I bought a pair today. My dh and some mums at the school gates reckon that's very expensive. I disagree. Please cast your vote!

compared to the last 3 pairs of boots i've bought, it's a serious bargain!

mancmum · 05/10/2005 20:33

amazingly cheap -- well done!!

emmatom · 05/10/2005 20:33

If they are good quality and basic style ie not too quirky, they should last a long time and you will get your monies worth easily.

spidermama · 05/10/2005 20:34

Cheap for boots. I don't know where you get boots much cheaper than that, but I'd be dubious about the quality.

Mum2girls · 05/10/2005 20:34

Going rate for decent boots I reckon

crazydazy · 05/10/2005 20:35

Depends really where you get them from. Usually try and go to places like New Look or ASDA first but have seen some in Bank in White Rose Centre and they are £90 which is cheap for that place!!

£60 is quite a bargain though.

blueteddy · 05/10/2005 20:39

I got some black knee length boots from Next, for £65, which I thought was quite reasonable!

LIZS · 05/10/2005 20:41

Hmm - saw a pair I liked in M and S which were almost £60 but thought they were overpriced. Guess it depends .

merrygoround · 05/10/2005 20:41

Not a bad price, especially at this time of year - ie before the reductions start. Bought some for £25 in ASDA but not leather. Would expect to pay at least £75 in John Lewis. But I think Clarks are nearer the £50-£60 mark. Could be wrong.

crazydazy · 05/10/2005 20:41

I like the new wedge healed fur ones, put them on my wish list for xmas

I've never paid that much.

spidermama · 05/10/2005 20:58

I paid £130 for a pair of boots last year expecting them to last for a few years.
Already they smell of cats pee and the heel lolls around like a cow's tongue.

I'm reading this and feeling a bit of a mug.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 05/10/2005 21:21

I never pay less than £100 for boots, then they seem to last forever. My every day black work boots were £130, but I have worn them practically day in day out for three years, I am the sort of girl who has to be surgically removed from her boots and even then only on the hottest of days.

The only time I deviated from this I bought a pair from Clarks and only got the season from them.

beansprout · 05/10/2005 21:24

Saw some for £250 today near Oxford Street.

Blimey!

peckarollover · 05/10/2005 21:27

I think its pretty cheap!

expatinscotland · 05/10/2005 21:28

Good value, IMO. I paid £80 for a pair last year - well, they were an Xmas pressie .

crystaltips · 05/10/2005 21:28

I'm a cheapskate - I bought a pair in Tesco for £35

expatinscotland · 05/10/2005 21:30

Are they leather, crystal?

I can't wear fake leather - my feet sweat too much for that.

I'm lusting after a pair of classic Timberlands -the Waterville ones, to wear w/jeans. But they're much cheaper in the US so have asked for a pair for Xmas from the parents.

Flum · 05/10/2005 21:30

I would say fairly reasonable. I would expect boots to cost at least £40 and those would be pretty plasticky. I would spend up to about £80 on a pair of winter boots.

compo · 05/10/2005 21:31

good value here too. Bought some from Clarks a couple of winters ago for £99 and still wearing them after getting them re-heeled a few times

expatinscotland · 05/10/2005 21:34

I've worn some Clark's for several years, too, w/a few re-heels.

crystaltips · 05/10/2005 21:35

oooh YES epis - they are leather !
Got them on now and I lurve them !!

expatinscotland · 05/10/2005 21:36

Hmmm. I've got my eye on a pair of Clark's as well as the Timberlands. The Clark's are dressier.
