Speziale is certainly the correct term.

Blackduck · 17/02/2011 10:54

You know when you go on M$S website and can search a particular collection? I want to be abe to NOT serach Per Una!! There I was idly looking for a skirt and that thing was the first on the page!!

OP posts:
moondog · 17/02/2011 11:13

Ah yes, an opt out menu for Per Una, with subsections for 'Speziale' and 'nasty man made fibre selection for MILs'

Blackduck · 17/02/2011 11:17

and elasticated waistbands....(I think we are describing the Classic collection, the day I find something in there I like is the day I shoot myself)

MIL adores Per Una. In fact she modelled for them in a catwalk show at her local store and was overjoyed that they let her keep the clothes! Shock Blush

She's a big fan of the frou frou.

Clarnico · 17/02/2011 11:29

I walk into my local M&S and take a glance at Per Una (in its own enclave at the far end of the shop) and it doesn't look too bad. I had a perfectly normal pair of jeans from there (no frills, no ra-ra hem or bizarro choppy pockets) and a bag (very plain, no weirdy chain/rope/belt combo handle, no faux dinosaur hide print down one side).

Then I come on here and mners have a knack of finding the most incredible 'I saw you coming' articles of clothing that frankly scare me.

I don't go into the hallowed enclave of frilly fraekwear any more. I stay down the normal non-frightening end of the shop.

moondog · 17/02/2011 11:30

I saw a colleague wearing a very nice corduroy coat the other day and it was hard to maintain my admiring face when she said Per Una.

Guffaw at MIL

TigerFeet · 17/02/2011 11:32

£95

ninety five quid

Shock

fuck me.

Fimbo · 17/02/2011 11:34

It's not just Per Una though. The whole shop is naff. Seriously when have you ever bought anything from there apart from lingerie?

catinboots · 17/02/2011 11:47

I bought some nice jeggings in there the other day Blush

AintMissBeehiving · 17/02/2011 12:05

I do like M & S shoes! And Percy Pigs.

FoundWanting · 17/02/2011 14:26

Their make-up is good, especially the liquid eye-liner.

Emo76 · 17/02/2011 14:32

designed for making an impact - no sh*t!

Emo76 · 17/02/2011 14:34

Also may I add that "speziale" appears to mean apothecary in Italian. hahahahhahahahahaHA!

YoginiBikini · 17/02/2011 14:42

Blimey

tethersend · 17/02/2011 15:04

I'm shocked and saddened.

polyhymnia · 17/02/2011 15:36

As someone who's certainly old enough to be a granny and a MIL, wouldn't be seen dead in Per Una - it looks awful in our local shop and, in 99.9% of cases, is awful. I agree with whoever said it has completely lost its way. Who is it for??? Yes, there are a very few OK plain items lurking among the dross, but I really don't want to look.

Also agree that Portfolio a complete waste of space - is that for people older or younger than Per Una, or what ?? Sure I read it was to be phased out - good thinking, if so.

As for Classic Collection being for MILs, you lot must have some very old MILs - though can't imagine buying it however old I become.

Altogether, much of their womenswear is naff. Only label I take trouble to check through in bigger stores, such as Marble Arch, is Autograph. Not all wonderful, but have got some good everyday stuff from them.

FluffyMummy123 · 17/02/2011 15:45
