I got one of the root booster vrimper things for Christmas and I'm really dissapointed with it. My hair is very fine and whilst the crimper does give volume it also leave ridges in your hair that are visable.

I've tried it several times and decided to give up with it.

FaffTastic · 01/02/2011 20:32

I prefer it when I use it on my hair when its already dry. Wasn't keen on it when I used it on damp hair, though have only tried it only damp/nearly dry hair the once, so will give it another go.

I love my Big Hair thingy. I had it for Christmas and am now a master of technique!

I have quite fine hair, and it gives it plenty of oomph and makes it look "styled" and glossy. Previously it always looked like straw after I had blow-dried it - I never could manage a brush and a dryer together.

I use it on the medium heat setting, so the brush doesn't spin so fast, which makes it a bit easier to manage.

Hi all newbie here

I tried to get the babyliss big hair in two Asda stores as i thought I might be able to get it for around 22 - 25 , as nearly almost everyone suggested but alas when it came to it they were selling for 45:(, so I got mine on for about 8 pound cheaper on ebay, anyway i used it yesterday on nearly dry hair and i was liking the amazing results it gave, although when i finished the brush had a lot of hairs tangled in it also the top was a bit tricky as it was still damp causing yet more hairs to tangle in the brush.

Now I know the concensus that its less damaging then hot irons but as i am now worrying that it may cause further damage to my already thinning hair, which was prob mostly due to straighteners and other hair damage, can I just ask can anyone honestly say this babyliss big hair although a fab product it won't inflict more damage to the hair?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 07/05/2011 08:40

no you can't say it won't damage your hair because all gadgets , be they hairdryers, straighteners, even hairbrushes all cause damage

fustyarse · 07/05/2011 08:42

I know what you mean, sammy, there does seem to be a lot of hair tangled on mine too, but i really don't think it would be any more damaging to your hair than when you just use a brush with your hair dryer. It def won't be as damaging as straighteners can be

I'm bored of mine now. If I use it when my hairs almost dry, I do like the results, but I find I get a kindd of halo of frizz all over mmy head. Does everyone really section their hair and do a wee bit at a time? I can't be arsed with doing that and tend to just go at my head with abandon. Suppose I do get more compliments when I've taken the time to use it properly....think my har might be too long now, I've grown it past my shoulders.

moragbellingham · 07/05/2011 08:46

You've got to be quick when there are offers onWink. I just missed out on the ASDA price which I posted about and had to pay more - only certain stores had it and there was lots of talk about which ones.

I don't notice anymore hair loss after (four months) with this than with my normal round brush - which surprised me.

MABS · 07/05/2011 09:25

had mine 5 months, love it totallly

sammyg1 · 07/05/2011 09:34

Thanks for replying to this as it was a bit alarming when you finish and see all the hairs on the brush, anyhow seems the norm and your prob right fustyarse, great nickname, i prob got the same amount of hairs when i did it with my round brush i just couldn't see those so much, and i sort of done a bit at a time when i did it fustyarse but it did take a while to do and i too can't be arsed to do that everytime.
