Bloss I have 910's and think they are the prefect skinny jean.

Not sure red about DS. I keep pointing to my stomach and saying, "Baby". But then he lifts up his own top and says "Baby" too. Grin

Very restrained Portia, good luck with that.

I thought of you today NY when I went past the Railway children. It will be such a lovely pre christmas treat for DD.

FritziGreenEyes · 24/10/2011 21:04

I have Jillian's book and love it. I'm also addicted to her podcasts Blush.

rufus101 · 24/10/2011 21:11

Sounds like a nice trip NY, I am always mystified by those mums who are like that though, and feel I am obviously missing some intrinsic maternal gene.
I am driven absolutely demented here for the last few days by DD (8) who has to make a Halloween mask and costume from recycled materials by Friday. Despite google and you tube, nothing I come up with meets her exacting standards. She is now in bed, crying hysterically, as her costume won't be as good as everyone elses. Christ, I feel like strangling the teacher. Not just a mask, but a costume. And unless I come up with something that manufactures latex, I am failing miserable in DD's eyes, because believe me, the egg cartons, cotton wool, cardbox boxes, red paper, ribbons are just not cutting it here. Okay rant over.
I must look at those jeans Bloss, my fellow J Brand liker. I have bought from shopbop before and the delivery is amazing. You'll have it within 2 days!
Off to google more Halloween crap Halloween craft ideas. (sigh)

blossoming · 24/10/2011 22:20

rufus, I'm feeling much more confident about my purchase now that wan said she has them! My 912s bunch a little too much at the bottom, and have slighted faded knees. Not a good look.
You poor thing. I hope I never have to make a halloween costume.
Have spent tonight and Friday night trying to find a hotel for DH in the city for his lecturing for under £150 a night. My friend who works for the Welsh assembly has a budget of £125! How do they do it? Have found one now for him though and really hope it works out. He may use it a lot.

VerityBrulee · 25/10/2011 01:38

I am sitting in a hotel room wearing ds1's sports t -shirt, the only thing I could grab from a pile of laundry before firemen rescued me from our flooded house Shock had to climb out the sittingroom window into a boat being pulled up our street! We had torrential rain all day then high tide in river close by. The street started to flood, dh tooks dc to friends, had to abandon car on way, by the time he was on his way back to the house the floodwater was too high, police wouldn't let him back. Meanwhile i was rushing around trying to get all our worldly goods up off the ground. Think i have saved all my clothes. Totally surreal.

I am dreading to think what we are facing into, don't know if we'll be back in house for Christmas.

I had just got my topshop sparkly boots, they are on kitchen table! I was thinking of returning them, but I think I'll need them
To keep my spirits up!

herecomesthsun · 25/10/2011 02:04

Very sorry about the flood Verity. how awful.

Bloss -re finding good value hotel rooms for work, laterooms.com, works for me every time.

FritziGreenEyes · 25/10/2011 05:49

verity You poor thing, that is awful! Hope the weather calms down and you can go back to your house soon. >

OllieinOrange · 25/10/2011 06:54

Verity my heart goes out to you (gosh that sounds very dramatic written down but ykwim). What a horrible, horrible thing to happen. Glad you, DH and DC are all safe but it must be so upsetting seeing your house in that state.
Yes yes to keeping the TS sparkly boots - they will make you smile when you wear them and that can only be a good thing.
Stay strong

blossoming · 25/10/2011 07:19

verity, I'm so so sorry. I hope you are finding strength from somewhere. Thinking about you all.

AmberNectarine · 25/10/2011 07:50

verity how absolutely awful, fingers crossed the damage won't be too great and you'll be back home soon. At least your family (and clothes!) are safe and that's the main thing.

Off out for a bit of shopping with my mum today for her birthday. Really hope my DD and I have as good as a relationship as I do with my DM.

Am raging at DH as he woke me up at 4.30am to deal with DS who was crying. I had already been up twice with the baby, and he is off work on holiday and has a child free day today. He is getting the cold shoulder today, especially as I have had to get up with the kids (pre-arranged agreement which he is very lucky I am honouring)

Still the good news is the baby is now taking a bottle so I am off to get drunk meet up with friends on Thursday!

ollie I really like that jacket, will be great for the party season.

njc hope you find your coat, I am having a similar dilemma, but as I have never had my colours or style done I am just a fussy mare.

bloss enjoy your style day, and good call on the 910s, I have had my eye on those - do report back!

wan agree with ollie about Brighton, and I am also a big Bicester fan. Also think you can't beat a long browse in Selfridges. Whatever you do I hope you have a lovely day to yourself.

pickledsiblings · 25/10/2011 08:08

Verity, it sounds like you coped brilliantly with trying to minimise the damage to your 'wordly goods', and on your own...I am so impressed. Like the others I hope that you will be back home asap and that things are not as bleak as they may appear. Keep strong.

Amber, good news about the baby taking a bottle...roll on Thursday.

notyummy · 25/10/2011 09:46

Verity - can only echo everyone else's thoughts. If I was closer I would offer you our spare rooms and some wine/tea! It must be so shocking and disorientating. At least you are all safe, but I am sure completely shell shocked. Hope you find out what the next steps are soon and the insurance company act fast on your behalf.

Amber - not surprised you are Angry. Perhaps now the baby will take a bottle, a night away to a hotel for you to pamper/sleep/have control of the remote with a few magazines is in order whilst DH holds the fort....?

No meetings today so in snuggly roll neck grey dress (from Primarni 3 years ago!) with opaques and grey biker boots. Think it looks pretty good tbh and feel nice and warm!

Portia4 · 25/10/2011 10:01

Gosh Verity How awful, is there anything us locals can do to help?
I am on my way into work hoping that all will be ok there. DH didn't make it home last night due to flooding.

MarshaBrady · 25/10/2011 10:37

Verity you poor thing. How scary. Sounds like you moved really quickly, my heart goes out to you too.

verity Wish there was anything I could do to help.

In the meantime will keep you entertained with shopping trivia. Just spent 45 minutes in Apple Store buying a thingy to connect iphone to car stereo system. Got all hot amd bothered and needed emergency coffee. Zara was a complete waste of time, as none of the things I wanted to try on were in stock. And they call themselves flagship store, tsk.

Bought new cushion covers and wooly blanket at H&M instead Blush

Wearing wise and avid finds from top to toe today: black Agnes, new sparkly Reiss jumper, l&l scarf, grey Pure jacket and Ash wedge ankle boots from last year. Grin

MarshaBrady · 25/10/2011 11:38

Sounds lovely Fritzi!

Ok we have one night left to book in Christmas week and need a play. Does anyone go to the theatre... Have you seen anything good?

notyummy · 25/10/2011 11:45

Comedy or not Marsha? Edgy or feel good? I rarely get to the theatre these days but have friends who go regularly.

Just popping in to say that the M and S patent heels are gone from the site....they have obviously completely run out Shock. Have a vision of thousands of ladies wrestling over the Louboutin look-a-likes Grin. They have a slightly different shoes in a couple of more unusual colours left, but not the patent black/nude ones.

MarshaBrady · 25/10/2011 11:50

Comedy and light-hearted would be great. Feel good definitely (my father's tastes) Thanks NY.

Good work with the shoes. I expect to see them in a Style magazine soon.

MarshaBrady · 25/10/2011 12:05

Excellent thanks! Have forwarded to parents.

redllamayellowllama · 25/10/2011 13:04

Oh Verity am so, so sorry. Can only second the sentiments of others and reiterate how amazingly you sound to have coped. Thinking of you all and hoping you are back in your house as soon as possible. If there's anything we can do, please say.

Amber hope you have a lovely day with your Mum and am put out on your behalf. I hope you've requested the lie-in for Friday morning!

Have just returned from a trip to Shepton Mallet and the Mulberry shop, where lovely DH bought me <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=mulberry+long+locked+purse+tomato+red&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&sa=N&tbo=d&tbm=isch&tbnid=s2cb8mfZBd7LkM:&imgrefurl=critiques.she.com/fashion/product/long-locked-purse-in-tomato-red-spongy-patent/4086/&docid=28FgFcBl4DqaiM&imgurl=critiques.she.com/fashion/products_images/mulberry/201005/100522_005824_093_01.jpg&w=760&h=683&ei=cKSmTtnSFY-u8QPg78DCDw&zoom=1&biw=1024&bih=690" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this replacement purse. WAN they had quite a good range in there, some gorgeous ones in Oak, but this was the only one which made me get all excited. They had my Alexa Hobo in a multitude of colours (including a lovely blueberry shade) but not, I was pleased to note, at the hefty discount I got mine for!

Hope everyone's having a lovely day - Fritzi I too am in a real W&A outfit; grey Whistles top, indigo 912s and stone Jalouse.

rufus101 · 25/10/2011 13:51

Verity you poor thing. I hope there's not too much damage. Took DH hours to get home last night, and houses down the road to us have gotten flooded out. Think the TS sparkly boots must stay. Anything to perk up the spirits.
BLOSS, check out Topsecrethotels.com. You can nearly work out what hotel you are booking if you do some research, and I've had some really good experiences.

blossoming · 25/10/2011 14:09

Thanks for the tips rufus and herecomesthesun. Will check them out for next time.
Great outfits today girls! I on the other hand am in leggings and vest top watching Toy Story 3!
Great news re bottle Amber. Hope you have a great night out.
Lovely purse red, three cheers for DH!

Hope things have improved in Ireland. Is carciofi there this week too?
