Northumberlandlass · 30/03/2011 12:38

Hey, am going shopping on Friday to eventually buy the 1 dress for 3 occasions....have seen some lovely ones in Karen Millen. BUT, I'm between an 18 / 16 at the moment.

Can anyone give me idea of sizing ? is it generous or meagre ?

TIA.

teeny tiny sizes

cornsilk678 · 30/03/2011 12:51

post the ones that you like and we can find you some options

BitOfFun · 30/03/2011 12:54

You can only wear Karen Millen if you are the size of a gnat on the Atkins diet, sorry.

or not as fancy...

I am 6ft tall, so length is an issue. Also, don't wear high heels as I think I might get mistaken for a tranny (no offence intended).

Any thoughts?

I love that floral one.

cornsilk678 · 30/03/2011 13:03

I have this it's not as short as it looks and similar to your second link.

emsyj · 30/03/2011 13:04

When I was at my very slimmest and an 8/10 everywhere else, I needed a 12 in Karen Millen, so reckon to need a size bigger than usual.

emsyj · 30/03/2011 13:06

You should be ok with length, I am quite tall and have a very tall friend who wears a lot of Karen Millen.

I would wear heels regardless. Both those dresses would be a bit odd with flats, surely? They will lend you heels to try in the shop so you can see how it looks. You will only look like a tranny if you are a tranny.

Northumberlandlass · 30/03/2011 13:11

I wouldn't of worn flats, just not mega high heels!

I think I'm a bit paranoid about the tranny thing as I used to have short hair (don't anymore it's shoulder length)

I agree, I think I will struggle to get into a size 16 - was just checking.

cornsilk678 - I like that dress. I found this one in French Connection which is similar, but don't know what their sizes are like either (just lost weight which is why I'm looking at unknown shops)

They are tiny, I used to be a teeny tiny size 6 and yet I still managed to get stuck in a size 8 dress in a changing room. The dress was completely stuck over my head and shoulders. I ended up having to rip it off. I used to buy Karen Millen tops in a size bigger, I wouldn't even bother with the dresses unless you have a head the size of a malteser.

cornsilk678 · 30/03/2011 13:14

FC on the snug side as well I reckon and very short.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 30/03/2011 13:16

Ghost do size 16/18 with a decent length.

cornsilk678 · 30/03/2011 13:17

I can't find one like that blue one. It's gorgeous. I'd try it in a bigger size if I were you.

Northumberlandlass · 30/03/2011 13:18

I do love the blue one too ! I will have a look around.

Hadn't considered Ghost Libra - will have a look. Thanks ! Smile

Karen Millen also very unforgiving of boobage, even if you can squeeze your shoulders in

cornsilk678 · 30/03/2011 13:19

I want one now!

Northumberlandlass · 30/03/2011 13:25

Oh Boobage could be issue too....Sad

cornsilk678 you'll have to let me know if try it on !

Think I will have to spend the morning in Fenwicks trying on dresses Grin

Northumberlandlass · 30/03/2011 13:28

If anyone can suggest any other shops to try, please feel free !

Monsoon is your friend if a little larger.

notyummy · 30/03/2011 15:00

Really? Big sizing? I always thought it was spot on tbh, or more so than other higher end high street retailers. What I do think is that it was (last purchase 2007 so could be wrong now) cut for slightly pear shaped ladies (thats me!) - probably not good for generous boobs, and quite fitted at the waist. Fine for hips though.

Didn't the sizing was that bad at all, but I guess it may have changed recently.

BikeRunSki · 30/03/2011 15:04

What I mean is that they don't scrimp on boobs and thighs.

emsyj · 31/03/2011 11:45

I love Reiss and find their sizes true (not generous, but true to size). If you like Karen Millen it's worth a look.

Congratulations on your weight loss! Care to lose some of mine for me? Grin
