How much does you hair cut cost?

DooinMeCleanin · 16/04/2011 11:11

Mine is £60 for cut, blowdry, bleach slices and a temporary colour over the bleach (Fudge colour Box) and a conditioning treatment.

DH is in a paddy. He cancelled our card so I couldn't get the money to get it done. He hasd now 'allowed' me to have £40 Angry.

This is how much a haircut should cost in his opinion.

Oh dear. Mine costs me £12 for a cut.....every 6 months or so.... and I begrudge paying that! Me? Tightarse? Grin

MrsSeanBean · 16/04/2011 16:56

For about 15 years, I have always gone to Richard Ward in Chelsea, and now pay about £100 (my stylist has risen through the ranks, didn't cost that much when I started seeing him!)

However, I was ill recently and couldn't travel, and had a cut in a local salon for £40. I was pleasantly surprised at the result. It lacks something - a certain 'finesse' maybe - but is certainly acceptable, and not only is it £60 cheaper, but I save £40 on train fare too - leaving me £100 better off!

I think I will still travel to London for alternate cuts though, as a ('recessionistic') compromise.

DooinMeCleanin · 16/04/2011 17:05

He is not QLB because the second his back is turned I am nabbing the new uncancelled card and I am going to go and get my hair done. I might treat myself to some nice new expensive smellies while I am there Wink

My DH thinks mine is excessive too. He pays £6 and considers that to be appropriate.

However, I think it's excessive that he travels 30 miles to pay this £6 as he has to go to a particular barbers.

We agree not to say anything to eachother apart from the odd Hmm here and there.

OP, if you can afford it, it doesn't matter whether your DH thinks it's too much or not.

HalleluiaScot · 16/04/2011 17:10

Mine is anything from £50 - £120, and that is every 6 weeks max.

K999 · 16/04/2011 17:11

£120 for highlights, cut and blow dry.... Could probably get it done cheaper but like my hairdresser and he always does it the way I like it.

ShowOfHands · 16/04/2011 17:16

Costs me nothing as I cut my own hair. But I decided a couple of weeks ago to go and have it done properly, with a style and everything and a lot off the length. It's costing me £16.

naturelover · 16/04/2011 18:28

38 for cut and blow dry
can't afford colour right now

DH says it's expensive but I reason that him and DS are free (clippers) and DD has a 12 pound trim three times a year! So we average out quite cheaply!

said · 16/04/2011 18:36

Do all barbers only cut dry hair? Is there any reason a woman can't go to a barber?

My last cut was Nil as I was bored and did it myself - and it looks fine

collision · 16/04/2011 18:40

£39 for cut colour and blow dry plus conditioning treatment courtesy of GROUPON voucher!

I would be FUMING if DH cut off my card because he thought it was too much.

Send him out to buy some shopping - DH could not believe the price of food and I am quite economical!

ShesEverSoFamous · 16/04/2011 19:33

OP, you can tell your DH I'm saying as a hairdresser that is seriously cheap!
said Barbers don't cut womens hair because they are not trained to.

expatinscotland · 16/04/2011 19:39

How are you all getting your hair cut so cheaply? It's never under £20 in this region that I can figure out. Hence, I cut mine and the girls' myself.

lucyspangle · 16/04/2011 19:42

Mine costs 65 every six weeks all over tint and cut.

However My DH thinks this outrageous

I work F/T totaly disregard any opinion he might hold onthe matterGrin

ChupaChups · 16/04/2011 23:25

I went to the hairdresser a few weeks ago and the price had gone up (again!) to £42 for a cut and blow dry.

That's a bit too much in my book so I've since found a new hairdresser.

LisamumtoJake · 16/04/2011 23:27

I pay...£60 for full head of foils, plus cut n blow dry :)

MrsMc82 · 17/04/2011 04:22

I pay 36 for cut and blow dry and 76 for cut, blow dry and half head of highlights I go every 6-8wks and have highlights every other time..... I love my hair dress tho so would pay more, she also does my fringe for free at short notice when I call and whine "I can't see anymore its doing my head in!!!" - she usually says to pop straight in :)

PenguinArmy · 17/04/2011 04:34

IMO this is nothing to do with how much it costs and whether that is a 'reasonable' amount Angry on your behalf

georgie22 · 17/04/2011 06:30

Not sure I understand why he feels he can cut up your card and decide what you spend money on, particularly as you say you can afford £60. Do you work? I've just spent £50 on just a cut and finish with an expert in cutting naturally curly hair. I'm on maternity leave so my dh offered to pay - I declined as he'll be paying for most things in the next few months! £60 sounds reasonable for what you have done.

nannyj · 17/04/2011 07:17

£175 for a cut and blow dry and half a head of highlights.

wendihouse22 · 17/04/2011 18:34

That's about right isn't it? Depends on where you are, obviously. Men are lucky, they can go to some side street barber, pay £9.50 and look like bloody Richard Gere......

They'll never understand the mysteries of ladies hair do's!

vjg13 · 17/04/2011 18:52

About £40 for cut and blow dry and about £85 for that and 3 colours of highlights. I think £60 for yours sounds very good.

polyhymnia · 17/04/2011 18:59

I go to a well-known London salon, and it costs lots but I think it's worth it as my hair is always on show whatever I'm wearing. DH would be horrified at cost - he pays £12 - but I've earned the money myself and have never asked him for it, so no problem.

madammecholet · 17/04/2011 19:00

£130 for cut and full head colour, £90 for half head and cut....every 2 months.

He is living in the dark ages....let him read this thread..Grin

bamboobutton · 17/04/2011 19:03

i used to pay £150 for a full head highlights and a cut and blow dry.

i cut and colour my own hair now as it used to take over 3 hours at the haidresser which used to drive me crazy and gave me a numb bum.

1lumpor2 · 17/04/2011 19:09

gosh, £60 is very reasonable for all that. i spend £26 on cut every 8-10 weeks and colour myself but mainly because i really hate people brushing/cutting my hair!
