Mulberry bag? Ebay? Can anyone help?

I would really LOVE a mulberry bag.Dont really want to pay full price, dont mind second hand in good condition, but definitely dont want fake.

Ebay seems like a good place to start so can anyone point me in the right direction,to a nice mulberry bag,in good condition, not too big in tan/brown the in your opinion is genuine.

Sorry if this is a big ask,but I will return the favour,promise[smile}

Head over to The Purse Forum. There are experts there who authenticate bags on eBay. Needless to say there are TONS of fakes.

I'd never risk it, personally! Have you considered a Mulberry outlet?

lilaloves · 14/03/2011 10:29

Ok,thanks.I don't really fancy spending £££££ on a fake either.

I did call the outlet before as we live at other end of country, they werent that helpful and had no neutral colours in.
I will try the sales again instore and online but always seem to miss out.

I have bought a Mulberry bag from Ebay, it wasn't brand new but was in very good condition and I paid a fraction of the price of a new one. This link takes you to a really useful guide on Ebay about how to spot a fake Mulberry reviews.ebay.co.uk/How-to-Spot-a-Fake-Mulberry-Bag_W0QQugidZ10000000003389086 and I found it really helpful when I bought mine. PuraVida · 14/03/2011 11:02

ebay is full of fakes, i know my mulberries and would feel very uneasy buying off there. that being said i second the advice of slowshow and advise a good look on the purseforum. there are a few 'authenticated' sellers who can be trusted.

also would advise lovehandbags.com for second hand but excellent condition and authenticated

barbieisaskinnybitch · 14/03/2011 11:04

I have a trusted seller for you...will find a link

ednurse · 14/03/2011 11:06

Also second asking on The Purse Forum.

geordieminx · 14/03/2011 11:10

D'ya reckon this is the real deal?

barbieisaskinnybitch · 14/03/2011 11:17

It's only £100 less than rrp - why not buy instore?

geordieminx · 14/03/2011 11:23

They don't seem to have it online?

lilaloves · 14/03/2011 12:03

Thanks everyone,I'll try lovehandbags.
So even the bags with dustbags, carecards, etc can be fakes?

Another recommendation for the purse forum - there's a whole board dedicated to mulberry and they're helpful and lovely on there!

geronimoo · 14/03/2011 20:15

try their factory outlet at shepton mallet. BIG discounts if you don't mind the bag being 'last' season (with mulberry there never IS a 'last' season IMO)BIG discounts, but ring first.

lilaloves · 14/03/2011 20:27

It was the shepton mallet outlet that I called, not that helpful tbh, might try again though.

My DH buys mulberries in airport terminals..you can call and prearrange - 20% cheaper...
Will never buy on ebay..you can tell its a real one if you go to mulberry store and they check the number....I dont believe there are any real ones on ebay...Sorry tractor..

OrangeBernard · 15/03/2011 07:15

Omg they are so expensive even second hand.

lilaloves · 15/03/2011 11:58

Im going to phone shortly, they were sooo unhelpful and rude though

I asked whether they had anything in a neutral colour in a more structured/tote type style. She said just out of earshot to another assistant"she'S looking for a more structured style, whatever the hell that is"!!

Was kind of glad they didnt have anything so that I didnt have to give them my business!

Maybe I wont get such a snooty assistant next time. Are there anyother outlets I could try?

There is an outlet in York where I got my Bayswater Hombre - reduced from £695 to £450 and I LOVE it - worth EVERY penny IMO.

ajandjjmum · 15/03/2011 12:44

There's one at Bicester Village too.

hifi · 15/03/2011 19:19

i have 2 friends who buy designer bags from ebay, they are all fake, they only get them a couple of hundred pounds cheaper as well.
agree with airport, 20% for the real thing is great.

PuraVida · 15/03/2011 21:01

When you phone the outlet you need to be quite specific ie ' I'm looking for a bsyswater in black'. They are a shop, with customers needing serving. I'd suggest you research some recent styles you like and ask about them specifically

lilaloves · 16/03/2011 07:14

Puravida-As they tend to carry old/last season stock its very unlikely they would have current styles on their website.
Unless its a classic style which they get very few of,and when they do its usually a more statement colour.
This is what they said. They only had white, purple or a crackled black leather.

I cant say Im 100% familiar with every style in their back catalogue, hence the reason I didnt specify a style but rather a colour.

There is NO excuse for staff to be rude to customers, and please dont insinuate it was my fault thanks.

And with regards to "They are a shop with customers needing serving"

I was also a potential customer,I was paying over phone and they were going to post out to me,this is a service they provide.

i have a purple bayswater for sale!! Wink but in regards to your question no i wouldnt buy from ebay as the fakes are getting very good and even some mulberry shops can;t tell the difference on a good one.
I brought mine from the mulberry outlet at bicester, my alexa from john lewis and the rest from the mulberry store on bond street or in York city centre.

If you're not bothered by replicas, as long as you get a good one and the price is considerably less, there are some links on here somewhere of ones to trust, search voguking and beubag, although once you have a good 'replica' it may leave you wanting the real thing even more. I brought a replica ink alexa from beubag and sold and brought a real one, not any real differnce at all from what i could see on inspection, but i'm just not a replica person.
