Thin layering tops that aren't synthetic?

I would really like 2-3 thin l/s vneck or round neck tops but can't find anything that's not mostly synthetic. There was mention of M&S ones last year but I can't find any on the website that look right. I have some lovely thin ones from Joules from last year but they're 70% viscose and I sweat like mad in them although they're 30% wool so great. I got some wool/silk ones this week from Charlotte & Co but they're a bit itchy tbh although lovely in every other way.
I don't think uniqlo would fit me as I'm an 18/20 up top and anyway they're not natural fibres but that kind of thing would be perfect as they're thin, stretchy and come in lots of colours!

I wear dorothy perkins long sleeve round neck tops under everything they are not perfect but pretty great as decent length, 100% cotton and wash well. they come in several colours (although I tend to go back to white every time) and I think are £14 for two

Nevertooearlyforcake · 24/10/2011 03:36

Gap Body ones - way to thin to wear on their own, see-through, but 100% cotton and great for laying. Come in white, black and grey at least.

accessorizequeen · 24/10/2011 08:53

Thanks both, had got a gap body one which was perfect but viscose so took it back. Will have a look online. Was in dp on weekend, should have had a look!

I have bought several layering t shirts from Marks in cotton/modal mix.I hate synthetic fabrics but these are really light and comfortable and slightly sheer. The cowl necked ones are great but are only available in black and grey, but the scoop necks come several different colours.I tend to size up as the t-shirts are pretty tight fitting.

Eyelasher · 24/10/2011 11:31

i am feckin loathe to say the boden hampton tee in whtie is ace

also marks do them every year - had one last year very thin but warm

polyhymnia · 24/10/2011 11:34

Wrap and Poetry both do them.

alemci · 24/10/2011 11:45

the Boden ones from last year have been very good. I hate synthetic materials too.

accessorizequeen · 24/10/2011 20:39

I love the wrap willow top but £50! Shall have to wait until sale. Didn't find Poetry fitted me well when I tried them in the summer. I love the look of the Hamptons tee but didn't think it was thin, is that why they're so popular? I think I'd spotted the marks tops after all but didn't realise they were thin. Lots of options, thanks everyone!!

Primark. £3.50 each.

Cotton and a bit of Lycra. Available in every colour you could wish for. I wear them every day.

4madboys · 24/10/2011 20:52

i got some from h&m they were about £6 each and are cotton with a bit of stretch, i think they do 1005 cotton ones as well, loads of diff colours, i wear them all the time :)

accessorizequeen · 25/10/2011 08:19

Primark sounds a bargain but I don't get there often. Have the h&M ones shrunk or twisted 4madboys? Everything I got from H&M for myself (dc stuff is fab) last year was rubbish and put me off buying there again.
Thanks all again!

The H&M long sleeved, round necked tops from the maternity section have lasted me ages. I wore them all through my pregnancy, layering with wrap tops or cardigans. I bought one in every colour and have been wearing them for a year post pregnancy too. I am quite tall though so can get away with wearing the longer maternity tops when not pregnant. Definitely didn't have any issues with shrinking and they have been washed at 60 to remove the usual sick, poo and purée stains!!

accessorizequeen · 25/10/2011 09:25

Thanks NoMoreWine, think I'll have a look at m&s and H&m when I'm in town this afternoon and hopefully find some!

Reporting back. I made it to M&S but not H&M and was not successful Hmm
I tried on this scoop neck top and this cowl neck top. The scoop neck looked awful (I sized up) although the scoop was flattering, it was just too thick. The cowl neck fabric was perfect, thin & sheet but the neckline does nothing for me. Isn't there a vneck or scoop neck alternative in the same fabric - if there is I can't find it online (nor instore). Confused as the description for the cowl-neck and the scoop neck is the same!
I cannot find anything on the H&M website, and not really inclined to order online anyway as it takes ages. Any links to the likely ones?
Those who've bought the Boden Hamptons tee, how thin is it? Doesn't look sheer at all, it looks like thick cotton which I absolutely don't want. I don't have the time to go into town again for several weeks by which time it will be heaving anyway so would prefer online.
I'm sure if I was several stone lighter I would a) fit into Uniqlo and b) not be bothered by synthetics as I'd stop sweating like a pig.

I have a couple of these from Jigsaw, they are quite thin tshirt. But not sure if the L would fit?

accessorizequeen · 25/10/2011 23:14

They look fab Florence but the L is a 16, won't fit. The search continues...

These Wrap ones are nice (also have nice vests) , though more £££ than M and S:

polyhymnia · 25/10/2011 23:32

These plain round tops are nice too, though not cheap and
Wrap ones a bit more stylish.

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 25/10/2011 23:33

Have you tried Gap?

polyhymnia · 26/10/2011 10:18

Sorry, when I said 'these' I meant these:

MrsSeanBean · 26/10/2011 13:17

Doesn't look like anyone has mentioned Jigsaw Sheer cotton tops (not see through, just very fine / lightweight) - here

CointreauVersial · 26/10/2011 13:19

Viscose is a natural fibre, made from wood pulp, so not strictly synthetic btw.

accessorizequeen · 26/10/2011 14:06

CointreauVersial, I know, I thought I would be ok with viscose but clearly not. I see lots of styles I like with it, but daren't buy again as I just feel uncomfortable.
MrsSeanBean, thanks but someone did mention Jigsaw & they're lovely but won't fit unfortunately
Binfull, I did look at the Gap website last night and found the Pure Body ones but wasn't sure which were the v.thin, sheer ones mentioned by NeverTooEarlyForCake as they're not 100% cotton. They do a u-neck tunic style which looks great, and a good price, just not sure which to buy! Although gap returns are fairly easy, I guess so I could order several different ones. It's just I've paid out for p&p on one lot of tops already that weren't right. No gap near me to try.
Polyhymnia, thanks I had just got a couple of the Bella Di Notte sleeveless vests in merino/silk and they're great but quite thick and too warm for what I'm after (I don't get very cold), your link didn't work but I think it's the l/s version of the sleeveless one I've just bought. I got 2 v.similar from Charlotte & Co but they're too fitted & thick so going back. I love the wrap ones, but I need 2 or 3 and they're so £££ when I ought to be buying Xmas pressies. I know they'll fit & be great quality as I have loads of their tops but no l/s ones. When they have their sale I will stock up! I love wearing linen/hemp etc, it's so comfortable.

Will try to get to DP & H&M soon as I could have done with one on last night, it was chilly! If anyone can link to the M&S ones which are sheer, I'd be grateful (round neck). That's if Gap don't work out! Thanks all again.
Thanks again, everyone.

polyhymnia · 26/10/2011 14:35

The Bella di Notte link should be:
www.belladinotte.com/bella-di-notte-satin-edge-round-neck-top.html

But take your point - colours are nice and it's wool/silk but it is warm. I had a couple last year and only wore when it was really cold. (Like you, have some B di N sleeveless vests).

Now in process of persuading myself I really need the Wrap one in the Twilight Blue and that, as I'd only be buying one, can afford it (though can't really). A hazard of MN!

accessorizequeen · 26/10/2011 14:49

Poly, if you mean the wrap vest with the lace at the back I got it and it's lovely. Have free p&p code if that helps! I ought to be buying Lego not tops but I need them!
