So what's going to be in the shops this autumn/ winter?

Hoping that the SHORT sleeves on cardigans/ jumpers/ coats is over

Hoping the knee high boots are here to stay.

I don't enjoy the hot summer and want to start planning my wardrobe (back to work so should be able to afford to buy some clothes again!)

I'm bumping for you as I want a new winter wardrobe too. Last year some of the major trends just didn't filter through to me, so I want to be prepared this time.

Lots of 'midi' skirts if you believe the magazines...

Animal print still in (reptile and leopard.)

Star prints also big - I saw a lovely star print gauzy maxi (Oasis I think, but not in yet.)

Multi coloured/patterned trews (as a pear shape, not really my thing...)

I went shopping this weekend and want (a) short zebra print leather skirt from Tara Jarmon (b) black leather "biker" boots from Fratelli Rossetti (b) a pale grey leather handbag with pink silk lining and ribbon tie from Repetto (bargain of the century if you ask me!)

Lots of berry colours, deep reds, purples etc, also second the animal prints, here to stay (but be minimal)

The vintage 'look' is going to be strong, lots of lace, plus anything with a Luxe feel, (I know some hate that term on here, but hey ho), anything with jewel embellishments, detailing.

and loads of fur, on handbags, to scarfs, cardigans, coats etc etc...

Trousers are tailored, slim fitting to the ankle...and cut offs.

Skirts are also mini pleated and long. (not for me i'm afraid)

Repetto hand bag but in pale grey (not on web site) and it is much prettier with the silk ribbon draw string drawn! It's super light and soft and I am off to buy it today!

Apparently polo neck jumpers are in this a/w. Not sure if that is a trend I will be following as they really don't suit me!

Love berry colours but not so keen on animal prints (on me), and don't like multi colours. Tapered trousers look ridiculous on me (5'3'' but need to
balance out shoulders and hips...).

Used to LOVE polo necks until breastfeeding jumped by boobs from nice C cup to JJ... Now a lower neckline is better (with scarf..)

Am small of boob (32A/AA) so can do the polo neck - and possibly pencil skirt which is also going to be around a lot apparently.

Luxurious deep purple and burgundy type colours. Fur and suede. (I like the look of fur but do avoid it.)

There are lots of looks you need to adapt to your own style.

I will try out a new pencil skirt no to midi length

No to polo necks yes to soft aran jumper and cable knit dress

No to Peter Pan collars yes to Silk blouses ( Zara) going to be big worn dressed down with jeans.

Like some of the Heritage look, will give the sixties style tunic dress a go also Tara Jamon.

Tailored Blazers worn with chunky knits are going to be a look I`ll also copy.

My magpie tendency is also leaning towards a bronze sequin skirt (Passport) to wear with boots and black jumper.

Polo necks combined with pencil skirts really suit my figure, and I loved wearing it mid nineties.

and yay to silk blouses

Heritage, elbow patches (har har) and mustard yellow (think posh blokes' trousers)

I know, I couldn't help it. I've been looking over a few mags recently and have been har har-ing at some of the fashions.

Erm. A bit of aran knit. Nice. Although always nicer on the model than in real life.

Yes to pencil skirts worn with pussy cat bow blouses.

Berry coloured cord or velvet trousers - bring it on!

Midi pleated skirts - been wearing them this summer (am tall and slim of hip.) so will continue to.

Love love love the Ali Mcraw 'Love Story' look so will mostly be that and jeans / silk blouse combo.

models dont have busts thats why they look better so Ill try it and look like a dumpling.

I did have a gorgeous one from Mango I wore to death :( and got thrown.

So need a replacement

My dd has just bought this jumper. I might be nicking it while she is at school!

Well I am predictably loving the animal print (have ordered whistles leopard cardigan) and the berry colours (awaiting arrival of aubergine j brands) and also bought some oxblood ankle boots in comptoir.

And I really want a leather skirt and some nice cashmere and thermals [practical]

Loving all the lace and fur (faux of course).

But won't be doing polo necks or chunky knits or pencil skirts as either don't suit me or just don't really have the opportunity to wear them.

Will also not be doing knitted dresses as they just lose their shape but I do want some dresses for winter so that may be a challenge. Quite like the winter florals thing that seems to be in some of the glossies.

Dexter - that jumpers is nice - must say river island has some good stuff in - way better than tosho nowadays.

Oh and my big purchase will be a navy smart coat and also want some loafers with heels.

What sort of boots will we need? I have one pair of taupe flat boots that will definately go another season but I need another pair - black would suit wardrobe best but I prefer brown. Does anyone like these or more ecco or these still more
Alternatively the Boden great leather boots look nice, if a bit chunky.

Last year I totally missed the tunic/leggins/boots thing, which was a pity because it would have suited me - a bit of advance warning on what I need to look at this autumn would be great. I love velvet and already have a shortish skirt and some velvet trousers, so that is good news for me.

I like the echo boots, the Boden boots are also nice, but much more casual.

Once upon a time the poloneck/ pencil skirt really suited me. What sort of top could I try with a pencil skirt instead? I might look for some berry coloured scoop necks with scarves...

My work place is really cold and I only work for 2 days, so I need to buy for work and for home (toddlers and parks in the winter time). So maybe some really nice knits and tops and some good flat/ low healed boots that could be worn with work skirts/ trousers or with jeans?

An some nice silk thermal underwear (from an outdoor shop!). I always wondered how people could look good in fewer clothes in winter, yet not be too cold. Then I saw a really stylish lady with a blouse and skirt (when I had on thick jumper and jeans). I wondered how she kept warm, until she bent down to attend to her little boy and I caught sight of her thermals as her shirt rode up!

I want to work on accessories as well, they really can make an outfit, but I always forget to think about them!

60s style tunic dresses for me, with thick tights and heeled boots or heeled loafers. Goat dresses are so fab, but plenty of high st alternatives. A-line minis, thick tights and chunky flats too, with polo necks (uh-oh)

Duffle coats still good - some lovely bomber style ones in Comptoir, which won't work with my pregnancy bump. Navy duffle coat with room for my bump will be my purchase, but don't want to spend too much since I'll be back to size 8 by next winter ( )

Berry colours yes, I love the 'cherry red' leather making a comeback in bags and shoes - reminds me of the cherry red DMs I wasn't allowed as a teen.

Animal prints will never be out of fashion in my world - my leopard Warehouse pashmina will again be in constant use.

Cross-body bags will be going nowhere, they're so bloody handy.
