How often do you wear heels?

I wear heels every time I leave the house, whether shoe or boot but normally boot. Even just to go to the supermarkets. Not necessarily killer heels but a 3 inch or something like that. I don't bother in the house. Apparently this is weird?? (Said by a short man who I think is a bit insecure about it)

How often do you wear heels and what kind of height?

I wear mid heels occasionally on holidays or at special occasions or at work.

I wear flats 90% of the time, I'd say.

flowery · 28/07/2011 10:55

I wear heels of about 4-5 inches when out working or socialising, otherwise mostly flats for out shopping or whatnot.

bagelmonkey · 28/07/2011 10:58

I have a pair of heels to wear to job interviews etc. They don't exactly get much use.
Usually wear converse or flip flops.

flowery · 28/07/2011 11:00

Just to add heels for working normally comprises walk to car, get out of car, walk into client/networking, sit down. So not taxing!

Halbwahrheiten · 28/07/2011 11:01

I wear heels about half the time when I go out. have hypermobility and am much more comfortable in flats.
Why would anyone wear heels around the house? Or any shoes?

SummerRain · 28/07/2011 11:06

I bought flats for the first time ever last week and ended up doing in my ankle trying to drive in them so from now on it's heels of various heights 100% of the time (apart from my runners but even they seem to be lifted at the heel a bit tbh)

bamboobutton · 28/07/2011 11:10

i wear heels for things like weddings, so once in a blue moon.

IvyAndGold · 28/07/2011 11:14

Same as you, pretty much all the time! Not really high ones, about three-ish inches. I do wear flats sometimes though, I'm 5ft 9 without them so sometimes it's nice to not be a giraffe Grin

Zwitterion · 28/07/2011 11:16

Sometimes for work if I have a stationary day, mostly for going out, events etc.

Nospringflower · 28/07/2011 11:30

Same as you as well, for work and shopping etc about 3 inch heels, for fancy going out slightly higher sometimes. Do have some pumps and flat shoes but feel a bit undressed wearing them. 5 ft 4 so not too short but could do with a bit of height for some clothes to look good.

meltedchocolate · 28/07/2011 11:49

I don't feel feminine in flats. Also I need the height on my legs. I am 5' 7" but my back is that of a 6 ft person and my legs are that of a 5 ft 4 person Angry

I had a knee operation a few motnhs ago and that was really the first time I started wearing flats. I work full time so genrally wear heals for that and being a pear shaped short arse I look soooo much better in a pair of heals. Flats make me feel dumpy! I do wear than more now than I ever have before though - perhaps something to do with turning 30?!?!

RabidRabbit · 28/07/2011 14:13

Special occasions or nights out only. I just can't do heels, have never really worn them so have never felt comfortable walking in them, I feel all out of balance and like I will topple over or snap my ankle in anything higher than 3 inches! And the balls of my feet feel like they are on fire after a couple of hours!

BrandyAlexander · 28/07/2011 14:25

I wear 4 inch heels for work and 3 inches for formal socialising - if that involves moving about more. Otherwise flats.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 28/07/2011 14:29

I have worn heels for one evening in all of my 36 years and I will probably never wear them again.

I am already very tall and I just felt super self concious, it's always really hard to find footwear for wedding etc, thank god for ballet flats and may they never go out of fashion.

omletta · 28/07/2011 14:32

Every work day - out of work flip flops or converse.

Selks · 28/07/2011 14:54

Never. Don't own any.

BelleDameSansMerci · 28/07/2011 14:57

At work, always. Otherwise, when I'm going out or if I fancy it (ie wedges with summer dress).

I love heels or flats. They're all shoes. Draw the line at trainers or Converse though...

TadlowDogIncident · 28/07/2011 14:58

3-4 inches for work and interviews, and about the same height for going out in the evenings (another pear-shaped short-arse here!). I always wear trousers, and my legs are short in proportion to my torso so heels balance out my proportions. Wear flats for going out pushing the buggy though - but I've accepted that I can't manage to be out with DS and look anything but crap anyway Sad. If I could make the rest of me look nice while pushing a buggy, I'd wear heels.

ChaoticAngelofGryffindor · 28/07/2011 15:35

Like RabidRabbit I only wear heels for special occasions and nights out and the balls of my feet kill me after about 2/3 hours. How do those of you who wear them regularly prevent this? Is it because you wear them so often?

I'd love to wear heels more often but this does stop me. Admittedly during the day I use public transport if going out but even on a night out when I get a taxi, due to pt stopping early around here, I still find my feet aching after a couple of hours going round pubs/clubs. Yet I see some walking around town seemingly without any problems.

headfairy · 28/07/2011 15:38

Practically never. I'm 5'10" and got size 9 feet. I look like a drag queen and pretty much walk like one when in heels :o

Meita · 28/07/2011 15:51

About once every leap year.
I last about 2-3 hours. Then my feet hurt so badly I literally can't stand nor walk anymore.

Yeah, heels make me look sexier in a way. But that SO doesn't make up for the reduced ability to run (for instance, for catching a train). Nor for the bloody pain. It's practicality over vanity for me.

BrandyAlexander · 28/07/2011 15:59

Oh to be 5' 10"! (Says short arse!) Chaotic - not sure what works for everyone else but I spend a lot of money on heeled shoes as I find they are better constructed and don't kill my feet - I can even run for trains in them. I am happy to wear £2 flats from the market but wouldn't buy cheap heels.

headfairy · 28/07/2011 16:13

It can be a bit of a poisoned chalice novice trousers never fit, my arms are ridiculously long so cropped sleeves feature large in my wardrobe. And I can never buy nice girly shoes (hooker's shoes - yes, nice pretty girly ones - no)
