Some time ago I let a personal shopper talk me into buying a pair (oh why) - promptly put on weight so they have been in back of wardrobe. They now fit me again and look okay in the sense that I have slim hips - but are they too tacky??
I need to make a decluttering decision. They still have the label on and were not cheap - but it is keep and wear or charity as I can never be arsed to ebay.

I, and The Daily Telegraph, think I look great in mine. Grin

EmmelineSpankfirst · 24/02/2011 16:17

I have a very stylish friend who wears them and makes them look lovely. They are quite thick, god quality denim, and are the cropped/capri style. She wears with gorgeous floaty tunic tops and wedge heels and looks like she is off toe Cannes for the summer season.

I put them on and look like I am going daaaahn Clacton for the summer season.

Main difference being - she is slim. Very slim.

AintMissBeehiving · 24/02/2011 16:18

And a white jeans afficionado.Smile

LemonDifficult · 24/02/2011 16:18

Yes. Michel Kors puts white jeans in every collection.

But obviously, if you rock them with a lot of gold and 'Hairdresser' cut then that's not going to work.

babyapplejack · 24/02/2011 16:19

Don't know about the fashion side of things, but I don't own any white trousers as the potential for a blood stain is too awful to contemplate!

ElizabethHurley · 24/02/2011 16:22

I can't believe that no-one had used this name before.

Seriouly though, they can look great, if you are tall and slim, and they are thick enough material not to show your knickers.

LizHurleysVPL · 24/02/2011 16:30

Quite - there's a whole range of namechanges to be explored. She can't ever wear any knickers [catsbum] as she NEVER has VPL

stapledmythumb · 24/02/2011 16:31

They are good quality fabric and I am slim enough at the moment. Not tall though. Does this make them unacceptable?

I've never come to grips with the widely-held prejudice against white jeans on MN. White jeans are a summer wardrobe staple. What's not to like?

recklesspixie · 24/02/2011 16:36

Love white jeans, wear them every summer...

GetOrfMoiLand · 24/02/2011 16:41

AS long as they are good quality, haven't faded to a yellowy white, and you are thin, it is no problem.

They do need to be of a thick material though.

RedwingWinter · 24/02/2011 16:45

I think so long as they fit (which they do) and the material isn't too thin, then it's fine.

What will you be wearing them with? In the fashion mags, I notice a lot of all white outfits, but also lots of really bright colours (fuchsia, orange, cobalt etc) being worn with white. That seems like a fun look.

stapledmythumb · 24/02/2011 16:55

I think I might be tempted to wear them with fuchsia, cobalt etc. as I like and suit strong colours.
I do like the all white look on models - but think it is maybe a bit much for RL??
What do people think?

I love my white jeans. Either worn with coral/cobalt/fuchia brights or equally nice with very light tan/caramel.

I do live somewhere hot though and I think that helps the look IYKWIM!

blossoming · 24/02/2011 17:47

I am afer some white bottoms, and I would like a code so I can wear fuchsia and cobalt with them. In fact the model in the cobalt is my 'muse' for summer 11 Wink.

bibbitybobbityhat · 24/02/2011 17:59

ALL Italians - men, women, grandparents, spend their entire summers in white jeans. Fact.

cybilliberty · 24/02/2011 18:01

noddyholder swears by them. And she's uber stylish

polyhymnia · 24/02/2011 18:14

I am not at all slender like Ms Hurley - though my legs are long and slimmish - but I love mine and they're a summer staple for me too (do spend quite a lot of time in Italy in summer, perhaps I have become acclimatised/ de-sensitised). Mine are in fact always Italian (Marina Rinaldi), never thin material, almost always cropped, always with a tunic or similar length top. Particularly like a monochrome look with black or black and white top, but intend to explore other options this summer.

EdgarAleNPie · 24/02/2011 18:15

if you are 1) pert and 2) assured of a dirt free day, why not?

Housemum · 24/02/2011 18:35

If I wore white jeans, DH would spend whole day wailing, "Waaahhhh, Body-foor-orm" every time I walked past. So none here! I think they look great on a sunny day, but I don't think they'd stay clean long enough until the DDs are a bit older :)
