don't eat ANY wheat.

eat rice crispies for breakfast, soup for lunch and chicken/fish and vegetables for tea.

Cut out carbs?

Jason Vale detox?

Spanx?

aristomache · 25/10/2010 23:13

cut out all carbs - it will work. and drink as much water as you can

hobbgoblin · 25/10/2010 23:15

i always eat protein only for a few days and it works.

atah · 25/10/2010 23:22

no carbs whatsoever. water and probiotic drinks

happenedagain · 25/10/2010 23:26

ok no carbs it is, do you think i will loose weight in that short amount of time? Or just make my belly go down a little? either one wold be good...

Any suggestions for meal planning?

Breakfast is the one i will struggle with the most.

The scales will drop but that may well be fluid loss...

You will feel slimmer so look slimmer, remember that :)

Breakfast is my hardest carb free meal too so I used to skip it but you can try eggs in various forms, bacon, sausages, etc.

I ended up having a few cubes of cheese and a slice of ham whilst I made DC packed lunches and that kept me going til lunch! Also resorted to chocolatey Atkins bars when desperate.

SoloBlackWidowSpidersWebSite · 25/10/2010 23:35

Have eggs for breakfast.

Cut out anything that would swell up in liquid (oats, rice, wheat etc). They will swell in your gut and bloat your tummy.

happenedagain · 25/10/2010 23:37

hobbgoblin - what are these chocolatey atkins bars??? i love chocolate, that is probably why i'm feeling so rubbish at the moment as I have overdosed on it in the last few weeks...

here They are pretty tasty for a non-proper treat Grin but will make you poo for England if you consume too many. This, however, will also make you lighter of course!

aristomache · 25/10/2010 23:40

Cutting out carbs will cause you to lose mainly water to start with - but I have lost 5lbs in a week doing it(3 stone altogether)

as someone else said, try a high protein diet - breakfast, you could have fruit and a fat free yoghurt(I use a vanilla muller light over a chopped up banana)

happenedagain · 25/10/2010 23:48

i think i will by some asap as have not been able to go to the toilet properly for a while, so that could be helpful, and there is no carbs in them?

3staone thats really good, how did you loose the rest?

I only need to loose about half a stone, i would love to loose 5lbs in a week,...

They work on principle of net carbs which I only vaguely understand but they are suitable for a GI/low carb diet and even Induction phase of Atkins allows a few carbs, just not starchy ones which you need to steer
WELL clear of if you want to minimise belly swelling.

I'm not overweight particularly but can look considerably slimmer after about 2-3 days of protein diet...you'll look and feel great for Sat!

happenedagain · 25/10/2010 23:57

brillant, thanks, i feel better already :)

also i might possibly have IBS, i have looked online and there is a diet which is mainly protien and veg which is meant to help, so cant see this diet being a problem if i do have IBS.

i was reading about new atkins they mentioned chickpeas, so now i'm wondering if there are many carbs in hommus?

OP posts:
happenedagain · 26/10/2010 00:22

also do u think a steam or sauna would help shed a bit of weight? not sure if it would make my skin worse tho as it has been bad recently...

Protein, fybogel and loads of water. You can even eat fatty stuff like cheese as long as nay a carb passes your lips.

And stock up on the Atkins choc bars, I swear by them too!

ooooozathon · 26/10/2010 00:37

Superdrug and big Tescoes do the bars too.

NotAnotherChinHair · 26/10/2010 07:16

As a short fix I second the cutting out carbs completely; also, don't eat fruit or dairy. Just vegetables and lean protein and up to 3 litres of water a say.

NotAnotherChinHair · 26/10/2010 07:16

a day sorry

MrsSnaplegs · 26/10/2010 07:38

Celery, watermelon and grapes are all natural diuretics so will help if any of it is retained water.

happenedagain · 26/10/2010 10:11

Thank you all for the tips.

I am trying to work out if i can eat hommus as could eat that with raw veg.

Per 100g It has:

Carbs: 10.1g
of which sugars: 2.5g
of which starch: 7.6g

Fibre: 6.5g

so does that mean to get net carbs I do 10.1-6.5= 3.6g.

what are your thoughts on that?

WARNING: I've just started on atkins (day 7) so no carbs at all and i can tell you that until today I've felt so rough that there is no way I would have gone out. I felt really hungover and had a splitting headache. So if you want a flat tummy I wouldn't advise doing the low carb thing short term - you really won't feel like going out in 3 days time. Maybe drink more water, so you're not holding onto any water in your system. Anyway is anyone going to notice if you're stomach's not flat?
