Winter Coats.....

CountessDracula · 18/10/2005 11:58

Yay my Dad just called and said he would buy me a new winter coat for my birthday (after several hints lol)!

So come on what is out there? Want something timeless so will last not anything too of the moment as it were.

I've seen some lovely winter coats about but for life of me cannot remember where now!

Will have a think.

Is it for the school playground? or for going out? or a good all-rounder?

Bought something similar to the Boden one from Next £89, but with a hood as I always find getting the kids in and out the car with a brolly too much like hard work.

Anyway, just had a gander, and not on their website.

CountessDracula · 18/10/2005 12:37

For everything really. I have something for work so doesn't have to be really smart. Quite fancy a fake Astrakhan (sp?) one maybe?

Someone earlier posted a link to this site - what about this one

black though very reasonably priced

Carmenere · 18/10/2005 12:42

CD - what size are you? I got a really lovely fake Astrakhan in H&M but it was in the larger lady bit. I think the smallest size they do is a 14 and it was only £59

puddle · 18/10/2005 12:42

Cd I don't think moleskin wears very well. I've had a jacket in it and it lost its shape quite quickly - also got shiny on the elbows.

CountessDracula · 18/10/2005 12:47

hmm ok thanks

Problem is I am allergic to wool (though I can wear a wool mix coat as long as it isn't against my skin.

Maybe leather?

Will look at H&M though maybe Astrakhan is not classical loL!

Fake astrakhan in Next

laligo · 18/10/2005 12:52

i got one of boden's moleskin coats once in a sale (though still expensive )
it fell apart - the lining wore through, the coat was not well-made and furthermore it wasn't very thick or warm anyway - kind of light and floppy.

(i hate boden - for a reason!)

if allergic to wool how about one of those parka-style ones with furry hood - they can look great - white stuff has a lovely one that i want but it doesn't go up to a 16

(having trouble finding a coat i like at the moment!)

CountessDracula · 18/10/2005 14:54

saw a fab one in Joseph at lunchtime but can't find a link to it, their website is rubbish!

Oooo.... I could have started this thread!

My mum wants to buy me a new coat for Christmas - can I tag along on the coat buying?

I need something waterproof with a hood, fitted and in an autumnal colour and the timeless comments fit too....

You would have to wear it every day for a year to get good cost-per-wear!

katierocket · 19/10/2005 18:16

Reiss do some gorgeous, very classic ones but their pouncey website only shows a few of their items, well worth going into one of the stores.
