Thin layering tops that aren't synthetic?

I would really like 2-3 thin l/s vneck or round neck tops but can't find anything that's not mostly synthetic. There was mention of M&S ones last year but I can't find any on the website that look right. I have some lovely thin ones from Joules from last year but they're 70% viscose and I sweat like mad in them although they're 30% wool so great. I got some wool/silk ones this week from Charlotte & Co but they're a bit itchy tbh although lovely in every other way.
I don't think uniqlo would fit me as I'm an 18/20 up top and anyway they're not natural fibres but that kind of thing would be perfect as they're thin, stretchy and come in lots of colours!

You have your priorities right. I should be writing my thesis ...

Wrap p and p code much appreciated!

josephinebonaparte · 26/10/2011 16:02

Sainsburys had some.

Try Lands End but remember it's American sizing i.e. Lands End 12 is a UK 16. If you look on their website in the sale area they may well have some good offers

Thanks a lot.

There is the question of the money for the garment/s itself/themselves (am tempted by this cardi:
www.wraplondon.co.uk/fashion-W487-SMWKW-SMWKW1/cardigans/becca-cardi.htm too), but never mind!

accessorizequeen · 26/10/2011 21:08

Can't help you with that, sorry although lovely cardi.
Had a look at LE but couldn't spot anything that fitted the bill unfortunately. But some other plain tops look good (must stick to mission!!)
Sainsbos had some great ones last time I was in but none my size argh. Pity they don't do online as local branch is rubbish with no changing rooms. Thanks all (again)

Matalan

Was in there yesterday. Lots of v necks and round necks/crew necks with sleeves and some camis and that kind of thing too, 95% cotton, 5% elastine, in a variety of colours, £4.50 each

Get yourself down there

scotgirl · 26/10/2011 21:15

It Primark ones are good. Nice long sleeves and a a nice long length too. My friend put me on to them - they are great in the the cold they are like thermals.

When I did needlework and sewing lessons I remember reading that Viscose is made from natural materials (although like cotton it goes through various chemical processess before it is wearable).

See this: <a class="break-all" href="http://web.archive.org/web/20080625080322/www.plastiquarian.com/viscose.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Viscose

Sorry not to have replied, been ill. So haven't managed to go shopping yet. I'm short on time so would prefer to buy online anyway. Getting fed up I still don't have any but there you go!
Cannot say why a natural fabric like viscose makes me sweat but it does! Thanks all once more.

I bought one of these yesterday and it came today so haven't washed it yet. But it's 100% cotton and feels lovely and soft. It has thumb holes so not sure how much you'd like that, but apart from that it seems really good. I'll probably buy a couple more in other colours. Smile

accessorizequeen · 03/11/2011 21:22

Thanks, Saiorse, that one looks right in neckline and length, is it really thin? Just went and looked again at dotty p, couldn't find anything. And gap ones too long. Rats.

saoirse86 I like the one with the thumb holes -- what is the sizing like?

saoirse86 · 03/11/2011 22:11

It's not really thin. The good thing about there is it's free delivery and free returns so you lose nothing if you don't like something you've ordered. I'm normally an 8-10 and decided to go for an 8 because I wanted tight fitting and it's perfect. A 10 would be a bit loose for layering on me I think, so I'd stick on the small side. You could always order both sizes and return the one that doesn't fit so well.

Thanks.
