Did anyone else get a present from lovely Johnnie in the post this morning?

I have been virtuous and spent mine on dd's spring/summer coat

Arghhh! Spent mine on pants for dd but didn't even attempt to combine with any discount. Tbh, they were still pretty expensive - £18 with postage. They had better be the best pants she has ever had by a particularly lengthy country mile...

employmentlawquery · 17/02/2011 14:04

I have been dead cheeky and phoned them. They very reluctantly gave me £10 credit (not £15)and 10% off and then very reluctantly let me use the ST15 code instead so that I got a child's jumper here for £13.80, I believe p and p included, that was on sale at £28 originally.

It is a lovely jumper that I had my eye on for ages, and I guess if I ordered it from somewhere else for £9 plus £4 without any hassle I would be very chuffed. I think that it is a shame that I do not feel more chuffed and I suspect their marketing, which is usually tres clever, is backfiring in this instance. I ought to be feeling spoilt by Johnnie and not vaguely irritated.

employmentlawquery · 17/02/2011 14:06

By the way, if anyone has a voucher burning a hole in their pocket, I think those jumpers would look nice on little girls who like nauical thing also.

PS the girl I spoke also said that they had to be very careful because they couldn't go on what people told them about their accounts (the implication possibly being that I had got a voucher and was lying possibly). On the one hand that is perhaps reasonable in itself, but the whole encounter was rather different from what you usually get on the phone to Boden, which is an enthusiasm to deluge the customer with niceness....

kittya · 17/02/2011 15:36

I think they got caught out with that spend 30 get 10 off offer last year when we all did it and used a 15percent off code on top of it. They have been more careful ever since. So, what did you all buy? And what girls pants did you spend 28 on AFTER the discount? Sorry about my lack of pound signs, boody iPhone.

partyhats · 17/02/2011 15:44

I got one too this morning for £10, don't think I am a valued customer as I only buy stuff for dds in the sale.
Does anyone have a code I can use with it to get free p&p and 15%?

polyhymnia · 17/02/2011 15:58

ST15

Carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2011 16:29

I have no idea what to buy. I have been hunting through the girls stuff for something nice for dd (nearly 10 but wears a 13-14 in Boden). Any suggestions? I have been looking at the ticking short straightish skirt but the reviews suggest the waist is not comfy. Anyone got one for their DDs or able to recommend something that is really lovely? She is more preteen than girly girly iykwim.

kittya · 17/02/2011 16:37

there's nothing for that age group in girls. Stay away from the jeans, they will never fit her. The t shirts are too babyish. The Winter collection was much better. Spend it on a pair of pumps or pj bottoms for yourself!! or get your daughter the pack of knickers or a pair of pj's. Its really dire for that age group, I was looking for a 10 year olds birthday and left it. Theres no choice and that blinking anorak is in every single season and its as thin as anything!!

OhCobblers · 17/02/2011 16:58

i got £10 off this morning that i was just about to bin until i saw this thread Grin

am thinking about a dress for DC2 - are they worth it (probably for £10 which is how it works out after disc and voucher)? is 2-3 the right age group for a nearly 2 year old or worth going up a size?

tulpe · 17/02/2011 17:02

Carrotsandcelery - my DS is also 10 but wears an age 13 in boyswear. However, I have found that the JohnnieB range is much better for him in terms of fit and providing him with something that he actually wants to wear

Carrotsandcelery · 17/02/2011 17:53

Thanks tulpe I shall have a look there then - it might have something more appealing.

HildegardVonBlingen · 17/02/2011 18:48

Cobblers, my DD is six, and is in 9-10 or 10-11 in Mini B. I don't know who Johnnie models the stuff on.

OhCobblers · 17/02/2011 18:54

HVB bugger! thats really thrown me!! DC2 is pretty average for age, though perhaps a tiny bit on the tall side, so do we think 3-4 will do it?
there are free returns so worth a shot i guess?

cabbageroses · 17/02/2011 18:57

well I got mine for £10 today and I still cannot find anything that I want- have ordered 2 items recently and that's it. Hoped the voucher might be able to be used for the summer stuff but the use by date is the 28th feb.

HildegardVonBlingen · 17/02/2011 20:17

Hard to know, Cobblers. My DD is extremely tall, and very well built if that's any use. DS is much more average in height and build, and I tend to get him one size up, which gets at least two years of wear (though I've noticed from the fleece hoodies that the girls' sizing is completely different from the boys': I had to get age 11-12 in hoodies for DD, but DS's boy's age 11-12 hoody swamps her.)

icapturethecastle · 17/02/2011 20:23

I got a £10 one today and with the mumsnet discount got a skate hoody for DS down from £26 to £13.20 delivered - quite impressed! These marketing ploys always work on me.

higgle · 18/02/2011 07:37

Employmentlawquery - like you I was outraged about not getting a voucher - regular customer for 15 years!( when most people didn't know the 4 page catalogue existed)Anyway I got a £15 credit as posted above by ringing to complain,. then, lo and behold, I got a £10 voucher in the post and a new catalogue with 15% off yesterday. Blush I might buy a laundered blazer - but no one will tell me if they are any nicer than the reviews suggest - does anyone on this thread have experience?

Nospringflower · 19/02/2011 10:59

I just got a £10 voucher today - would have been happy but now feel like I should have got £15!

picc · 19/02/2011 12:08

same
'only' got £10 Angry

but have spent it, anyway! Grin

MummyAnnabella · 19/02/2011 14:55

Yeah only a tenner here but was v sneaky and used it twice!! Couldn't believe it let me. Only split my order in two initially as my catalogue has silly spend 150 get 15 off but only get 8 off 80 type thing. So did 2 orders just over 150 to get 15 off each and tried voucher twice. No idea what happens if I send half the stuff back!

kittya · 19/02/2011 18:48

I tried to use the ones my friends gave me but it wasn't having any of it!

MirandaWest · 03/03/2011 09:43

I have never bought anything from Boden but got a £10 voucher a couple of days ago. Am contemplating using it.

amelem · 03/03/2011 11:25

I have never bought from them either, but took the plunge and bought some lounge pants.
