Hello,Can anyone reassure me that I haven't
made a mistake in ordering a bag?:(

I'm usless with links but its on The Outnet website, the Marc jacobs quilted one in magenta, not a colour I would ever normally go for.

It seemed like quite a good buy and I found myself purchasing! Can you tell I dont normally spend so much on bags? HELP

this one .... i like it ....

I have a MJ bag - its lasted me absolutely years ......

belgo · 17/01/2011 12:52

it depends on whether or not you can comfortably afford it.

It is very expensive, even if it does last years, all of my bags last years and cost a fraction of that price.

DuplicitousBitch · 17/01/2011 12:52

its up to you. personally i think it is hideous and over priced but i always think that on teh handbag threads

belgo · 17/01/2011 12:54

TBH it's very nearly half of my holiday budget.

HuwEdwards · 17/01/2011 12:58

Well you did ask - I wouldn't dream of forking that amount out for a handbag - for me affordability isn't the issue here I just don't value them that highly

muminthesun · 17/01/2011 13:00

Yes thats the one.Yes I can afford it,Its just the colour I'm not sure of,I tend to go for neutral colours and think this colour looks a bit cheap?

Anyway, you have probably comfirmed my fears, back it may go,x

i really like it

and as handbags go it's not that expensive

will look lovely with grey / navy

wait and see what the leather is like, that will be the key as to whether it looks cheap

DuplicitousBitch · 17/01/2011 13:04

not that expensive? [hollow laughter]

belgo · 17/01/2011 13:05

Good point Huwedwards. Same with me, I just wouldn't dream on spending so much on a handbag especially one that looks like something my dds aged 5 and 6 carry around with them.

mum295 · 17/01/2011 13:05

Magenta is a fab colour for a handbag - what a great way to brighten up your life on a dull winter's day! I vowed many years ago that life is too short for black/boring handbags. Plenty of time for that when you're (much) older.

muminthesun · 17/01/2011 13:06

Thankyou PURAVIDA.I know its alot of money but its probably one of the less expensive bags on that site!:)

OP posts:
whoneedssleepanyway · 17/01/2011 13:07

it is a bit of a statement bag, won't go with everything so probably can't be your main bag, so i think that is quite a lot of money to spend on that type of bag.

i would spend that much but probably only on something that i could use day in day out.

blondiemermaid · 17/01/2011 13:11

its gorgeous but im apink loving kinda girl Grin

muminthesun · 17/01/2011 13:23

Yes it is a bit of a statement colour, might get bored of it.Its not the bag I'm regretting buying just the colour, would have no worries if it was black or brown.

And I know its alot of money and I'll know next time not to ask for opinions on s and b thread again:)I just thought that this year instead of buying lots of cheap rubbish I would buy one something better quality.Looks like I've failes though and bought something v expensive but looks like cheap rubbish thenBlush

OP posts:
belgo · 17/01/2011 13:25

if you really liked it then everyone else's opinions would not matter very much.

pinkmagic1 · 17/01/2011 13:28

It is far more than I could ever dream of affording for a handbag but if I did have this to spend on a bag I would go for a more neutral colour that would go with everything.

MooMooFarm · 17/01/2011 13:31

I just don't like 'designer' bags. To me they just say 'chav' - I'm sorry.

And I don't buy the blah blah about them lasting years - so did my £4.99 jobbie from the local market Grin

madammecholet · 17/01/2011 13:44

muminthesun don't be disheartened about posting it here, you have to take from the answers what you want to imo. I have posted things on here which have been flamed and I still bought them and loved them.

Imo, as long as you can afford it then you can spend your money on whatever you please. I agree with whoneedssleepanyway in that it's not an everyday colour. Saying that, I had a gorgeous Gianni Chiarini purple hobo last year which I worried about when I bought it, and then wore it every day for 6 months, it just seemed to go with everything.

Wait and see the colour, if you love it you'll find a way to wear it..:)

Emo76 · 17/01/2011 14:09

I don't like the colour myself but like the style. If that's your budget, check out Furla and Coccinelle bags for a more classic colour/style.

muminthesun · 17/01/2011 14:18

Yes,no worries.Everyone is entitled to their opinion,its only a bag afterall :)

i think it's very nice. not garish, good shape and quite practical. definitely a bargain price. mulberry had a similar colour last year and whilst not a mulberry fan was almost tempted!
it'll be very cheerful with navy or black now, then great for spring and summer. buy it!

I don't like it, but then I dislike that colour on anything, it looks cheap IMO. Then again with the right outfit (all black perhaps) and as a statement it might be OK.

This ones's nicer

FanellaFidge · 17/01/2011 16:44

I love this

jumpingjackhash · 17/01/2011 16:46

I love it - the fact that it's so bright means it won't match so it will work with loads of things!

Having said that, I'm a bag whore and can come up with a good enough reason to buy just about any bag.

I'm also a fan of Marc Jacobs - they're very good quality as well as looking good.
