How about a wellibob?

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 02/12/2010 12:45

Hunter Duchess

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 02/12/2010 12:46

I mean huntress

nigglewiggle · 02/12/2010 12:47

I am quite ample-of-calf and Town and country fit me. Grin

MrsJohnDeere · 02/12/2010 12:54

Another vote for Huntress.

ICouldHaveWrittenThis · 02/12/2010 13:29

it's ridiculous, they're bloody enormous Blush

It's the one part of me that isn't fat as well Hmm it's just all muscle Grin

Will take a look at the suggestions, thanks :)

Another Hunteress wearer here!

happilyeverafter · 02/12/2010 13:52

How generous are the huntress wellies? My mum is around a size 18/20 and wanted wellies, would these likely fit her should I order her some?

orienteerer · 02/12/2010 13:54

Here

gailforce1 · 02/12/2010 14:18

I am huge of calf and the only boot I can find to fit are WOOFWEAR Long Boot. They have a rubber moulded foot/ankle and a fabric calf with side gusset and easy closing side fastenings. I have worn them in the snow and not felt close to slipping. They are fleece lined and extremely warm and snug. I am really please with them although they cost me £45.00!!

I have never managed to get Hunters anywhere near on!!

ICouldHaveWrittenThis · 02/12/2010 14:20

Hmm... I think I need to measure my calf and see exactly how ginormous they need to be, and then get other MNers to confirm welly circumference Grin

I also have big calves though they are getting smaller and need new wellies. Is it possible to buy them on line. Mind you, the delivery van probably wouldn't get through as we have tonnes of snow and are snowed in. It has been snowing for hours.

tulpe · 02/12/2010 14:38

I found the Huntress wellies too flappy and unflattering on my large-ish calves. The neoprene lined Hunters are wider than the standard ones and fit me very comfortably even with ski socks and jeans tucked in :)

5GoldenFimbos · 02/12/2010 14:39

Decathlon Inverness - will link in a minute

5GoldenFimbos · 02/12/2010 14:41

\link{http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/inverness-50-woman-black-91165520/\here} they also come in a variety of colours.

tartiflette · 02/12/2010 14:46

Some of the Hunters claim to be adjustable at the top - can anyone confirm whether they're any good for the large of calf?

tartiflette - you have made me very hungry as your namesake is my favourite meal during ski trips!! I digress but see my earlier post for info on Hunters and large calves :)

gailforce1 · 02/12/2010 14:51

Icouldhavewrittenthis calf measurement 17" add in long socks, thermal long johns and tucked in trousers make that, gulp, 18"!
Have just told DP abouth this and he says since I obviously don't have anything better to do I am to start on the Christmas cards - immediately!!

tartiflette · 02/12/2010 15:02

tulpe I know - YUM. Not good for the calves though Wink

tulpe · 02/12/2010 15:09

no, nor the ass and thighs!

matildarosepink · 02/12/2010 15:15

How about rigger boots if you want something warm/waterproof/grippy? Much better than wellies in so many ways...

Have a look at http://indiaknight.posterous.com/grippy-boots this recommendation by India Knight (ooh, I love that woman..)

matildarosepink · 02/12/2010 15:15

Sorry, disastrous attempt to post a link above, but hopefully you can get it to make sense!

InvaderZim · 02/12/2010 15:22

I love my mid-calf Muckboot brand boots, and as an added bonus, they're warm. :)

(Yes, large of calf, nothing else fits, even the Hunter ones. sigh)

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 02/12/2010 16:07

My Muckboot Derwent plus a pair of Welly socks gave me toasty feet sledging in the woods today plus have stood up well to dog walking and gardening.
