Gaudy but exquisite silk jacket. would you get it?

I was in a boutique yesterday and found a really flashy (lots of bright colours) silk jacket reduced from £250 to £15. The silk was so beautiful. I didn't consider it at the time but now think it might be okay with black trous/leggings and a white cami/tee. It was soft and unstructured. Would it be a waste of money to buy it do you think? The sheer beauty of the material is so tempting.

Would it be suitable to have a cushion made out of it if you never wore it?

Sounds like the kind of thing my inner magpie would be attracted to (esp at that reduction!).

Like you say, with understated trews and a white vest it could look fab.

As you are "only" wasting £15 if you end up never wearing it I say buy it (and then make a cushion out of it as bob says).

Yes, a very gaudy cushion at that! There was lots of pink hues.

go back and try it on. If it suits you, buy it. £15 is not much money and it sounds like a classic piece which you may not wear often but which you will probably wear occasionally for several years. I expect however that you will find that when you try it on there is some style flaw, or it would have sold already.

Thanks all. I'll go back and have another look. It was so busy though. Will now take on board the possibility of dyeing it. It was so lovely I'd consider framing it and hanging it on the wall as 'art'.

I'd pay £15 for your boutique item and turn it into something else- scarf, cushion cover or you could use it to line a hand bag or another jacket.

To be honest, it sounds a bit odd. It's one of those things you need to see but I just can't imagine it looking nice. Sorry!

I think it would be fab with just a black or white camisole and jeans. What colours? I'd snap a couple up if I were you and they were the 'right' colours.
