and its just not right on! Was so looking forward to it looking fantastic! Was this one Back not as per picture and just not flattering. So back to the drawing board

Need a dress for a wedding in April - size 16/18, 5ft 9ish, age 36. I'm starting to get fed up with this!

OP posts:

Why are they all so high necked?! My norks would look horrendous in those. Sad
Not a fan of my upper arms so wouldn't do the sleeveless ones either.

madammecholet · 29/01/2011 15:11

The one I've got is great for my chest as it moves the attention away from them and onto my legs, which is great.

Mine has sleeves too woopsidaisy.

:)

BelligerentGhoul · 29/01/2011 18:40

Mine is a sort of scopped cowl neck, which is very flatetring. Went to try and buy another one today (birthday coming up) but didn't really love any of them.

Also tried a stripey Janice in Phase Eight but it wasn't great on me. It seemed to wear me, rather than me wearing it!

BelligerentGhoul · 29/01/2011 18:41

scooped not scopped

flattering

etc

Seem to have abandoned my brain somewhere...

snowbobby · 29/01/2011 19:08

Still can't think where I would ever wear something like this but for you Anglomania fans there is a size 16 royal blue dress here at the moment

You need to order a www.getcutie.co.uk dress, soooo flattering! I have a short cap-sleeved one and everyone comments.

traceybath · 29/01/2011 19:39

I have a couple of anglomania dresses and they are fab.

Definitely dressy and super flattering and I think pretty sexy too.

hellsbelles · 29/01/2011 20:49

Gin - I love anglomania dresses and totally recommend them...but I ordered the red one and ended up sending it back.

It was a thinner material than others I've had and also the red was quite orangey so not quite as it looks onscreen.

I think Madammecholet's one is very lovely and will be a classic you can use again and again.

madammecholet · 30/01/2011 15:52

Thanks hellsbells, I do love it..also v easy to accessorise imo...maybe you should order it instead of the red one you sent back?

tis lovely :)

hellsbelles · 30/01/2011 17:28

I may just have to Wink

Katiekitty · 30/01/2011 17:40

Be warned though re Anglomania

Some, not all, of the draped dresses made from jersey fabric, the material is so thin tis virtually see through. Cheap skates.

Think of the world's cheapest t-shirt and you're half way there.

No idea how they get away with it

madammecholet · 30/01/2011 17:41

Ooh Katiekitty mine is a lovely weight of jersey, not see through at all...maybe some of the summer ones are lighter weight?

collision · 30/01/2011 17:45

i like this!

Katiekitty · 30/01/2011 17:46

Mmecholet I can't fathom it out as some of them are a nice fabric weight, some though are really lightweight. No rhyme or reason to it

Difficult to tell on tinternet sites, but often on net a porter and my wardrobe, you can see when they have it on a white mannequin

In my line of work, I've seen some shockers

Winter and summer

Seems that no two VW Anglomania dresses are the same Confused

Katiekitty · 30/01/2011 17:52

here's an example of thin fabric

http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/97778 check the mannequin pic not the model shot

Thin on the arms especially

Be warned!

Katiekitty · 30/01/2011 17:53

bugger

try again

madammecholet · 30/01/2011 18:18

I agree that red one is especially bad. Mine is much thicker...thank goodness!

Katiekitty · 30/01/2011 18:21

That's good to hear Madame Cholet

I hope you enjoy wearing it

hellsbelles · 30/01/2011 20:38

Katie I agree - I think I mentioned earlier on - the red one that Gin was looking at is a much thinner fabric than other VW dresses I've got.
