Seeing as though we're doing recommendations/things to avoid!

I LOVE Aldi make-up. So far I've got the lip glosses in every colour, really easy to put on and last ages. The eyeshadows are fab as well, I have the silver/grey combo, which lasts ALL day - easily as good as my Urban Decay/Estee Lauder/MAC ones.

I have one of the lipsticks, it's a bit bright for me but fine as a base under a paler one, and also lasts.

My friend loves the nail polishes but I must admit I haven't tried them.

Can't remember exact prices, but definitely under £2 for most bits. They do foundation etc as well but I've not tried that.

I also swear by good old Vaseline for lips, putting around hairline before dying hair, on eyelashes & brows, cuticles, dry skin patches. And Sudocrem for spots :)

Boots cucumber eye make up remover gel

Boots curl creme - as good as anything expensive I have tried for my hair

BelligerentGhoul · 01/02/2011 19:07

Vaseline tinted pink tin for lips.

Natural Collection blushers.

Radox bubble bath.

Aveeno body lotion.

I love the boots cucumber stuff. Same as the Superdrug vit E stuff, that's good too and smells lovely :)

Rimmel nail varnish. It knocks the socks off Chanel or any other expensive nail varnish I've tried.

namechangesgalore · 01/02/2011 21:48

Boots Botanics day cream - fab.

Not cheap but amazing value - all Soap and Glory stuff. Love the day cream in a silver tube with a glow to it (might be called Good to Glow or something like that).

Jammygal · 01/02/2011 21:48

Rimmel eye liner as good as any Mac liner ;)
Sudocrem for all round niggles.
Blisteze for chapped lips.

mippy · 01/02/2011 21:53

Barbara Daly (Tesco) foundation.

purpleknittingmum · 01/02/2011 21:59

Another vaseline fan, always have a tin about, love the rose tint one too!

New to Aldi, not yet tried the make up, but will get some lip gloss, need to put some 'proper' colour on my lips I think!

I use the massive bottle of body lotion, really thick and creamy!

lololizzy · 01/02/2011 22:11

always the Vaseline tins. Love the aloe one. The tins are 3 for 2 in Superdrug at mo'..have stocked up!!

lololizzy · 01/02/2011 22:14

Barry M nail varnishes..amazing colour range

lololizzy · 01/02/2011 22:20

Scarlett & Crimson (actually made by the Ruby and Millie ladies)face mattifying papers from Superdrug.
I Care brightening eye drops ( i think Wilco's do them, but have just stocked up on a load for £1 each from a cheapy shop i forget name of)- just as good as Optrex etc in terms of brightening

namechangesgalore · 01/02/2011 22:26

yy to Blisteze - nothing else works anywhere near as well. One lot of that is better than all day applications of normal lip balms.

Do all Aldi stores stock the make up? I might try it.

Duna · 01/02/2011 22:27

Collection 2000 liquid eyeliner- not found one that beats this. So easy to apply and lasts brilliantly.

TragicallyHip · 01/02/2011 22:31

Rimmel 60 second nail varnish, brilliant!
Boots sensitive eye make-up remover and cleanser
Just started using Aldi eye cream, so far so good
Vaseline defo good for lips
Soap and glory hand cream (not sure if that would class as budget tho)

namechangesgalore · 01/02/2011 23:19

I think the thing about Soap and Glory is that the stuff is as effective as the much more expensive brands but quite a lot cheaper.

lololizzy · 01/02/2011 23:23

Never been a Revlon fan but just got their lip glide colour gloss, 2 for £1 in Poundland and really like them

Casylis · 01/02/2011 23:23

Nivea - nothing posh, just the bog standard nivea. Brilliant stuff

CointreauVersial · 01/02/2011 23:23

I'm another fan of Boots Cucumber Eye MakeUp Remover Gel. Costs about 20p a bottle, lasts for ever.

purpleknittingmum · 02/02/2011 06:32

Natural Collection mascara from Boots, £1.99

Never noticed any mascaras making my lashes longer, thicker whatever so don't spend loads on it, does for me!!

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 02/02/2011 09:19

My SIL bought me some George make up from Asda - eyeshadow and nail varnish in lovly bright fashion colours - was pleasantly surprised. Was on offer for £1 I think.

Otherwise Rimmel nail varnish

peanutsmuggler · 02/02/2011 09:58

Vaseline Intensive Care cocoa butter body lotion.

Carmex lip balm

Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation and Masterpiece Mascara

Vaseline
Dove gradual tan
Rimmel mascaras
Rimmel 60 sec nail polish

ENormaSnob · 02/02/2011 12:34

Saint moritz fake tan. Cost about 3 quid and is easily as good as st tropez.

Supermarkets own mousse and hairspray.

TragicallyHip · 02/02/2011 12:46

ENormaSnob where can you get that from?
