Grin

Because moonlight gives you a nice glow and doesn't show up your wrinkles or grey hair.

Well, six-and-a-half hours later, I'm back home. The shopping was fun, and we stopped for dinner at Wagamama, a decision that cost us our car, which is unfortunately locked in the multi-storey carpark until tomorrow morning. Angry

The DDs were thrilled at their trip home by double-decker and taxi (they don't get out much, poor rural dears); I'm less thrilled about having to go back to Kingston at sparrowfart tomorrow and shell out £££ to pick up the car. Ah well, it could have been worse (and Wagamama was worth it).

I did the personal shopper at JL in Bluewater when I went back to work the last time, and it did do the job.... I asked for a work suit, an evening outfit for a work do and some jeans.... and she did really well. Frankly, for no cost, you get a private changing room, a frothy coffee and someone who knows their way round all the stock. I enjoyed it.... still got the suit and if I do make it back to work soon, which I am fervently planning (after three years out!), I will wear it with pride for about three days and then run back to the personal shopper again!!!! Unfortunately don't live near Bluewater now.....

CointreauVersial · 11/09/2011 10:23

I love Bluewater, I could happily spend hours there. JL is my favourite shop in the whole world, not specifically for clothes but everything else is so yummy.

Anyway, I'm now back in Kingston making use of the free wi-fi in Maccy-Ds and waiting for the carpark to open so I can liberate our car. I might have time to check out a couple of shops I missed yesterday (every cloud...).

motherinferior · 11/09/2011 10:32

I am going slightly insane thinking about work clothes (while supposed to be working).

Think I need wrap-ish easy dresses, with sleeves, that I don't need to fuss over, and don't need a vest/cami underneath. (I get cold and do put on many layers, but that vest-faffing as part of overall dressing is tedious.) So that's the White Company one, Jigsaw one and possibly this. And then I can shut up Blush

bigTillyMint · 11/09/2011 11:20

I'm back after a fab day at Harvest yesterday. James Martin is even more sexy in the flesh. The food and music were good tooSmile

MI I love your first two dresses - go for it!

Bluewater is also my favourite shopping destination, and JL too - it is definitely a crepey-sign when JL is your favourite shop!

Stropperella · 11/09/2011 11:26

I am finding your dress dilemmas very instructive, MI. I hadn't seen the revamped Kew site before.

CV, hope the overnight car parking wasn't too £££. A Sunday morning in Kingston doesn't sound too bad at all. :)

Yes, I am exemplifying a Woman Losing The Plot, innit Grin

DukesOfTripHazard · 11/09/2011 12:27

The jigsaw and the vreeland dress MI. Yes. VG.

A weak wave from me. Didn't want the summer to end was having a really nice relaxing, pootling time with DDs. It quashed my existential angst. Which is back a bit. Over on the bright side... 1) did Davina Fit DVD 3 times last week. (Really like her kick fit set). 2) Have started facial exercises again. 3) Via squalid row, DH is suggesting he cook twice a week. 4) my Allsaints leather jacket is very good and comfortable and as long as I stay on top of gut management, or rather get on top of gut management, it will be good.

Downside is that I am lazy and a bit low and could be getting so much more out of life.

herbaceous · 11/09/2011 13:37

I'm unfeasibly excited about the new Westfield opening in Stratford (East London, not Upon Avon) next week. 300 shops! A huge John Lewis! All Star Bowling Lanes! Somewhere to buy clothes that isn't the local mall, where Dotty Ps is the most upmarket shop!

Re angst, Dukes, mine has abated merely by filling my life with activities. Distraction, rather than cure.

Blackduck · 11/09/2011 13:54

Was in a field in Wales where it peed down all night (fun). Pottered round Hay on Wye - weird place -everything is tres expensive. Saw nice dress but shop shut so no idea of brand.
I hate Bluewater (is near my mils) but I don't like big shopping centres at all, I get all stressed. Seriously thinking about shopper idea.
As for exstential angst I am trying not to think about it. I screwed my career a while back and now feel I am running at quarter speed.

bigTillyMint · 11/09/2011 14:27

BD, re: personal shoppers, I heard/saw a really good one in Debanhams once I thought the stuff she was picking really suited the "shopper" and no pressure to buy, so could be the way to go?

Unless you fancy going on "How to look good naked"?Grin

bigTillyMint · 11/09/2011 14:28

Herbs, we passed the new Westfield on the way back from Harvest this morning - still alot of diggers out there! It is nearer to us than the other Westfield, so I might even give it a go!

motherinferior · 11/09/2011 14:33

I have generously put you lot out of your misery by getting act together and ordering Vreeland frock off JL site (after the Kew one either refused to accept my order or swindled me out of huge amounts. I suspect the former, as the website wasn't working very well).

CointreauVersial · 11/09/2011 16:15

Well done, MI, can't go wrong with a wrap dress.

New Westfield? I'm ashamed to say I've never been to the old one. I was put off somewhat after hearing that it is chock full of "up-market" shops that I can't afford to go into. JL is as posh as I go!

Hello Dukes, good to hear you enjoyed your summer. I've forgotten mine already.....

bigTillyMint · 11/09/2011 16:49

No CV, nor have I. Even more embarassing when my boss who is heading close to 60, but always looks amazing, and who lives in deepest Essex, goes to all the posh designer shops there. Still, DH is pleasedSmile

MrsSchadenfreude · 11/09/2011 17:40

Friend turned up late so we had the champagne anyway, rather than coffee (much better idea!). I had a Nice Nap this afternoon. DD1 is supposed to be unpacking from her school trip and putting her stuff away, but is lying on her bed listening to her ipod. DD2 is Bored and reading. Both rejected their lunch (they ate most of the nibbles we had with the champagne) and are now "starving".

Am glad you have ordered that frock, MI. I feel it will be a Useful Dress. Grin

motherinferior · 11/09/2011 18:15

I am panicking rather about work. But have gone through DD2's Trousers Drawer, which has yielded a number of trousers DD2 swore she didn't have. Some of them may in fact belong to her sister, but will now fit DD2. While DD1 is wearing the Schadenfreulein's castoffs. It's the Circle of Life, innit.

(While DD2's castoffs go to family of three small girls.)

CointreauVersial · 11/09/2011 18:46

My DCs' castoffs join the teetering pile of stuff in the loft that I intend to sell on eBay.

Just as soon as I have the time.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/09/2011 19:41

Crepesters! We have slipped to page 3! MI - how is job going? I had to hobble into work in Camper boots today due to huuuge blisters on my heels from new shoes. Wobbled home clutching remains of canapes from reception, plus nearly full bottle of wine. Recession, you know. Classy, too, I think. I managed not to drop either.

motherinferior · 12/09/2011 19:46

Job was BUSY today. but I nipped out to Jigsaw (which is literally just behind the office) to buy a frock Grin. DP ahem adjusting to new regime...

bigTillyMint · 12/09/2011 20:00

Link please, MISmile

motherinferior · 12/09/2011 20:39

It's the Jigsaw frock I linked to above in my Frenzy.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/09/2011 21:25

Apparently I need to Pay More Attention To The Children. Angry
