Desperately Seeking Second Opinion

woopsidaisy · 16/04/2011 08:32

I need second opinions.
I am 14/16,hourglass,32H.
Do you think I am insane to even attempt this dress, with this belt?
It is not going to work is it?
And I like the look of http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Shoes-Boots/Boots/AZ124-LBR/Womens-Sand-Spring-Boots.html these boots, but not at that price! Anyone seen any cheaper alternatives? Also, have new baby niece-yippee! Suggestions for somewhere that does lovely baby things/clothes,please?

How tall are you?

I am similar size but 5'9, this dress would look all wrong on me... Love the boots though...

madammecholet · 16/04/2011 09:01

Baby stuff is lovely at white company/baby gap or

toby tiger

woopsidaisy · 16/04/2011 09:02

I'm 5'8''.

I have the belt - it's very nice. Not sure if it would work with that dresss - all depends if dress bags out above and below belt. You'll only find out by trying, I think.

tethersegg · 16/04/2011 13:34

You could get away with that dress- but why would you want to? It's vile!

Why not get something fitted instead?

Topshop

Awear

LK Bennett (Bargain)

Pearl Lowe

DP

Oasis

You could wear any of those with the belt and it would look far better.

longislandicetea · 16/04/2011 13:40

tethersegg Lovely choices. Totally agree. Love the Pearl Lowe dress.

Not a fan of clumpy boot with dresses.

tethersegg · 16/04/2011 13:46

White boots

Knee high

Western

Short boots

Long boots

And try Zara for nice new baby clothes...

tethersegg · 16/04/2011 13:47

Oh no, don't wear the boots with the dresses..

woopsidaisy · 16/04/2011 14:48

The boots are to wear with skinny jeans, not the dress. Just wanted something "light" for Spring.
TBH,I don't need the dress, just with it being on sale and all...
madammecholet that website is spot on-thank you!

Don't like that dress, sorry. It looks like a six year old's dress.

Do like the belt.

The boots aren't doing much for me, I must admit.

White Company, Baby Gap or Cath Kidston for cute baby things.

tethersegg · 16/04/2011 15:17

None of my links any good for you, woops?

An acknowledgement, even if you hate them, would be lovely Smile

woopsidaisy · 16/04/2011 18:22

Sorry tethers, your opinion is always valued!
I liked lots of those dresses, but I felt they were a little dressy for school run etc, which is what I was thinking of with the original dress.
I was afraid there was too much going on at the bust/too high cut for boobs with the Boden one.
Thanks for taking the time anyway.

Thanks woops. Sorry to be so needy Wink

Casual dresses are a night mare for hourglasses I find. (Size 10/12 30G here).

For me at least, anything with a seam or belt at the waist looks like a potato sack tied in the middle on me.

I need fitted on top, flaring out or straightish at the bottom, but skimming over the waist with vertical seams rather than horizontal iyswim.

woopsidaisy · 16/04/2011 18:58

The thing is WWWY,that often means the dresses are quite "formal' looking I think. I do agree with you.
I have heard Holly Willoughby say that she can do dressed up/glam no problem, but finds everyday stuff/casual stuff very hard to do.

Anyway,I bought the belt and dress despite all the advice...have a feeling I will be visiting the post office again very soon.Grin
