I have a Christening soon (I'm GM) that I really need a gorgeous dress for.

I tried this Phase 8 dress on today and it's nice but not sure it's the one.

I'm a petite size 8.

As you're petite, I thought this dress might suit you better - also from Phase 8. Simpler.

That looks really mumsy to me Frizz, sorry! I'm mid 30's but dress young.

weepootle if you wear the one you linked to, you will look like you should be off somewhere milking goats.
Much prefer Frizz's!

MadameCastafiore · 09/11/2010 19:13

The first one looks like it has been screwed up at the bottom of a drawer for years and the second is nothing special - sort of thing one would wear to work IMO.

What about this more your age??

Clure · 09/11/2010 19:17

I'm a petite size 6/8 and find warehouse a good fit, how about
this
this, although may be a bit short?
this oasis dress also nice

weepootle · 09/11/2010 19:43

lovescatsanddogs: I'd rather look like I'm off to milk goats than look like I'm on my way for my blue rinse!

Madame: That dress is gorgeous, but a bit more £ than I'd like to spend.

Clure: Quite unbelievably, I already have the 2nd dress you linked to but in black. I love it and was considering wearing it although I'd be happier if it was the navy one. I'm not keen on the other 2 though- not really into embellishments.

Quite a different style from the others but I also like this type of thing.

weepootle · 09/11/2010 20:07

Another Warehouse one that I really like, but maybe a bit black?

dexter73 · 09/11/2010 20:10

I have this and love it. Looks much better in the flesh than in that pic! 20% off dresses at the moment.

Lovesdogsandcats · 09/11/2010 21:02

Ha Ha fair comment weepootle!
I like the black warehouse one, you can accessorize it for loads of different occasions.

tethersend · 09/11/2010 21:10

Is this too short?

coffeenut · 09/11/2010 21:16

I am a GM for a christening coming up and will wear my French Connection Bex dress v similar to some that have been linked to - will wear with black cigarette pants as I feel a bit too exposed (am 5'6). You are petite however so could prob wear with tights.

Bue · 09/11/2010 21:20

Wow, what kind of christening do MNers attend? My god tethersend, I would keel over and die from shock if a GM wore that dress! Grin

tethersend · 09/11/2010 21:24
Grin

A friend of mine wore it to a wedding and looked amazing- demure even! It didn't look as racy in real life...

weepootle · 09/11/2010 21:27

ShockShock tethersend! Not too tight, just too bodycon!!!

coffeenut, I adore the Bex dress. I almost bought it the first year it came out and have regretted it ever since. Maybe I'll try my Warehouse ethereal dress with thick opaque tights (usually go bare) and nice shoes.

Meeely3 · 09/11/2010 21:29

lurve madame's suggestion (adding to my new wardrobe wish list!)

I have the French Connection Sophia Dress which is a few seasons old now, but you can still get on ebay (which I did) - lurvely on very floaty!

tethersend · 09/11/2010 21:29

If I was a petite size 8, I'd wear that to Tescos Grin

tethersend · 09/11/2010 21:29

my link, that is

Bue · 09/11/2010 21:31

It was the bum shot of the dress that really got me!

weepootle · 09/11/2010 21:37

GrinGrinGrinGrin tethersend. Btw, petite size 8 doesn't mean I don't have a gut on me.

OP posts:
weepootle · 09/11/2010 21:38

and I meant to say "not too short" - it most definitely is too tight!

OP posts:
weepootle · 09/11/2010 21:40

I like the single breast shot myself Bue Grin.

OP posts:
weepootle · 09/11/2010 21:41

tethersend, you've given me the biggest belly laugh I've had in ages. What a suggestion!!!

OP posts:
Frawli · 09/11/2010 21:48

I quite like this one

The first one particularly lthough not sure if it comes with the white bit, might be a bit revealing for a christening without!

weepootle · 09/11/2010 21:51

That is lovely Frawli.
