I just bought this dress, but not convinced yet. Is it nice and what shoes should I wear with it?

this one

It's for black tie dos and Christmas parties.

Have no idea what shoes to team it with, or whether I can wear tights or not with it?

I would say either nude or black heels. Nude fishnet tights, or possibly black opaques?

overmydeadbody · 28/10/2010 15:23

Nude heels? Gosh.

Thanks. Do you like the dress?

would these work?

Is it as shiny as it looks on the model? I don't think it suits her tbh, she is too fair and blonde. If you are darker it may look better

notyummy · 28/10/2010 15:25

I do like it - think it is a pretty colour. Nude heels really useful for leg lengthening purposes - go with pretty much anything!

Only I would say is that depending on your height it could look a bit short for more traditional black tie dos.

BooBooImpaledOnBrokenGlass · 28/10/2010 15:26

No no no to the shoes. Too shiny and the faux wood heel is too daytime.
If going nude, go suedey I think, though I'm not convinced nude shoes would go tbh. I would get ones to match the metallic part of the dress

notyummy · 28/10/2010 15:26

Need higher than those heels, and not with the wooden effect. hang on, will have a look.

notinmypocket · 28/10/2010 15:27

Nude tights and black heels and I like the dress

DurhamDurham · 28/10/2010 15:27

I think sheer tights would be ok, it's a lovely dress but what length is it one you? On the model it looks neither long nor short, but then she's prob v tall!

overmydeadbody · 28/10/2010 15:27

OH dear.

No it is not as shiny as in the picture. And I am more of a dark blonde.

I am worried now though. It is not that short. Everythin else was so boring and black.

I hate going out of my comfort zone. I always get it wrong.

Agree with Booboo, not nude shoes, def go for metallic ones to pick up the detail on the dress.

BunnyLeBOOwski · 28/10/2010 15:29

omdb that's really really lovely. Adore the colour.

I would say no to nude heels. Just not right with such a jewel coloured dress.

How about a dark metallic/pewter shoe to tie in with the embellishment on the dress?

Or black as a safe option. Would look great.

I think black opaques would look the best tights-wise.

DurhamDurham · 28/10/2010 15:29

You haven't got it wrong, it's lovely. I look awful in dresses that end at the knee, they either have to be a bit shorter (with thick tights!) or longer.

overmydeadbody · 28/10/2010 15:29

Durham on me it is just above knee length, but with the full skirt my knees don't really show.

Would paptent black heels work?

aDarkStarWithStrangeWays · 28/10/2010 15:30

I like the dress!

I'd probably do something stupid with it like v v dark opaques and black gold sparkly heels. iyswim. Heels to match the yoke, so not really any colour but with a dark goldy sparkle to them.

BunnyLeBOOwski · 28/10/2010 15:31

These could be good?

overmydeadbody · 28/10/2010 15:31

ok.

Feel better now. Like the idea of metalic shoes to go with the jewels on the front.

Mayb e I'll take a piure of myself in it for a better opinion?

OP posts:
notyummy · 28/10/2010 15:31

Was thinking more of this - but also like the metallic suggestion.

bishboschone · 28/10/2010 15:32

yeah I was going to say pewter shoes, nude are usually matt or shiny plastic looking, some nice pewter slingbacks would be nice. lovely dress by the way.

overmydeadbody · 28/10/2010 15:32

Bunny I like those. Never owned any shoes as funky as that Grin

DurhamDurham · 28/10/2010 15:33

Oh yes a picture would help!
Black patent shoes would be my choice too.

notyummy · 28/10/2010 15:34

These in grey or black.

notyummy · 28/10/2010 15:36

Or these in the black.

notyummy · 28/10/2010 15:40

or these in either colour.
