It is cut perfectly for an hourglass but it is out of stock everywhere

I am crying real tears, anyone have a secret stash of these or can offer something similar.

Fuck me, that's beautiful. Why did I not see it when it was in stock?

tethersend · 26/11/2010 11:26

Better link

matildarosepink · 26/11/2010 11:29

Copy and paste a link to a dressmaker from Folksy. (There are loads on there). It may be slightly illegal (?) but would cost a fraction of the retail cost and you'd have something even better made to fit. And you'd know a child in India somewhere didn't make it.. everyone wins!! Grin
I did that with a handbag last year, and the outcome was completely fab.

AngryPixie · 26/11/2010 12:09

I like your thinking matilda but I want it NOW NOW NOW and it is gorgeous tethersend and I have the prefect body to wear it, and perfect and body are not two words that often run together in my world Grin

AngryPixie · 26/11/2010 12:31

not nearly as nice? But I'm on a mission.

OP posts:
notinmypocket · 26/11/2010 12:53

maybe this

short sleeves though

Is it the 50's vintage look of it you're after or is it mainly the collar style?
I fear it's the combination of both? Grin

AngryPixie · 26/11/2010 13:04

Both utterly gorgeous in their way, but the Hobbs just worked on every level, the deep v for norks, arms covered, big emphasis on a small waist, perfect length.

I have boobs and hips but a tiny, by comparison, waist. I WANT THAT DRESS!!!!

whoneedssleepanyway · 26/11/2010 13:37

Why don't you ring both John Lewis and Hobbs and find out if anywhere has one and then pay for it on your credit card and pay for them to post it to you?

whoneedssleepanyway · 26/11/2010 13:37

You have probably tried this already...seen you say it is out of stock everywhere.

notinmypocket · 26/11/2010 13:46

I refuse to give up (slow day in the office) and had to go abroad for my search...they do ship though.
They have great dresses!

prety much it but blue

another blue

AngryPixie · 26/11/2010 13:58

Ooh, thank you not in my pocket that first blue dress has potential.

whoneedssleep I have tried to ring Hobbs but they have a big sale on and I can't get through, I've tried e-mailing too with a rather pathetic plea for help.

OP posts:
whoneedssleepanyway · 26/11/2010 14:12

ring john lewis too as it looks like they sell it so might be able to help.

AngryPixie · 26/11/2010 14:16

I want it soooooooooo badly Sad

OP posts:
AngryPixie · 26/11/2010 20:54

Bumping in case any evening MNers own one which they would like to sell to me Grin

OP posts:
knomedeplum · 26/11/2010 21:04

Have you called Hobbs? Direct and any stores near you/near relatives?? I do this all the time because I always stupidly 'wait' before buying things I love, they sell out and I get myself in a tizz... has mostly worked though

tulpe · 26/11/2010 21:15

OMG. I sent an almost identical copy of that dress to a charity shop this summer. Look on eBay for Zara copies of that dress.

AngryPixie · 26/11/2010 21:22

Heading off to ebay now tulpe I have already tried ebay for the dress but I'll hunt for Zara now.

overmydeadbody · 26/11/2010 21:24

AngryPixie when and where would you ever wear that dress?

I am curious.

AngryPixie · 26/11/2010 21:33

It would get endless wear from me, I go to lots of 'do's.

I also play a lot of poker, jeans for the dodgy card rooms, maxis for the casinos but I go to a few private games which have a breakfast at Tiffany, faded elegance feel to them. This dress would be perfect.

And I jive, and although I do a 1940s jive and this dress has a nod to the 50s and I try to wear vintage or VOH it would work for some of those events too.

I know this makes me sound like a complete weirdo but I need that dress in my life!

OP posts:
tethersend · 26/11/2010 23:03

It makes you sound a lot more interesting than me.

Lovecat · 26/11/2010 23:21

What size are you?

They have it on display in the window of the Liverpool St branch of Hobbs, I can pop in on Monday and find out if it's in your size if you like?

I have looked at it with longing and thought ooh, if only I had a waist... :)

AngryPixie · 27/11/2010 07:43

OMG lovecat Ideally a 12 but I would also buy it if it was a 14.

OP posts:
AngryPixie · 27/11/2010 07:46

Tethersend I only sound interesting because I didn't tell you the 'stuff' I wouldn't wear it for; school runs, the laundry that never ends, weeping with boredom pushing the swings at the park (when do they learn to do that themselves?), teaching, curling up on the sofa for x factor, clearing away the toys with the sense of impending doom that it will look the same tomorrow etc etc etc Grin
