1980's party!

I really should remember clothes of the 1980's, but suspect I was even less interested in fashion then than I am now.

I'm going to an 80's themed party. Would this jumpsuit do it do you think? Or is it more 70's, or don't I have a clue at all?

The picture doesn't do it justice. It's a soft drapey material, reasonably flattering and has a silvery sparkle running through the fabric. And yes £10 is the main attraction, afterall what ever I get is unlikely to be worn again. What do you think?

perfect, specially the price

wear it with cheap claires accessories day glo fluorescent leggings and tons of matching bracelets/necklaces and get a thin strap bag to wear across your body

also wear your hair with a headband

enjoy yourself!

I remember wearing something similar in the 80s although it was purple. I wore mine with a wide shiny silver belt Blush

Don't forget the big hair!

southeastastra · 30/12/2010 20:50

it's fine, add lots of sparkly eyeshadow and mad lacquered hair

usualsuspect · 30/12/2010 20:51

It defiantly needs a wide belt

Thank you!

What would a man war to an 80s party - a man who prefers to melt into the background? DH is not at all keen!

For the man - definitely rolled up sleeves, either shirt or t-shirt. Think George Michael in WHAM.

And big hair !

applecrumbleandcream · 30/12/2010 20:56

I was going to suggest Adam Ant for a man but for someone who likes to go unnoticed what about a 'Miami Vice' type suit - pale blue with sleeves rolled up and a shoe box made to look like a mobile phone with a huge aeriel!

create · 30/12/2010 20:57

lol jazz, DH might have had hair in the 80s..

I'd wear the jumpsuit again, it's quite cool

Amapoleon · 30/12/2010 21:00

My brother had a t shirt printed with Frankie says Relax on it.

create · 30/12/2010 21:01

Maybe ninah, but I'm a child of the 80s, I don't go anywhere where cool is required Smile

He needs a shell suit

CarolSinger · 30/12/2010 21:13

If he's got no hair then how about Buster Bloodvessel - turned up jeans, vest and doc martens?

Or if he wants to have hair for the night - one of Harry Enfields scousers - curly wig; jeans, football shirt and sovereign ring?

Or the gorgeous http://www.netplugged.com/photos/Curiosity_Killed_the_Cat.jpg Ben from Curiosity - oversized shirt, chinos and beret?

Personally if it were me I'd make him wear an Adam and the Ants costume in the bedroom too [swoon]

moragdingdongbellingham · 30/12/2010 21:42

Keep it!!, it's good for the party (with a ridiculous plaited headband and high backcombed highlighted hair a la Sarah Green - or was that just me??) and good for 2011 too.

moragdingdongbellingham · 30/12/2010 21:45

For the 80's male how about a mint green t-shirt, shiny grey suit, white socks and grey slip ons. Has he got time to grow a small mullet or tiny tache?

jazzchickens · 30/12/2010 21:52

With him in a shell suit and you covered in hair lacquer - you can go as the world's most flammable couple Grin

If he doesn't want to stand out so much - definitely a suit with rolled up sleeves (different coloured lining more the better), shirt and very slim tie - preferably piano keys a la cliff richard. Oh, and a pair of ray bans.
