We have our work Xmas do in 3 weeks and have been looking at what to get - so far I had decided on these:

Top
Trousers
Shoes

Have now found out that between 2 other people attending they have virtually got this outfit between them - one person has got the same top and although they are wearing shorts as aposed to colloutes they are similar and then the other has got similar shoes! What do I do? I had my heart set on this outfit had spent ages looking and have just been waiting to have to money so I could get it and no someone has beat me to it.

Things is this was the only outfit I had seen and liked - I just don't know where else to start now.

Just go for it try and avoid these other people all evening. The outfit looks very sexy and glam

Springchicken · 03/11/2005 11:53

No chance - there are only about 25 people going and we are all staying in the same hotel and doesn't help that one is my SIL and the other is my SIL to be.

Maybe mine have all been very staid!

teeavee · 03/11/2005 11:58

it's the bustier that's racy.
Really, if you could find a different top, you could still go with the rest of the outfit.

i like the culottes, btw

gigglinggoblin · 03/11/2005 11:58

who will look best in the top? if you look better then buy it, if she looks better, dont. wouldnt worry about trousers and shoes so much, although if you put the bustier with a skirt you would look very different so maybe a way around it?

myalias · 03/11/2005 11:59

Oh right I see your dilemma looks like you are going to have to rethink the whole outfit. Have you looked on the warehouse website?

Springchicken · 03/11/2005 12:02

Gigglinggoblin - The trouble is the other SIL to be is wearing a black pencil skirt which was really my only other option.

They have already brought their outfits so I don't have a great deal of choice in it, i just need to find some new idea's.
Trouble is, I don't like alot of the fashion about atm.

myalias - have had a look at the warehouse website but finding it hard to look at other things rather than colouttes and corsets.

What other options do I have to still look good?

Erm, a dress maybe...

Kelly1978 · 03/11/2005 14:19

I love those colloutes, but can't say I think much of the top or shoes. I'd stick with the colloutes and find new shoes and top.

Ladyofleisure · 03/11/2005 15:26

When i clicked on the pictures i saw black top, brown colloutes and green shoes. I take it these are just examples and you are not considering wearing these 3 colours together. Not being mean just being a bit thick i think!!!

gscrym · 03/11/2005 15:31

Wear the whole outfit, carry a glass and bottle of red wine or other staining drinky, trip over a bit of carpet and chuck the drinks over the pair of them. Apologise profusely while they scuttle off to change and everyone compliments you on how gorgeous you look.

Ladyofleisure · 03/11/2005 15:31

I prefer jewelled V neck top from river island 1B1528 sorry i dont know how to do links.

a gold lurex top (bearwith me, here) can look good with the brown tweed culottes

esp if you're brunette

the word 'frock' sounds so old-fashioned! I'm imagining smocking and baby-doll collar!

GhostofNatt · 03/11/2005 15:46

maybe i'm old-fashioned. corsets just look tarty to me, in a bad way. Also most flesh doesn't look great poking out of something which is constricting it.

Bozza · 03/11/2005 15:53

I like the trousers but not sure about for a works do although mine are v. low key and I always end up looking overdressed in my jeans! Not keen on the corset. Really love the shoes. Am tempted to buy myself some although a bit pricey for me.
