DD2 is finally getting Christened on Saturday, and amidst all the post- Christmas chaos I haven't put a thought towards what I am going to wear for it.

After a very quick look I have found these, but I would love some opinions - especially for bags/ shoes ect.. and any suggestions if you have any.

Oh and I am blonde, not to pale, size 8 and 5ft 10

I have to run out now with the DT's but i'll have another look later

TIA

Love that second one, (think the cream might be asking for trouble, stain wise?) and Id wear it with nude patent high shoes and matching clutch

Have a great day

cabbageroses · 16/01/2011 13:38

They are both lovely but ££££££s!!!

The orange one is striking.

beige if you are blond may look washed out.

IMO both are slightly too formal for a christening.

You would need a cardi or coact on top.

Why not something with long sleeves for this time of year?

CeliaFate · 16/01/2011 13:51

They don't look very special to me, especially considering the price! You sound as though you have a model figure, why not show it off a bit more?
This?

Or this?

This?

They also give ideas for shoes, bag etc.

cabbageroses · 16/01/2011 13:56

Agree that the LK B dresses look nicer- and a lot cheaper!

flier · 16/01/2011 13:59

The LK Bennet dresses are stunning, and a much better choice, I think

AngryPixie · 16/01/2011 14:04

Sounds to me as though you might just look great in a sack Envy of your size 8 post Christmas figure!

SimplyRead · 16/01/2011 14:10

I think the two dresses you linked to OP are a little dull and unless you are a shapely size 8 will probably do nothing for your figure. The LK Bennett dresses are far nicer imo.

dinkystinky · 16/01/2011 14:13

I have the purple tina dress from LK Bennett linked to further on up the page and its v flattering on - would be ideal for a christening.

tethersend · 16/01/2011 14:14

Love the second one...

Would wear it with a scarf like this or [[http://www.uk.forzieri.com/usa/product_view.asp?l=usa&c=gbr&dept_id=2&pf_id=pu03019%2D001&id_valore1=42&id_valore2=&id_valore3=&id_valore4=&id_valore5=&nc=1 this and white/cream heels like this or this or this for a more 60s look.

bambiandthumper · 16/01/2011 14:15

Ooooh I love the top two LK Bennet Dresses, don't know why I didn't think of looking there!

There's one about 10 minutes away so if I have a chance might pop out this afternoon and try them on...will let you know :)

TrillianAstra · 16/01/2011 14:18

I agree with Celia, something with a bit more shape is much nicer - the first two were a little sack-like.

noddyholder · 16/01/2011 14:22

I think if you are tiny which you sound like you are the stark minimal tailoring of the first 2 can look amazing. You don't need bells and whistles!

BlackSwan · 16/01/2011 14:37

Beautiful Erdem dress on sale at MyTheresa. Heavily reduced and fabric is divine.

Also a Dries Van Noten dress on sale if you like florals. Both in your size:

Also, this Vionnet dress (so heavily reduced my eyes are watering)

There was a gorgeous coral Chloe dress last year which would be great, but all sold out on sale.

MistleToad · 16/01/2011 14:37

Those LK Bennett dresses are stunning, how did they look?

bambiandthumper · 16/01/2011 16:19

Right, so I am back, and unfortunately the LK Bennet dresses were very disappointing. The first, red one didn't look good at all on, and the neckline was very strange. The second one, though a beautiful colour and fit, just looked very old, and like something I would wear 10 years from now.

I'm quite tempted now to go with the orange first one as I loved tethesend's suggestion to wear it with nude heels, and DH got me the most gorgeous pair for Christmas which could deserve an outing...

BlackSwan I'm not keen on either of the floral ones, but I love the Vionnet one. The only issue would be finding a jacket, and though i'm still relatively tanned from Christmas I don't know if it would still wash me out a bit...

Might have to bring this to a vote Wink

noddyholder · 16/01/2011 16:23

I still think the 2 you chose originally are the most stylish and elegant

tethersend · 16/01/2011 16:33

Agreed, noddy.

I like the Vionnet one too, but it seems a bit daytime for a Christening whereas the coral one is more formal and classic.

Much as I love the Vionnet dress I vote for the coral Michael Kors dress - will look amazing. What would you team it with?

bambiandthumper · 16/01/2011 17:36

Vino I think the first floral dress is beautiful, but what heels would you wear with it? I was thinking nude might be a bit too beige...

OP posts:
BlackSwan · 16/01/2011 17:39

Definitely nude. Nude Louboutins.

I like the LKBs, but let's face it, everyone will have them this Spring / Summer for weddings, etc. Stripy DVF lovely.

bambiandthumper · 16/01/2011 17:53

If I wear the coral one , DH got me these for Christmas, which I was planning on wearing.

In terms of bags I have something very similar to this. We are going back to ours for drinks and nibbles, and only live round the corner from the Church so I won't need to bring the normal plethora of child related crap too much stuff for the DC's, but something so small could be a big mistake. Should I just stick with my normal handbag?

bambiandthumper · 16/01/2011 17:54

Black Swan I didn't see your post as I was trying to negotiate links Blush , but we obviously (well DH and you) have the same taste Grin
