HELP! Anyone else the same or know of anywhere else to try? I always find it difficult to find clothes & shoes that fit properly. Am currently size 18-20 (Hoping to change that) and 6ft 2". I end up buying from same places all the time and get fed up and want more choice. For instance I'm trying to get a dark brown pair of shoes for work can't find any I'm happy with so getting v . I also think that some tall speacialists cash in on it too.

I usually shop at NEXT, Long Tall Sally (but not if I can help it as think quality is US & can be pricey), Faith and Tallgirls

Sorry Kabsy, I have the opposite problem! I'm 5ft and size 4 shoe. Most clothes shops leave me looking like I'm playing 'dress up' in my mum's clothes and my bum is WAY too big for me to buy childrens' clothes.
I agree that 'specialist' clothes shops are cashing in bu inflation prices though.
Hope you find somewhere.

tassis · 04/10/2005 13:27

Much sympathy Kabsy. it's frustrating isn't it? I'm just under 6ft, but thankfully my feet are around a 7. Have you tried dorothy perkins and top shop for long things?

Can't help with shoes, sorry...

Kabsy · 04/10/2005 13:38

Thanks. Not thought DP & TS for long things I always assumed that they catered for average. Will look next time I'm in B'ham. Cheers

Janh is over 6 foot IIRC (don't know her shoe size though!). If she searches on her name she'll find this and might have some ideas.

Kelly1978 · 04/10/2005 13:39

I got some lovely boots and a pair of shoes from lush shoes . They are a bit pricey but their customer service is excellent, and I was just so chuffed with them!
M&S longer length is quite generous too.

I know how u feel - I'm 5ft11 and size 9/10 in shoes. I hate it.

CountessDracula · 04/10/2005 13:39

this looks like it may be useful for shoes

CountessDracula · 04/10/2005 13:41

as does this for clothes and shoes

Kelly1978 · 04/10/2005 13:44

I looked through those links on that first one when I was lookign for my boots. There are a lot of sites abotu catering for transvestites (sp) and older people. It is so hard to find nice shoes though.

Kabsy · 04/10/2005 13:44

OOOOOOOOOOOhhhhh! Like those, and those, and those..... Thanks Countess & Kelly I'm just looking for my card before DH comes home!!

lol, I spent £160 at lush. dp knows about £100 of that, the other pair are still hidden away at the moment.

Kabsy · 04/10/2005 13:47

Agree very much Kelly. Um yes, Found a lot of trany and fetish sites. Can't see that kind of footwear going down well with my job at the local paper!!

SOrry, I wasn't very clear - Dorothy Perkins and Top Shop do a tall range and it's very long!

Not great quality at all, but it is long!

Kabsy · 04/10/2005 13:50

Cheers Tassis,

Won't need my cards then!!! Good! LOL

pmsl. That tallgirls site is good though. I recently discovered a long tall sally hidden away in the corner of allders and bought a skirt which actually comes down to my ankles. I'm now living in that and the boots and loving feeling feminine! I've now seen another skirt on tallgirls tho...

If you can fit into continental size 42, then Camper and Hobbs do women's shoes up to that size. I ordered from the Camper E-shop a few weeks ago, and the shoes arrived 3 days later. Also worth checking out Footshopping . They do Birkenstocks, but it goes beyond the basic sandals, and seem to have a wider range of styles and sizes than the Birkenstock's own UK site.

cadbury · 04/10/2005 14:09

Hi, I'm not as tall as you (5"6) but have size 9 shoues. I get my shoes from Evans or Shoe Tailor.

Kabsy · 04/10/2005 17:36

This is great! Places i didn't know about - should have though of this before! I've got a busy night ahead!!

Seen some good potentials on shoetailor!!! Got to check out footshopping a bit more in detail but it looks good (seen some gold birkenstocks if anyone was looking for some?)also saw a birkenstock that claims to be anti cellulite - want to know more!!! If it works I'll be ordering one in every colour.

I'm 6', size 8½ and size 20-ish on top and 16-18 below. I have some excellent jeans and trousers from Dotty P's tall range which are not nearly as expensive as LTS and not as stupidly long either. (LTS do some 34" but are mostly 36" and I don't wear heels so they drag on the floor.)

Evans have some nice shoes in big sizes.

ThingH · 04/10/2005 17:59

NB I am a scruffy slob, mostly wear jeans and trainers so if you are looking for style I am not your woman

ThingH · 04/10/2005 18:00

(Am JanH btw, sorry)

ThingH · 04/10/2005 18:05

dizzy heights from previous tall person thread - haven't tried it.

shoe-shop.com larger sizes

Kabsy · 04/10/2005 19:31

Cheers ThingH

Am bit of slob at mo thats the problem! this is first job since my maternity leave for DD nearly 3yrs ago!

Dizzy heights looked good for slob times -tho range and stock were a bit lacking.

Glad to hear someone else has probs with LTS!- i have had to have things taken up! I can never work out why all their skirts are nearly on the floor! Whilst I want the xtra length long skirts for regular people usually don't drag on the floor! I think they are a rip off - also find the waist fittings very pinched even when fits everywhere else!

Evans, Shoe Tailor, Brantano, Magnus if near Hampstead or Northampton.

If you ever travel to Germany, try C&A for shoes as well.
