If you were in central London and had 200 pounds to spend

So, am going to London tomorrow and have been saving up!

Should I -

blow it all on one thing in Anglomania

or

buy a few really useful items somewhere else - possibly:

this dress

And a Breton from Hobbs - black and white but with one red stripe

and something else...

Blow it all on the Anglomania!

tethersegg · 18/04/2011 12:04

Is this a rhetorical question? Grin

Of course you should blow it on one item from Anglomania. Or Maxmara (wish I could wear purple or red... or had any money... )

If you buy that white company dress I shall be very, very cross.

iwantavuvezela · 18/04/2011 12:05

I love Cos; Anthropologie; would definately look at Anglomania and a few fun things from Zara or topshop or something like that. But I would spend the bulk of it on a good buy that would last
Enjoy your london trip

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2011 12:33

I love Cos too but am completely the wrong shape for everything in there.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, there's not actually much I like in Anglomania at the moment.

What's wrong with the WC dress, Tethers? :) The one I've seen was actually grey, so it may not be the one I linked to. I promise you that it is nice!

That purples dress is gorgeous - but there's no way I'd wear that much colour all at once.

I'd be hitting Regent Street and getting a couple of bits from Desigual.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2011 12:36

What is Desigual?

OP posts:
Jonnyfan · 18/04/2011 14:13

The White Company dress is lovely!

tethersegg · 18/04/2011 14:26

I don't like it... it's a bit ... mumsy

faustina · 18/04/2011 14:27

I'd nip into benetton - they have some lovely things this spring - big one on oxford circus

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2011 15:22

Omg - mumsy??? MUMSY? Even if I wore it in a non-mumsy way? It just looks really easy and comfortable - a throw it on and forget about it dress. Okay - I've stepped away from the mumsy dress now (but may still go and try it on anway!).

Jonnyfan - see, I'm torn now. The word of Tethers is LAW on here but I still like the WC dresses! :) I like them better than most of the Anglomania dresses around at the mo, actually - although maybe shouldn't admit that!

What do you recommend in Benetton, Faust? Haven't been in one for years and just remember scary coloured knitwear everywhere!

OP posts:
tethersegg · 18/04/2011 15:27

Arf at my word being LAW Grin

Have you never read a peeptoes and tights thread?

A v-necks are law for big boobs thread?

Or a white shoes/black tights bunfight?

I get slated.

I wish more people would realise I'm right.

Although what do I know? I'm shopping for a maxi skirt.

Al0uiseG · 18/04/2011 15:28

This is Desigual I love it, especially in the summer.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2011 15:45

:)

The White Company have a v nice maxi dress at the mo. Grin

I have big norks and only wear a v neck if I've got a scoop neck cami under it - I look far better in slash or scoop necks.

Thanks for the Desigual link, Al0 - not my style tbh but I don't tend to wear colour much and that is a veritable explosion of hues!

OP posts:
ChateauRouge · 18/04/2011 16:44

desigual is grafiti on dresses! Not your style imho...
The WC dress is too low cut- look at the model's cleavage- you wouldn't be able to wear it for work.

LorrieS · 18/04/2011 16:50

oooh - had never heard of Desigual before - great prints.

I'd go for the 'buy a few items' option - def.!

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2011 18:19

I'd wear a cami under the WC dress - can't stand cleavage on show.

Tell me what to look for - a few sensible useful things is the way forward I think. Maybe -

a useful top in the way that a Breton is useful - but not a Breton
a dress - plain jersey, pref grey - not too long as am a short-arse

I bought some grey skinny combat type things the other day - what does one wear with those?

OP posts:
ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2011 22:14

Final late night bump...

OP posts:
ChateauRouge · 18/04/2011 22:29

What about a shortish military style jacket... like this?

Though maybe you're after more summery things?

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2011 22:31

Lovely - but have already got a v similar one. Oh wait - you mean to wear with the trouser-things, right? I will try it - thanks - but fear it may look a bit severe.

OP posts:
MrsSeanBean · 18/04/2011 22:34

If you really want Anglomania - go for it.
Otherwise, if it were me, I would be temped either to get an 'investment' type item from Brora, or if I needed more items, go to somewhere like Zara where I am normally unable to browse aeound (due to living in the back of beyond).

ChateauRouge · 18/04/2011 22:36

I just buy nice handbags, and nice shoes, and hope people don't notice the stuff in the middle... hmm...

I like Coccinelle and Francisco Biasia for bags...

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 18/04/2011 22:36

Thanks. Zara drives me insane - I really object to having to buy a large in their tops and all of their trousers/skirts are too long for me. And nearly everything is polyester ime.

Where is Brora?

OP posts:
ChateauRouge · 18/04/2011 22:36

I like this look (sorry sartorialist link) but then I thought it is a little kate middleton Confused

tigerbear · 18/04/2011 22:38

Check out Hoss Intropia on Regent Street - lovely things.
