Palest of pale foundation

I am a bit of a Casper the Friendly Ghost. I don't mind this but it's unbelievably hard to find a foundation that doesn't look orange on my near white skin. I also have quite oily skin so I need a foundation that's oil free. Please please if anyone has any suggestions, please tell me! Thanks x

Estee Lauder go very pale. Their much-trumpeted Double Wear works well on oily, sallow skin Grin

Go to a counter and they'll give you a five day supply after a consultation.

They were my salvation after Prescriptives went up the swanee.

Max Factor lasting performance in 100 fair. I keep trying other foundations but this is one of the palest by far. Actually I also found a very inexpensive pale one from I think Barbara Daly at tesco, branded simply "makeup" in a small glass bottle with black top. That might have been oil free, I think.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/10/2011 18:47

Yep I've had that Tesco one, it was pretty good. I'm currently using Clinique's superbalanced makeup in no.2, Fair which is nice and oil free.

Maybelline mousse one in ivory. Absolutely no orange tone about it. Works really well on oily skin. I use a different shade but have tried this one.

lucymr · 26/10/2011 19:08

Thanks everyone, that gives me some to look at

For some pale colourings it is best to get one with a slight pink undertone if that makes sense

lucymr · 26/10/2011 19:16

Yes it does make sense, thanks

Lily lolo mineral foundation. Look online. Good pale foundations and good for oily skin.

lucymr · 26/10/2011 19:32

Thanks - am sure one of these has to be the one!

I am very pale with pink tones.

I use Teinte Miracle in 010.

I had an ok colour match with Dior NudeSkin and I used to use Max Factor Colour Adapt and that was a good match.

Double Wear normal was fine for me but it is a very very heavy coverage, I tried Double Wear Light but it was too yellow for me.

All of these suited my skin in the palest shades available (makes it easy to buy actually because I just ask for the palest !)

Helo · 26/10/2011 19:40

Oh I have had no success with Clinique or Maybelline mousse far far too orange for me :(

I am so very pale.

latrucha · 26/10/2011 19:43

Max Factor. I've tried the lot and it's definitely the best for me.

I find Clinique too orangey too, so maybe we're similarly spooklike.

lucymr · 26/10/2011 19:43

Thanks Helo - I'm currently using Teinte Idole in 010 which I guess will be the same colour as the Teinte Miracle. It's the best I've tried so far but still has too much colour for me. My neck and chest are so pale (people call me snow white) that it looks too coloured. When I was a teenager, I used to mix loose face powder with talc to get the right colour! Now I'm (significantly) older and maybe wiser, I wouldn't do that! ;-)

Pic on profile if you want to compare!

SoftSheen · 26/10/2011 19:44

L'Oreal Rose Ivory is good, and not at all orangey. I also have very fair skin.

MarshaBrady · 26/10/2011 19:46

Lancome is good for pale colouring.

SoftSheen · 26/10/2011 19:47

lucymr I also used to put talc on my face as a teenager, glad I wasn't the only one! Grin

mycatsaysach · 26/10/2011 19:47

rimmel do a pinky one

petaluma · 26/10/2011 19:48

Try illamasqua www.illamasqua.com/

Don't be put off by the gothy website, their makeup is lovely for the paler skin.

Helo · 26/10/2011 20:02

This is going to make me sound awful and orangy rimmed (I am NOT!) but I find the Miracle goes on quite orangy and then when I blend it in it does blend well. I really struggled to find a new foundation (the Max Factor didn't last all day) and I was a bit last ditch with the Lancome. I have not tried the idol so no idea how the two shades compare.

I have used the very palest Mac shade before and then used blusher / bronzer to make me look less dead.

I have quite a tanned décolletage (hello sun damage) but everywhere else is super pale so I struggle a bit because I like to avoid looking dead...

lucymr · 26/10/2011 20:07

Thanks everyone. The illamasqua website looks interesting, never heard of it, will have a proper look.

Bobbi brown's 0 porcelain or prescriptives level 1 traceless skin responsive tint
I'm also rather ghostly blonde, blue eyed with pale freckly skin - I don't always go for those with a pink base as they make me look a bit rosy , if I'm flushed at all so I go for ones with a yellow (not orange) which tend to neutralise any flushing and just give me good natural coverage. Personal favourite is Bobbi brown stuff , both these cost a bit but last me ages

wonkylegs · 26/10/2011 20:15

Sorry shouldn't really recommend the prescriptives one now it's so hard to get but I have a colleague who brings it back from the US and it is nicely light and not greasy.

latrucha · 26/10/2011 20:25

I' mafraid Prespripcitves was one of my biggest ever disappointments.

ginmakesitallok · 26/10/2011 20:40

I'm using clinique blemish control foundation at the minute, the palest one- alabaster something or something alabaster. first one I've had which blends well.
