OP posts:
ohmeohmy · 01/02/2011 09:48

mine's just arrived.

virgo1979 · 01/02/2011 09:51

am planning to! going to check out asda first - rumours its scanning at £25?? otherwise will be a treat with my boots points. Need to get out of my 'slummy mummy' mode.....

SuperTheoryofSuperEverything · 01/02/2011 09:52

Me!

I bought morrocan oil too, so am expecting miracles.... Wink

valiumredhead · 01/02/2011 09:54

I lingered over it yesterday in BOOTS but decided against it as I'm not sure it could cope with my stupid, frizzy, thick unmanageable hair.

ditzymare · 01/02/2011 10:43

I did. It does make my hair look bigger and gives it a nice style. But it takes ages to do and I just can't get the hang of the rotating brush. I will reserve my final judgement until I have practised more. Grin

5DollarShake · 01/02/2011 12:53

Not the thread the other day, but I did buy it as a result of the mammoth earlier thread on here!

Valium - yours is the sort of hair it produces the greatest transformation on! Grin I have the same sort of hair and wouldn't be without it now. If a, I have 2 in case something ever happens to the first one. Blush

charlottesmum5 · 01/02/2011 12:55

Mine has just arrived. I've just washed my hair and am gonna give it a go after I've drunk my coffee!

ChablisLover · 01/02/2011 13:06

Hi there

I started the thread yesterday to big hair or not.

My Local asda are scanning them at full price - think that was a one-off glitch.

Bought one today and can't wait to try out.

Emo76 · 01/02/2011 13:23

Hi - I got one from Asda in Clapham for £22 about a fortnight ago, in fact I got two and ebayed one. Not sure where you all are but worth trying if you are local!

cornsilk · 01/02/2011 13:25

I git the last one from my local argos. Is the brush meant to spin round? Mine doesn't. I can't get the hang of it yet at all.

5dollarshake Thing is I need the 'pull' of a round brush to staighten my hair. I'm not convinced that this will have enough ooomph.

Libra · 01/02/2011 13:41

I bought one last week from Sainsbury's as a result of the mammoth thread before Christmas.

It is wonderful! And I have very bushy frizzy hair. I really love it and have used it every single day since buying it.

I have never been able to do the 'salon' thing of using a round brush and drying at the same time - in fact I always used to leave my hair to dry naturally and just 'whooshed' it a bit with my hands.

But now I use my big hair everyday and look quite stylish (I think!)

shufflebum · 01/02/2011 14:25

Mine arrived yesterday and I had a go with it last night. Think I need more practice as I'm a bit disappointed. It took just as long as my normal blasting with a hairdryer then running straightners over it and although my hair had a bit more oomph to it, my layers all flicked out in different directions. Also it was a bit damp out this morning when walking the dogs so my hair is now back to normal.

moragbellingham · 01/02/2011 15:01

I saw a ticket on an Asda shelf today for the BBH at £22.50 in the sale. All sold out thoughSad

ditzymare · 01/02/2011 16:48

Bloody hell am I the only one who paid full price. I didn't know they were on offer. Envy

sweetheart · 01/02/2011 16:52

I brought one yesterday after giving up with the big hair crimper thing. It's okay and does give volume for about an hour but my hair still falls flat after that - and yes I did use moose AND hairspray.

I'll have to have a few more goes with it before I decide if I'm keeping it or not.

mum295 · 01/02/2011 17:41

I bought it after the original thread a couple of weeks back. Love it!

wildstrawberryplace · 01/02/2011 18:04

I bought one in Asda yesterday hoping it would be half price but no, it went through at £45.

KristinaM · 01/02/2011 18:09

Yes I bought one and discovered it's no use on fine straight hair. Sigh. Do you think in can eBay it?

HalfTermHero · 01/02/2011 18:32

What is the Babyliss root boost (the root crimper thing) like? Does anyone know which is best the root boost or the Big hair - Which one to go for? I have fine, straight, hair Confused

TattyDevine · 01/02/2011 18:39

I bought one on the basis of the big thread raving about them.

I'm not overjoyed and dont really use it - but I haven't been doing much at all lately as I've been seriously ill with pneumonia so time will tell. But from the couple of times I've tried it, I suspect its nothing I cant do with my hairdryer and round brush, and in fact I think I get more control and heat from the hairdryer and round brush. Its all a faff though, I have long hair that needs doing in sections and whilst its reasonably fine and well behaved hair, there's lots of it.

I'm thinking of losing some length soon and having more defined layers put in and will try it again after that. I wouldn't even rule out a bob in a year or so and therefore am going to hang onto it for now. But at this stage I'm not convinced it wont be just another gadget gathering dust.

I keep going back to curling with GHD's for my volume and movement, its the thing that lasts days and is foolproof...I just need more volume at the roots. Have used the root boost for that too and that gives excellent results if you sort of rake through and spray the roots with hairspray too - best root lift I've ever got.

I do chop and change a bit though.

Most people do find it fairly life changing. If you aren't already able to do fairly impressive things with a hairdryer and round brush, then its definitely worth a try.

jonicomelately · 01/02/2011 18:41

I got one a couple of weeks ago as well after seeing it recommended on here. It is truly fantastic.

HalfTermHero · 01/02/2011 18:42

Right, Tatty, I am very much liking your
description of the Root Boost crimp thing. I am in the mood for some boosting so will get one tomorrow.Smile Thanks for the appraisal!

alemci · 01/02/2011 18:43

im pleased with mine but my hair was cut the other day and it is a bit shorter and not so easy to style with BH and my hair seemed to go a bit flat today.

SudashesaliveItakeyoutoher · 01/02/2011 18:49

I asked for one from my daughter for Christmas and used it once. I have quite long hair and it was getting a bit hammered with straighteners so I thought this wouldnt be as harsh. I cant just let my hair dry it just looks bushy and mad ! It did work ok and produced big waves on the ends - was going for a Jessica Rabbit type look IFYKWIM - and I am sure its not as bad as straighteners damage wise.

But I'm just lazy I know think about things like this and soon reverted to just sticking my hair up again so its gathering dust with my other 'must have' beauty products.

Ahh well.
