Having botox tomorrow for the first time...... Questions for those of you that know?

Having the deep furrow between the eyes, probably the lines on my forehead and maybe the crows feet.

Not 100% if I want the crows feet done though.

How much does it hurt?

Does it make the wrinkles look worse if you stop having it done?

Does it bruise the skin?

Can I get away with not telling dh or will it be obvious?

Can i have a higher dose in the furrow (its bad!!) and a lighter dose on other areas?

Can I be brutally honest?

These questions should have been asked weeks ago before making the appointment and at your consultation, not the day before the procedure. Are you going somewhere reputable?

noddyholder · 22/09/2011 18:23

I have had forehead and frown I think crows feet makes you look odd but might just be me! It doesn't hurt esp the 2nd time when you know how fab it is Grin. I need mine done atm and the lines are less prominent but when they come back it is hard to accept I had one tiny bruise the 1st time but no bruising really. You could get away with not telling if it is well done people asked me what i had been doing as I looked so well even my mum who is eagle eyes and notices everything didn't know. The doctor will know how much to use.

magnolia74 · 22/09/2011 18:29

Greg, My consultation is tomorrow and yes very reputable. They do the procedure on the same day. Just wanted opinions from people who have had it Smile

Noddy, thanks Smile I know I want the forhead and furrow done no matter what but not sure about the crows feet.

How long does it really last?

TattyDevine · 22/09/2011 21:12

Crows feet - don't have any, don't know, dont mind them on others therefore can't answer.

The rest I know.

How much does it hurt. FFS. It doesn't really, picking a hangnail hurts more. Feck, flossing hurts more if you spanner it Hmm Grin

Does it make wrinkles look worse after you stop having it done? No. I had to stop for a while early this year as I had pneumonia and had 6 courses of antibiotics and each time I was about to get a botox top up I'd end up on more so couldn't (they can contra-indicate) so I went au natural for a good 6 months from about November to April/May (I think end April) and I felt I wanted it doing but looked no worse. Does that make sense?

Does it bruise the skin? No, its never bruised me. Its not to say it won't you but I bruise like a peach so I reckon probably not.

Can you get away with not telling DH? Probably. I've never told mine. I assume he doesn't know. If he asked, I'd tell him. Same as if he asked if I'd had my hair done. I'm not spending "his" money so don't feel the need to bore him, in case anyone is wondering! Its not a secret, per se, I just haven't felt the need to mention it.

Can you have a higher dose on furrows and lower in other areas? Of course. Furrows (11's, Glabellar) are worst and strongest, generally. I have a very low subtle dose in the other corner of my eyebrows to stop what is called "comma lines" - if she did much more my brow might droop, but instead she just manages it. So yes you can pick and choose, a bit.

TattyDevine · 22/09/2011 21:14

How long does it really last? My 11's (those nasty 2 lines between the brows that make you look angry and tired) I had done end June and its now end Sept and I could just about go for a top up sometime soon except my forehead tramlines have not worn off yet and I'd rather do it all in one so I reckon I'll just wait about 3 weeks or so. So about 3-4 months, or they should. Enough to stop you frowning much. At first you can't even try to frown, at the end you could if you tried but you don't try and it still helps manage you, but get it done before you learn again, if that makes sense?

crystalglasses · 22/09/2011 21:19

How much does it cost to do the frown lines and crows feet?

noddyholder · 22/09/2011 21:47

I had it last in May (beginning) and I want it again. Have probably 'needed' it for the last 2 weeks or so but I am less lined now and so can last a week or two.I have no crows feet really and like tatty don't mind them I was more concerned about forehead and it really worked. The first lot kind of very slightly lifted my brow and opened my eye up the lid is less droopy and it has never returned which is a bonus!

TattyDevine · 22/09/2011 21:55

2 areas you are looking around £220-250. Frown line one area, crows another. If you want to freeze the lot (crows, trams, frowns) then about £350

ggirl · 22/09/2011 22:15

Does anyone use a sk:n clinic ?

Karbea · 22/09/2011 22:23

I had an infill in my furrow the 2nd time as well as Botox and that was brilliant. I need my Botox redone too.

PersonalJesus · 23/09/2011 01:05

I had my forehead and lovely deep 'number 1' sorted out a few weeks ago. I decided against the crows feet, only very slight at the moment and I like them really.

I love the effect, I still have a very faint line where the (truly monstrous) 1 was but it is no longer visible to most people. I think for it to disappear completely it would need a teeny bit of filler. It looks very natural, even my best friend just thinks I am happy in my new job.

It didn't hurt at all, though I must admit I was concerned when the doctor gave me a stress ball to squeeze. I bruised very slightly, (I bruise easily anyway) but it was one small dot which was barely noticeable.

I look, and feel much happier. As an added bonus, my tension headaches have all but disappeared. I wish I'd done it years ago.

magnolia74 · 23/09/2011 10:04

Thanks so much guys you have really helped :-)
Decided against crows feet but my top eyelids are drooping a tiny bit so may ask for them to be sorte. Actually excited now.... Sick of looking like a moody cow Grin

Get some arnica to help with the bruising.

GetOrfMo1Land · 23/09/2011 15:52

I had mine done in the early summer - June iirc. Just between my eyebrows (I don't have crows feet anyway but I wouldn't care about them anyway). It is brilliant - I am a natural frowner and it has got rid of the frown lines completely.

It's great when it starts working - you look in the mirror and you can't friwn at all.

It makes you very vain, looking in mirrors all the time.

I look 100% better - but I don't look 'done'. Just less grouchy.

My ability to frown is coming back very slightly, I may well get it done again before Christmas.

ggirl I went for a consultation at sk:n clinic, and thought they were crap. One of the girls behind reception (couldn't have been more than 22) was having her botox done - she hadn't a line on her face. I thought that they were pretty disreputable to inject botox into someone who patently didn't need it, so went elsewhere. I went to a local independent clinic, and I recommended her to another Mner, who went and had botox there and loved it, so if you are anywhere near Cheltenham I can recommend a place.

ThePosieParker · 23/09/2011 16:40

Mmmmm....I am so tempted.

ggirl · 23/09/2011 19:06

GetOrfMo1Land thanks for that... nowhere near you unfortunately.
Will look elsewhere thanks

magnolia74 · 24/09/2011 16:50

Had it done.....didnt hurt Smile

I had a tiny amount to the outer corner of eye and shit loads on the deep number 1 Grin a small amount on the forehead lines too.

Keep looking at myself in the mirror to see if its different even though they said it takes a few days to start seeing the effect Blush

am so tempted need, to save up though
and need someone to recommend somewhere south central

MrsRobertDuvall · 24/09/2011 16:54

I have a long fringe Wink
would love my crepey eyelids done but too scared.
I have microdermabrasion and face rejuvenation which seems to work.

frutilla · 24/09/2011 16:54

Wish I could have botox!!! Been preg or b/feeding for last 4 years so getting wrinkly....lucky you, I'd have crows feet done too. Just tell them not to put too much in. Bear in mind, if you do crows feet you'll probs start getting semi circle wrinkles under eye instead.

ggirl · 24/09/2011 16:56

MrsRobertDuvall totally with you on the crepey eyelids...I blame my mother.

noddyholder · 24/09/2011 17:00

I am going for a top up this week as I find I don't ned to wear make up when ita done. It takes about a week to fully show but agree you can't stop looking when it really kicks in Magic!

magnolia74 · 24/09/2011 17:02

It was such a tiny bit for the crows feet so hopefully no lines elsewhere....

There was a woman there who had just had the lines at the side of the mouth filled, lips done and god knows what else....looked a bit scarey!!

Will stick with the botox but if i ever say i'm getting something else done remind me of this scarey woman Grin

MrsRobertDuvall · 24/09/2011 17:03

I blame everything on my mother Grin
