Iv never been brave enough to buy a red lipstick.

Iv had acne for the last 2 years and after ladies on here making me feel brave enough to go and see my doc.. after 2 months treatment its almost completely gone!

Im feeling great and wanted to get a nice red lipstick to wear for valentines day to treat myself..

I want a really vibrant red red lipstick

Iv got a quite paleish complection and dark hair.

Problem is i just dont know where to start with lipstick..

Can anyone reccomend one?

If you can afford it this one is brilliant, doesn't bleed and stays on for hours. If you can't, this one is really good too, and a great price!

ok, how bout this,
I am Asian and want a red lipstick too pls.

Can anyone help me too pls ?

Havingkittens · 26/01/2011 16:56

My favorite true bright reds are Christian Dior's Roulette Red (No. 13) and MAC Red, by MAC funnily enough.

Lizzie69 · 26/01/2011 17:09

I use Diva Red by Rimmel. Try a few out before you buy and check whether you want a warm tomatoey red or one with more bluish tones.

moragbellingham · 26/01/2011 18:02

I've just done loads of searching about this!

I love the Revlon Red and thought I'd graduate to MAC if I wore this one.

I'm wanting to try Duwops Private Red as I'm intrigued by a red that will colour change to suit any lip/skin tone. Has good reviews on QVC but would really like to try it on.

Maddikins · 26/01/2011 18:03

I love MAC Ruby Woo, it is a matt red red.

moragbellingham · 26/01/2011 18:05

Sorry for a little hijack here Blush I'm searching for a sheer, glossy red too as a gentle intro into daytime red wearing. Anyone seen one?

HettyAmaretti · 26/01/2011 18:14

Morag - Dior Addict High Shine Flamenco Red. halfway between a lipstick and a gloss so translucent and shiny (but not as shiny as the name suggests) but with the staying power of a lipstick.

Chanel Rouge Coco in Lune Rousse is lovely, as is Rouge Coco Rivoli (more raspberry). They are worth the money and have great staying power and pigment. I have dark hair and a pale complexion.
Sheer glossy red that suits everyone would be Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. Foolproof.

bettydoc · 26/01/2011 20:11

I just got that Black Honey lipstick for about £6 from eBay. It is fab!

Changeisagoodthing · 26/01/2011 20:13

Chanel or if you want to spend less Mac

FluffyMummy123 · 26/01/2011 20:14

Hello icod calling

Best sheer red is a no7 one called smoukder

southeastastra · 26/01/2011 20:14

barry m does a really great matt red.

MrsSeanBean · 26/01/2011 20:15

Mac Russian red.

tulpe · 26/01/2011 20:35

Chanel Rouge Coco Rouge Orage - very wearable. I have very similar colouring to you OP and that shade is perfect. Doesn't leave you washed out or feeling like Coco the CLown :)

MayorNaze · 26/01/2011 20:51

cheap and cheerful maybelline hollywood red or fatal red :)

moragbellingham · 26/01/2011 21:05

I've got Black Honey, but it's really dark on me.
Can't wait for a bit of RL looking around the counters and seeing what is recommended by the staffHmm. Will keep a look out for all mentioned.

moragbellingham · 26/01/2011 21:08

I've been looking for that one icod but it's discontinued in all my local Boots!

littleomar · 26/01/2011 21:10

i've got yellow teeth. what about me?

moragbellingham · 26/01/2011 21:13

Just googled Dior Flamenco red and there's one available on ebay - used - but......still over half of it leftHmm

muddlinleigh · 27/01/2011 12:38

Another vote for Revlon Red, their Colorburst lipstick in True Red is good too, especially if you have yellow teeth.

onebatmother · 27/01/2011 12:51

Nars Shanghai Express.

It's a 40s red.

DO IT. You will not regret it.

BerkshireMum · 27/01/2011 12:52

Try Revlons's colourstay ultimate in tomato red. Lasts all day.

coldtits · 27/01/2011 12:53

Ohhh revlon do a lOVELY matt red. can't remember what it's caled, but they are sold in superdrug

aquavit · 27/01/2011 12:56

Love love love Rouge Coco. There are lots of reds in the range; I wear Rivoli (quite a pinky red), you might get on better with one of the others - go and test them.

Works as a light stain as well as a full on lipstick. Amazing staying power and it feels lovely.

Downside: costs a fortune.
