Would it be very bad to buy the Kate Middleton dress?

Not because I'm a staunch royalist or anything, but because it looks really nice and I think it would suit me. (Not that I resemble Kate in any way). It's in tesco by the way. Is it too sad?

Sorry, I don't know how to do links but Ingenue London have a better replica dress and QVC have the ring.

AnyFucker · 23/11/2010 19:11

If you are the kind of person who buys Royal Wedding memorabilia by the bucketload and displays it on your mantelpiece, go for it Grin

I think you will only look an arse if you team the dress with the ring.

PrematureEjoculation · 23/11/2010 19:18

i really like the long-sleeved one she wears.

the tesco ones looks pretty cheap, and the short sleeves make it a big no for me.

i like the other two - east & Isabella Oliver but they are really not the same dress as they wrap to the side.

yes, i would wear that dress. but not the tescos value version.

do you mean the one on the right ?

MummyBerryJuice · 23/11/2010 19:28

I bought the Isabella Oliver last year and the jersey just clung to my butt. Not very attractive at all (and I'm a size 8)

Matsikula · 23/11/2010 20:09

Are all dark blue jersey dresses going to be 'Kate Middleton' dresses from now on? Last week I was going to buy a White Company one (or a Day Birger and Mikkelson one, depending how much money I could convince myself to spend), but now like Ms Profiterole, I am not so sure.

The dress was pretty standard though, so it's not quite like having a Lady Di do. Is it?

PrematureEjoculation · 23/11/2010 20:14

collection here from a random 'look' collator

PointlessNastiness · 23/11/2010 20:15

yes

its a very average dress

applecrumbleandcream · 23/11/2010 20:21

I don't like the KM dress or Tesco's version. I think KM looks a bit frumpy in it tbh - it definitely doesn't look worth £399 - horrible shiny jersey fabric and it is a frumpy length on her.

Meggles76 · 23/11/2010 20:34

The KM dress and the Tesco are hardly similar. There are countless dresses like the Tesco one on the high street already.

sethstarkaddersmum · 23/11/2010 20:35

she needs to look a bit frumpy to prove to the royal family she will be ok as queen. Diana wasn't frumpy and look what they did to her....

notquitenormal · 23/11/2010 20:45

I already have several dresses exactly like it in similar colours for slobbing around in at the weekend Grin.

sethstarkaddersmum · 23/11/2010 20:51

surely KM's dress wasn't jersey anyway? It looked like silk to me.

indiechick · 23/11/2010 21:00

God you mumsnetters are good. Loving the Isabella Oliver one, but not sure about anything clinging to my butt, that's never going to look good. LMAO at the idea of wearing the ring and the dress. Maybe for fancy dress!

MummyBerryJuice · 23/11/2010 21:09

No, seth, I think you are right. Her's looks like (and almost certainly is) silk. And would fall in a much more flattering fashion.

sethstarkaddersmum · 23/11/2010 21:12

and can probably not be machine washed, would take ages to iron, would show up snot stains badly and would not be in the least suitable for anyone with children under 5 Grin

MummyBerryJuice · 23/11/2010 21:17

But perfect for tue Queen-to-be

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 23/11/2010 21:24

stuff clinging to butt is solved by a slip

Rollmops · 23/11/2010 22:10

Yes. It would be ridiculous.

vintage4 · 23/11/2010 22:23

Tesco dress cheap and nasty ..sorry

otchayaniye · 24/11/2010 07:48

I have the actual dress in teal, have had it for a while. Have a few in that style and a couple of wrap dresses and one tiered number. Thing is, I can't wear it now, can I!

diddl · 24/11/2010 09:09

I like the look of the Tesco one more than the Isabella whoever one tbh.

I think it would depend on material for the Tesco one.

I think Kate´s dress looks awfully cheap & clingy.
