Oh god feeling very miserable. Just had my long hair cut off VERY short and didn't intend to! Showed them a picture of what I wanted and is so much shorter! How long does it take to grow!!!

nods empathetically Same thing happened to me at Toni and Guy a few years ago. Bastards.

wewishyouamerrylissiemas · 22/12/2010 14:18

oooh, i feel your pain I had a ridiculous haircut a few months back. the hairdresser cut my fringe on a diagonal. it was hideous. but it grew surprisingly quickly, then i went to a different hairdresser and they sorted it out. what did you say to them? do you like the style, is it just too short? picture please!

TheMonster · 22/12/2010 14:19

oh no Sad Is it anything like the picture you showed them?

Pancakeflipper · 22/12/2010 14:20

A hat or a fetching scarf?

I think that compnay must sell hair by the bin liner load. I had a mishap with my long hair there once. Never again....

chickenlickin · 22/12/2010 14:29

it is a very short bob with a fringe, coloured darker than before. Used to have long blonde (at the ends!) hair. If I wear nice make-up makes it berable. The picture I showed them was def not this short! I am really worried as going to look totally shit in the mornings when rushing about to sort kids out etc, will never have enough time! I am going to get rid of all mirrors in the house and become a hermit intil it grows! Stupid little girl that did it!

I had a crap cut and Toni and Guy many years ago and never went back... They have 'set' cuts they do and anything else seems to always go wrong..

crap training apparently..

FlightoftheCrimbleTree · 22/12/2010 14:53

Poor you. Toni and Guy seem to be staffed by imbeciles.

I had a haircut there once and the 'manager' sauntered along (I had a student as I was poor) and started waving the scissors about, chopping UP into my fringe, but pulling the hair sharply each time he did it - I kept saying 'OUCH!' but he made noises like I was stupid and didn't care about getting a good haircut, or I would let him hurt me.

Never went back. Bastards. (again)

headfairy · 22/12/2010 14:57

Did you complain at the time? They should at very least refund you if you're unhappy. Adds insult to injury to have paid for a haircut you hate.

chickenlickin · 22/12/2010 15:07

was really embarassed, the girl did say quite a few times that pop in anytime if your unhappy bla bla so either she could tell I was unhappy or realised she fucked up! It is going to take years to sort out.

Hair grows about 6 inches a year

giraffesCantDanceOnAllThisSnow · 22/12/2010 15:15

Im waiting for my fringe to grow longer, its too short unless straightened loads, then it jumps up with weather gr. Need to wait a few weeks before its long enough to wear down so am using hair bands, am just youg enough to get away with them if I do rest of my hair in trendy way and make up etc.

No advice but am empathising.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 22/12/2010 15:17

We need a picture.

It's probably fine.

CeliaChristmasFate · 22/12/2010 19:09

Get some straighteners - they help, honest!

piratecatClaus · 22/12/2010 19:16

hate T & g, so sorry op. what IS IT with them are they fookin blind.

I had blonde highlights put in once they came out pink.

animula · 22/12/2010 19:18

Go back and complain. Go back, see the manager, show the manage the picture, and complain. And 'phone their customer services too.

This happened to me at another salon. I stopped the cheque, and 'phoned and explained why. I didn't need to stop the cheque, as it turned out, because they returned it anyway, and were very apologetic. While they couldn't do anything about the hair length, they did offer me a sitting with their top colourist. So, their customer service was good ....

That, of course, may not be what you want, but I tell you this so that you know what sort of level of (grovelling) apology you are due.

Really, if you went in with a picture, to somewhere that well-known, they shouldn't be messing around with your hair to this degree.

piratecatClaus · 22/12/2010 19:20

i asked for a refund, and they wouldn't give me one. They said they would fix it. Yet i'd travelled quite far to get it done, and at the time dd was a baby.

So i didn't want to out of inconvenience, and becuase i didn't trust them.

Wrote to head office, they told me where to go really.

ended up going to a local salon, and has to pay £50 to have more blonde put over.

animula · 22/12/2010 19:24

piratecat - that is incredibly poor. I didn't take up the salon on the offer of a free colouring, for the same reasons as you (ironic, really, because years later I ended up paying to see the same colourist, and she was great, actually - but there you go,) - but at least they offered and they gave me the money back.

to not give you a refund is just Shock.

PressureDrop · 22/12/2010 19:25

I had an horrendous cut at T&G a couple of years ago. They just hacked into my hair, seemingly at random, to create the most awful, shaggy layers. The cut they gave me has never been in fashion. I was furious!

IAmReallyFabNow · 22/12/2010 19:28

I also had a cut at T & G. Actually I have been there twice. Service crap both times. One hair cut bearable. One not so much.

Boozilla · 22/12/2010 19:29

I remember another thread about Toni & Guy and someone who knows someone who works there said that they are told something like "all clients need to leave with one of these haircuts". They have a set style that they promote and basically everyone turns out the same!

I remember wanting my hair to be rough dried once because whenever they did a blow dry it always looked as flat as a pancake. They were not amused and basically said they wouldn't let me walk out of the salon looking like a mess with a rough blow dry. I pointed out that I would walk out there and then wearing the stupid tent they put on me...funnily enough they came around to my way of thinking! Grin.

It seems to be full of people who are not nearly as cool and trendy as they think they are in my experience!

deaddei · 22/12/2010 19:34

They scalped me when I was 8 months pregnant- 6 feet tall, 16 stone with a haircut like a pea on a drum
I still shudder when I think about it.

whoneedssleepanyway · 22/12/2010 19:45

if i were you i would go back in and say you aren't happy and stress the fact that the girl that styled it said to do this, there is nothing they can do about the length so what aboout getting them to sort the colour...perhaps if you went blonder again you would be happier with it.

go in and say something along the lines of "X did my hair and I really wasn't sure about it and she said to come back in if I wasn't happy and I have tried to live with it for a few days and get used to it but I really don't like it, it is much shorter and darker than I asked for, I know you can't do anything about the length but I would be really grateful if you would sort the colour out..."

BelleDeChocChipCookieMonster · 22/12/2010 20:07

I havn't been back since I had my hair cut there a few years ago. The bloke cutting it wouldn't cut it how I wanted Hmm

Monkeytoo · 22/12/2010 21:00

I had the same recently, showed a picture and ended up with it much shorter. It was like she just did what she thought would look best but not at all what I had asked for - frustrating. Plus (I have short hair) instead of cutting feathery pointed ish bits over my ears (if that makes sense) they did these weird straight angles. Hard to describe but have seen them on other people that get their hair cut there - it's like they just follow the most recent training they've had on set cuts, not what you ask for.

HSMM · 22/12/2010 21:17

A hairdresser once told me never to have my hair cut by someone with shorter hair than me. Apparently that's the way to avoid having too much cut off. Never been to Tony and Guy though.
