Would it be very bad to buy the Kate Middleton dress?

Not because I'm a staunch royalist or anything, but because it looks really nice and I think it would suit me. (Not that I resemble Kate in any way). It's in tesco by the way. Is it too sad?

the short sleeves spoil the knock-off version IMO.

usualsuspect · 23/11/2010 16:44

Yes, it would be as bad as having a lady Diana haircut

Purplebuns · 23/11/2010 16:44

Link?
I think if it suits you and you can deal with other peoples comments then fine, I need a pic first, I think your main downfall is that it is from Tesco Wink

MarniesMummy · 23/11/2010 16:44

To which KM dress are you refering? Any chance of a link?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/11/2010 16:45

Grin Lady Diana Haircut!

Oh dear, I think I did actually have a lady d haircut 30 years ago. Can anyone see a trend developing?!

Perhaps she'll pass it on to you when she's finished with it. if you ask her nicely.

c0rns1lk · 23/11/2010 16:48

It's not very nice

indiechick · 23/11/2010 16:48

Sadly I think I could only fit one leg into her version, she's very slim. Hopefully Tesco do it in a size 16.

sethstarkaddersmum · 23/11/2010 16:49

I would love an actual replica, fitted to me as nicely as KM's dress was fitted to her (no-one I knew would notice it was KM's dress so it wouldn't matter, can't see DH realising for instance) but I don't believe a £16 version would cut it.

TrillianAstra · 23/11/2010 16:49

The long sleeves are nicer but difficult o get them exactly the right length.

I like the Tesco dress.

MarniesMummy · 23/11/2010 16:50

Go for it. The only similarity is that both dresses are blue.

MarniesMummy · 23/11/2010 16:52

Can't stop giggling about the diamonique ring!!

Seriously smart!Wink

GetOrfMoiLand · 23/11/2010 16:55

I would love the actual kate Middleton dress. I think she looks lovely in it.

Mind you I would have to arrange to shave 4 inches of each hip, and I am already slim. She is whippet thin, god damn her Envy

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 23/11/2010 16:58

Try this in blue instead (although is significantly more than £16... but significantly less than £399 too...

That Tesco version looks nothing like Kate's at all. I agree you would need to be tiny to suit it, I would look like the back end of a bus.

sowhatis · 23/11/2010 17:01

i dont think it looks anything like her dress. i wouldnt buy it on that basis if i wanted a KM dress, as it isnt one!

GetOrfMoiLand · 23/11/2010 17:03

Thesco did a mint green knock off of a Kylie Minouigue summer frock about 6 years ago which flew off the shelves and was being sold for silly money on ebay.

I got one and was as proud as punch, until I put it on. It made me look like Hattie Jacques.

tethersend · 23/11/2010 17:04

Closer

sethstarkaddersmum · 23/11/2010 17:08

the Isabella Oliver one is a bit of a harsh blue. You would have to dye it to that lovely subtle Kate Middleton shade.

miche8 · 23/11/2010 17:21

i love the colour of her dress, i think that colour would really suit me as i'm very pale skinned, black is way too harsh, i really like the style of hers, think it could be a classic and not date too quickly, i'm hoping someone else does a copy with the long sleeves.

I dont like the sleeves on the tesco one. I also think if you did buy it, no one would say omg you've got kates dress.

SickOnMyShoulder · 23/11/2010 18:01

If you are a 14 or 16 this looks much more flattering
