Ooh I want to know too!

I've had a bit of a spending-ban lately, so the only things I've bought are a grey White Company dress that I am v pleased with and a lovely skirt in the Hobbs sale (although I am v aware how suddenly middle-aged both of these make me sound). Blush

Am going to London tomorrow though, so hopefully will come back with something lovely, although our main aim is to buy some jewellery for dd's prom - she wants a big bronze cuff.

QuinnFabray · 01/06/2011 00:41

Two lovely tops from Zara, one bright orange, one hot pink. Is it colour blocking, when you only wear one bright colour with muted tones, or does it have to be bright with bright? I wear them with navy or cream ( jeans or a skirt ) usually. I really do love them though. Especially the hot pink, with which I wear matching lipstick.

SomersetBelle · 01/06/2011 08:04

I bought this 3rd one along Hamilton which looks very dull but is in fact lovely to wear and very flattering - I am an apple shape so it's hard to find dresses that work well.

But I seem to be finding more dresses that suit recently which is wonderful - one from Laura Ashley (crikey haven't been in there for years) which I can't find online to share but is grey, v necked and has a bright butterfly print. Also this which again really suits my shape.

I also bought a cream scarf from Asda which I also love, it's got a very small subtle print and a lacy bit too. And some silver daps from French Connection. I've been on holiday so a bit lax with the budgeting!

cyb · 01/06/2011 10:16

Ooh

Quin I wear bright with bright usually, or with one bright accessory like a right chucky necklace. Deffo not with black.

I've bought rolled up navy chino trews from New Look (dull but useful) a uniqlo dress in 2 colours which I LOVE, will link in a mo, and some gold jewellry from Etsy.

Love shopping online!

Dang ,dress not on site anymore, I think I bought them all

these are fab though it isn't really warm enough yet (grrr)

thinking about this has made me realise that everything else I have bought is very dull - pretty but a bit mumsy jersey dress from Kew and this in a dark tealy green from the Brora 'archive' sale which I have 'archived' in practical fashion under my bed for next winter (it IS lovely though)

oh and those boden downtown heels that cod has been banging on about which really are v g

HappyAsIAm · 01/06/2011 10:53

Well ....

A mid grey jersey fabric knee length White Company dress, that I wear with a cami underneath. A school run dress, if you will (for sunny days like today).

A navy and white cotton floor length sundress, and a black and cream maxi heavy jersey fabric dress. both from Petite Affair. I wear these with little 3/4 sleeve cropped cardis.

Three cardis from Wallis (3/4 sleeve, fine knit, in white, black and tomato red) which I wear with t-shirts from Next (a navy and white narrow horizontal stripe one, and then two loose ones that come in at an eleasticated waist in white and dark purple) and Gap curvy jeans.

A few tunic tops from Petite Affair to go with leggings.

Clarks Santa Rock (I think) sandals.

There's more, but I am hiding from it atm as I haven't received my credit card statement yet and sometimes its better no to face things until you absolutely have to!

HappyAsIAm · 01/06/2011 10:54

And lots of costume jewellery from M&S and Wallis!

KurriKurri · 01/06/2011 11:41

I like the mumsy dress aquavit - looks as if it would be very flattering.

Selks · 01/06/2011 11:46

Some new walking boots! Grin

Mumsnet these

Selks · 01/06/2011 11:46

oops still learning how to do links Blush

thomasbodley · 01/06/2011 11:55

I'm so bored with clothes at the moment. Everyone seems to be dressing by numbers these days, and there are so few interesting patterns and prints out there. Everyone knows where you got your clothes too - I love the internet but it has killed off all mystery!

I've got some fab dressing up occasions coming up - Ascot, a grand country wedding, and a media London 'gay marriage' in the next couple of months, yet I can't work up any enthusiasm for hats, frocks or shoes at all.

MrsMeow · 01/06/2011 12:03

I haven't really bought many clothes lately - don't need any really and haven't seen anything that's caught my eye.

I've stocked up on Soap & Glory in the ASOS sale, and Boots 3 for 2. Got some Hugo Boss orange perfume, this bag for the beach (even nicer in RL!) some wedges from Schuh, and bought these Red or Dead boots at the weekend.

That's it I think...oh apart from some socks from Next!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 01/06/2011 12:15

Wearing [[http://www.purecollection.com/products-Cropped-Round-Neck-Cashmere-Cardigan_LK-C30.htm this for the first time today (got it for £64 but I think there's a code to get it for £54), plus Zara navy chinos and long navy vest.
Also just ordered this quilted jacket which could turn out to be frumpsville but I need something for this crap weather that still looks reasonably smart.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 01/06/2011 12:17

Cocked that up - this cardi and this jacket.

brighthair · 01/06/2011 13:35

Just cheapo stuff for me!

direct.asda.com/george/women-s-clothing/moda-tie-front-waterfall-cardigan/GEM63148,default,pd.html

also a Moda dress that isn't on the website - blue, just below knee, elbow length sleeves, and just v plain but flattering

direct.asda.com/george/shoes/grey-twist-peep-toe-boots/GEM67100,default,pd.html

aquavit · 01/06/2011 13:52

it IS very flattering kurri - and probably won't be so mumsy when it is no longer so cold that I wear it with leggings and boots and so forth.

iWILLdothis · 01/06/2011 14:30

i bought some whopping big maternity bras last month....wanna hear about them? Wink

oh, and I bought this Monsoon shrug, only mine is bright pink

SomersetBelle · 01/06/2011 14:41

Tell me more about those harem pants Aquavit. Hush texted me to say they're flying off the shelves and they do look lovely on the model.

Do you need to be tall, blonde and willowy to pull them off do you suppose? What do you wear with them?

Hopefully · 01/06/2011 15:36

I bought the kite print one on that page, and am v pleased with it - Hobbs seem to not be doing too badly this year - if I'd had a few hundred quid to spare Hmm I could have spent it easily in there.

aquavit · 01/06/2011 16:15

Well I am tall and blonde but not exactly willowy, Somerset. I like them with a fairly fitted top (look best with vest but brrr at the moment). They are very nice: crotch not at all dropped (ie not MC Hammer ish) and lovely soft but substantial very matt jersey. Also they have pockets which is a bit of a bonus.

SomersetBelle · 01/06/2011 16:21

Ooh lovely thank you. Will give them a go!

SomersetBelle · 01/06/2011 16:24

Sold out. Damn!

JunoWatt · 01/06/2011 16:27

OMG hte most OSSOM black 7/8 trousers from gap £35

JunoWatt · 01/06/2011 16:28

and form MONSOON ( spit hate hate hate)
a "morocco" top, cant be arsed to link

missinglalaland · 01/06/2011 19:54

I bought some high waisted flared jeans! I am so pleased to have my tummy held in by denim rather than popping up and out into a lovely muffin top. Of course high waisted trousers don't go with any of the flow-y tops that have been around for ages and fill my closet. I didn't think that one through.
