I like Whistles but that skirt is frumpy no matter what the mags say.

HarlotOTara · 14/04/2011 10:01

Only if you have no hips! I always think pleats make hips look bigger, at least they do on me

FebreezeYourJeans · 14/04/2011 10:03

Awful, I would look like my mother! I agree, only the very willowy need apply.

kittya · 14/04/2011 10:04

and, yet, its the 16 you cant get hold of!!

I love Whistles, they suit my shape and age but god my granny wouldnt wear that!! it makes Boden look cutting edge!!

Hmm I think on the right person and styled correctly (i.e. not with those bogging shoes the model's wearing) it could look quite pretty but as you say only the long and lean need apply.

Which is why I'm Confused that the only size it's sold out in is 16??

FebreezeYourJeans · 14/04/2011 10:07

Maybe they never made it a 16, and thus saving us all from ourselves Grin

kittya · 14/04/2011 10:09

they did, the sales assistant tried to get me to try on a coffee coloured one the other week. Charming, assuming I was a 16!! Smile

Most ridiculous thing I have ever seen! My teachers wore them in the 1970's

JuicyOlive · 14/04/2011 11:24

Don't know about the skirt, but I wish the model would stop slouching and stand up straight.

cruelladepoppins · 14/04/2011 11:29

I think it's horrible - it's what my maths teacher would have worn on a night out in the late 70s.

cruelladepoppins · 14/04/2011 11:30

And she certainly wouldn't have paid the equivalent of £110 for it ...!

Bideyin · 14/04/2011 11:32

It's hideous and would look awful on 99.9% of the female population imo.

Lavitabellissima · 14/04/2011 11:34

FUGLY, remind me of a dinner lady skirt.

I went in the other day and loved this but Whistles has got very expensive lately!

tulpe · 14/04/2011 11:41

model is trying to emulate a Carrie-esque SJP typical pose. That kind of "pretending to be self-conscious even though I KNOW I look gorgeously chic" body language.

But alas that skirt is going to look bloody awful on 99.9% of the population.

Alexa Chung could wear it.

Whatevs · 14/04/2011 12:03

Revolting.

partyhats · 14/04/2011 12:12

I would'nt wear it but quite like it. Styled horribly in the picture though, the model looks like she could do with a better fitting bra.

Even the size 10 and presumably 6ft model looks shapeless and frumpy in it. Mere mortals have no chance. People over 50, (ie me) less than that. My mum, who is 85, might have worn something similar to a wedding thirty years ago.

FrancesFarmer · 14/04/2011 13:41

Its quite Per Una really, isnt it?

polyhymnia · 14/04/2011 13:43

Incredibly frumpy. Yes butterbur absolutely agee.

WhoPutThatThere · 14/04/2011 14:34

It's a bit 'fashion' i.e. the type of thing that chloe sevigney wears and the fashion press go gaga over but is actually a bit hideous. Plus it's never going to look good on normal people. Also very reminiscent of the peach froth thing that colleen rooney wore at the races last year bit.ly/foRIcw

tulpe · 14/04/2011 18:11

OMG. La Rooney looks like Barbara Cartland in that horror!

Columbia999 · 14/04/2011 18:13

A hundred and ten quid for that frumpy piece of shite?????

kittya · 14/04/2011 18:28

Lavita, that dress is gorgeous. Have you noticed how quickly things get reduced there? 6-8 weekly. Ive been monitoring it Wink
