NAh, we have white all the time. Light loads of candles, they wil not notice

bran · 30/10/2010 18:06

I have posh stuff that was a wedding present that we wheel out for proper dinners. It's a bit of a pain though as it can't go in the dishwasher.

brimfull · 30/10/2010 18:07

brimfull · 30/10/2010 18:13

I need robust stuff in this house

traceybath · 30/10/2010 18:20

I also broke all our waterford crystal. Only buy cheap glasses now - I am not to be trusted.

bran · 30/10/2010 18:32

We had some beautiful Waterford crystal glasses. DH was washing up after the first time we used them (I wanted to leave them so I could do them in the morning as DH was drunk). I told him to put them on a tea towel to drain, he put them directly on the draining board because I was "making a fuss". Hmm We still have them but can't drink out of them because of the dangerous chips.

alemci · 30/10/2010 18:35

i love getting the nice stuff out. have royal doulton that i don't use much as it has to be handwashed but i do like to use it. i also use different cutlery etc and proper napkins.

hf128219 · 30/10/2010 18:58

Use different stuff and antique coloured crystal glass.

overmydeadbody · 30/10/2010 19:13

Nope.

All my stuff is good stuff Grin. No such thing as everyday here.

notyummy · 30/10/2010 19:16

Yep, we do.

Although it is plain white so goes with everything. Just better quality plain white. Don't use it everyday so we can keep a full set of 12, which wouldn't happen if I used it all the time - would keep braking it!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 30/10/2010 19:19

plain white crockery but years ago I collected some really really lovely cutlery from the co-op, tis doulton, which we use for Best

dexter73 · 30/10/2010 19:45

I don't like like plain white plates. They look like you are in a cafeteria!

Oh no dexter I love plain white plates! I had some of that hideous olive/terracotta stuff in the 90's - come on we all did Wink

And swore to plain white after I managed to leave that with an ex.

alemci · 30/10/2010 21:09

i find plain white shows up scratches and our dishwasher seems to mark them.

dexter73 · 30/10/2010 21:14

I can honestly say I have never had olive/terracotta plates tracey!
Actually we have Spode that was dh's parents wedding present. It is quite loud but I like it!

dexter73 · 30/10/2010 21:15

I mean it was their wedding present not their wedding present to us!

SixtyFootGhooool · 30/10/2010 21:17

I have a lovley Wedgewood dinner set that was a wedding pressnt that i still add pieces to.
It only gets used for friends coming over and Xmas - so about once a yr then!

happilyeverafter · 30/10/2010 21:19

We just have one set of plain white Denby which is used for everything.

When we bought our house the trend was for square plates which DH wanted and I refused - so pleased that I did as I don't like those at all now.

dexter73 · 30/10/2010 21:22

In fact they gave us so much stuff like soup tureens and serving plates etc. that I sold off all the excess stuff at auction and got £800!!
