anglomania dress

Parsgirl · 28/01/2011 13:39

Phase Eight have other dresses that are lovely although if you can afford it have a look at the LK Bennett website or Vivian Westwood anglomania. I think her clothes darpe beautifully on curves but are pricey compared to Ph8

ginmakesitallok · 28/01/2011 13:53

I've been eyeing up a different anglomania dress after seeing it on here this one But I'm worried that I'm just too bumpy for it!

Pink - cheers for that. Find coast stuff a bit to little girly for me - but will have another look.

I promise you gin anglomania is the way ahead, I am curvy and the dress fits like a glove.

Vivienne knows her stuff and draping is our friend. :)

dickcheeseandthecrackers · 28/01/2011 13:57

Both of those Anglomania dresses are gorgeous!

KristinaM · 28/01/2011 14:15

Gin, you need span under these dresses

KristinaM · 28/01/2011 14:17

Spanx even

ginmakesitallok · 28/01/2011 14:17

Kristina - underwear is next on list

You've had a very lucky escape by the looks of things.

Now buy the red anglomania one. At once.

ginmakesitallok · 28/01/2011 14:39

am tempted - but £200 is a lot to spend - and then I'd need shoes, and a jacket..... We're already forking out about £400 just to get to wedding - so I need the anglomania one for £100!

I know it's Boden, but this dress is faberooney on for the bumpy of torso and a bargain to boot. I'd suggest ordering down a size, as they're quite generous.

(I've ordered three Blush because you can BF in them and they cover my vile upper arms.)

NorkilyChallenged · 28/01/2011 15:31

I went to John Lewis and got a free fashion advisor to help me, really did help and felt no pressure to buy. Worth a go if you've got a JL handy. Might even give you ideas/make you try things you wouldn't look at otherwise even if you end up not buying anything there?

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 28/01/2011 15:36

Is that really Boden! Wow - I may be just about to make my first ever purchase from Boden...(btw - bought a dress that looks identical to the Anglomania one - butblack, not blue, so maybe not the colour for a wedding- today on Gap for £39.
SO for Boden does a normally size 12 perosn go for a 10?

ullainga · 28/01/2011 15:41

How curvy, madamme?
Some of those anglomania dresses are really pretty but I seriously wish they would put them on different sized models as well. The model of one is 5'10 and wearing size XS, as they write, surely even a potato sack would look presentable on her. But it does not help me at all in imagining how the same dress would look on me. So still pretty even if you are not size 8?

ginmakesitallok · 28/01/2011 15:55

queen - that dress is lovely, but only available in a manky grey colour in my size Sad

fairysparkle67 · 28/01/2011 16:09

Queen ... thanks for the link - I have just ordered 2! (will send one back obviously!)

madammecholet · 28/01/2011 16:13

Ullainga I am a curvy 14/16, 5'9 with a c/d bust. It looks tres fab.
:)

QueenLaQueefer · 28/01/2011 16:23

MrsGuy, I don't think so, but if you are a 12/14 then order a 12 rather than 14 in that style.

Gin, It's more a subtle manky purple/lilac.Grin

ullainga · 28/01/2011 17:33

madammecholet I was really hoping you would say something like "curvy 10" so I would have a reason not to get it..but now I really want this one dress..

upahill · 28/01/2011 17:37

I want that red Anglomania dress!! Tis fab!!

upahill · 28/01/2011 20:23

I keep looking at that Anglomania dress!!!

I haev ordered a few dresses from Boutique by Jaeger but thinking of sending them back adn getting that red dress!!

snowbobby · 28/01/2011 22:41

The Anglomania dresses may be drapey and fit well but are they not a little plain?

upahill · 28/01/2011 23:19

The beauty of a plain(ish) dress is that with a couple of accessories it can be totally transformed.

Tthe Anglomania dress looks totaly different with a chunky cuff, gladiator shoes.

It would look different again with stiletoe boots and biker jacket.

Also not being uber trendy the wearer would get years of use from it.

(I've convinced myself now to go for it!!)

BelligerentGhoul · 28/01/2011 23:25

Agree that the Anglomania dresses can be dressed in so many different ways that they don't look plain. I only have one but I have worn it so much and in so many different ways - I'm desperate for another one!
