not seeing anything leap forward from trousers or shoes.

ujjayi · 29/10/2011 16:43

I really like the shirt dress in the navy & white pattern. I love all things 50s (authentic or inspired) and that will definitely be worn and worn all spring and summer :)

Also loving the Paris dress in navy.

I can see a spend coming on........

TantePiste · 29/10/2011 16:48

if i had the budget i would order that merino henley in silver, navy and red. as long as it is not an orange red. cant really tell.

TantePiste · 29/10/2011 16:52

ujjayi i love the shirt dress! not sure it would work on me - will wait for reviews, but i think it is very charming and love that 50s flavour also. it is a real day dress.

NowNowThen · 29/10/2011 16:55

Wow, I love a bit of Boden but that is the worst collection I have ever seen from them. Really poor. Not a single thing I would buy for myself.

Northernlurker · 29/10/2011 17:37

At least more of the dresses have sleeves this time.

polyhymnia · 29/10/2011 17:42

Do also like the Paris dress. The print blue one is in my basket.

On floaty jersey one, am reasonably hopeful it might work on me because have a couple of successful Boden lyocell dresses from this year. Am torn between the bright blue print which is pleasingly retro and the quieter 'moss bud' one which might be more versatile.

polyhymnia · 29/10/2011 17:45

On tops, I'm tall, so no way of knowing what will work until they get round to putting the measurements on the site.
