50's style on the high street

Am big lover of the 50's trend at the minute and wandered if anyone had seen any great pieces on the high street recently? If so would love to see some links :)

Love how flattering they are for curvier women!

Banana republic are bringing out a range inspired by mad men Smile. Not sure if USA only though.

You could have a look at this line of dresses, super feminine and inspired by the 1940's- 1950's I think they are planning on a full skirt very 50's dress soon maybe keep an eye on them, I have a dress and can't say enough good things about my dress, very nice and they will alter to your taste sleeves, skirt length etc have a look folksy.com/shops/CEEChic

Frustratingly, those Oasis ones are lovely, until I see the length! But I suppose that's the difference between liking the 50s trend and being into the 50s.

There are loads of great 50s style clothes online but not so much on the high street at the moment. Every time I see something nice like that in a shop I get my hopes up and then find they are too short again Sad

Laura Ashley had many more which were a proper 50s length- they may have them instore... This was my favourite but is no longer on the website...

Tethersend, that postcard dress is gorgeous, as is that last dress from Coast Steben but sadly at the moment I can't justify £85+ on a dress. If I could, I'd probably be looking on the Pinup Girl Clothing website!

I'm having my wedding dress made in the 50s nipped waist and flared skirt style (with the 50s length, mind), in blush satin with an antique lace bolero.

Butterfly Vintage Brides in Colchester. I went to a wedding show at Olympia and shuddered at every single frock on the catwalk apart from hers - it was all meringues, tulip skirts and strapless when I wanted something softer and more classic. Plus I have a piece of Victorian lace I wanted to incorporate.

The designer, Amanda, is lovely - really great designs and completely sweet and unpretentious as well, rather than being one of these terrifying tiny orange women with tons of makeup on like at the Vera Wang stall . AND she quoted me about half what a London boutique would have done, for a completely bespoke dress that's absolutely exactly what I was looking for.

Whirlingturban do fab 50s style dresses, as does Unique Vintage (from the US but they are very good and their customer service is great).

I have recently started a business doing 50s style dresses and wedding dresses, so very exciting to see people are interested in that style!!! (I don't make them, I have them made for me - not talented as a seamstress unfortunately).

I love Whirling Turban. Expensive though! They are actually based in Bali as far as I recall. My best friend bought me a voucher to get a dress made but unfortunately I've not been in a position to get one in the 18 months since she bought it for me as I am in a fluctuating weight pattern of pregnancy/miscarriage/TTC/Steroids. Really looking forward to getting one one day.

Yeah they are quite expensive but lovely quality - the little bolero jackets are beautifully made and fully reversible. I am dying to get a 'Peggy Would' dress but need an occasion to wear it first! Why can't someone have a big posh wedding to give me an excuse?? Grr!

Yes, the Peggy Would dress is the one I'm after. I am thinking of getting mine in a fabric that I could have more opportunity to wear than just special occasions. I'm thinking either the turquoise polka dot or leopard print cotton fabric.
