Iv never been brave enough to buy a red lipstick.

Iv had acne for the last 2 years and after ladies on here making me feel brave enough to go and see my doc.. after 2 months treatment its almost completely gone!

Im feeling great and wanted to get a nice red lipstick to wear for valentines day to treat myself..

I want a really vibrant red red lipstick

Iv got a quite paleish complection and dark hair.

Problem is i just dont know where to start with lipstick..

Can anyone reccomend one?

Bobbi Brown Ruby Stain and Nars Gypsy - similar, both lovely.

Just found my No 7 smoulder Grin

However the prob I have with red lipsticks is that they turn pinky on me! Any suggestions?

onebatmother · 27/01/2011 13:28

Yes Rassy. Nars Shanghai Express.

Rassy · 27/01/2011 13:35

Thanks onebatmother - will have to invest in one!

Tomato or orangey reds don't work very well on asian skins, you're better off with a brick, berry or burgundy shades. The Shanghai Express would look nice I think as that's quite deep.

Whoever mentioned getting a MAC equivalent of the Revlon red, I think that one's very slightly orangey rather than a true or blue red so try Liza Red.

I can't wear sheer reds, they bleed on me. Although actually M&S ones don't so much. No7 however, halfway up to my nose by mid morning. Not a good look when you're the make up artist on a shoot and have been too busy to check your own make up Blush

Bluish reds are better for whitening teeth than orangey reds in my experience.

chanel dragon is a lovely colour with a sort of blue base, suits me very nicely and i find others too orangy.

fishie · 27/01/2011 14:13

dragon goes on with a wand so can vary intensity.

If any of you like super shiny full on red lipgloss check out Illamasqua's new one called Succubus. It's AMAZING!

Oops, got confused on the two different red lipstick threads! You're not the asian lady, that's the other thread Grin

Rassy My friend used to wear a base by Estee Lauder to keep her lipstick a true colour. They don't seem to do it anymore but I found this?

moragbellingham · 29/01/2011 19:04

Wouldn't you know it - Dior Flamenco red is being discontinued and I couldn't find it in any RL shops!
