I have had it lurking for over 2-3 weeks and bought it at John Lewis- so need to keep or take back.

I just need a simple not-too-posh dress for casual dinners out etc, or even daytime. Not for work or anything.

I quite like it, but the front pleat does give a maternity feel to it. Otherwise it is a good fit- I got the XS as am a 8-10 and petite.

I like one of their other dresses better, but it is sleevelss and means I'd have to wear a cardi. ( haven't got very toned arms)

I like it. I am guessing it is quite clingy, therefore avoiding a maternity dress look.

ps- you can get a better idea of the shape if you look at the blue shade- I got that but took back- love blue but in reality it was more dark navy.
My bust pushes the centre pleat out away from my tummy, so it def. looks a bit preggers.
Does that matter?

I'd wear it out for dinners - especially BIG dinners That front pleat will cover a multitude of sin!

purplepeony · 04/11/2010 17:19

It doesn't really cling- the top bit is well fitted and shows a modest amount of cleavage, but the front does hang forward, rather than cling to the body.

This is the other one I like, but it's totally different and maybe much more formal- and no sleeves.

I have tried this one on and LOVE it- but am waiting to see if it comes into the sale as it is a summer dress really- I know I would not get much winter wear. and again- cardi needed.

Purple - I have a similar kew dress that I bought to wear to a funeral.

Its fine as is the one you're looking at it but it doesn't make my heart beat faster.

I think with you're figure you could get something more exciting with sleeves.

purplepeony · 04/11/2010 18:04

Hm- thanks Tracy- that's what I felt too. I have a nice Phase 8 dress but it's slightly lower cut and has short sleeves. It is similar to this

www.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/warehouse/Dresses/Bertha-Dress/201156603

exactly same neckline but not quite so full skirt and in light grey ( I suit grey!)

I really like dresses with waists as i am quite small.

What about this or this?

purplepeony · 04/11/2010 18:13

both are lovely shapes but I don't suit black Sad
I have also bought a white company dress- which is going back- it's on Otter- but the viscose material is horrible. I like the WC skaters dress but the £££ is quite a lot.

The oasis one also comes in red.

But it is hard finding long sleeved dresses that aren't frumpy.

FolornHope · 04/11/2010 18:22

phase eight one is mumsy

FolornHope · 04/11/2010 18:23
