Linda headaches when first doing Atkins are apparently to do with not drinking enough water and also missing out on electrolytes - important to drink bare water, 3 litres is a good figure as mentioned above, and a good vit pill.

OP no point faffing about with hummus - just stuff yourself with bacon, eggs, chicken and steaks, accompanied by creamy sauces and piles of green veg!

Atkins is def the most effective thing you can do, but it does mean no cheating.

Thanks OOz. I did drink the required amount of water but still headache. Anyway I'm over it now and feel loads better. I'm really into this way of eating. If feels so right. Have you lost much eating this way. check out the daily mail article today about how low carb leads to longer life!

I love eating like this too :) I lost about a stone, and am continuing to eat high protein, I do have treats but my blood sugar is much more stable bow, I don't need or crave crap in my afternoon slump or in the evenings now.

Going to check out the DM article now - I'm quite evangelistic about it, but everyone who knows is convinced it's unhealthy because of the high fat content.

I just see most carbs as random, unnutritional puff now.

when i have a big night coming up i have omelette for breakfast. and sip cups of homemade soup all day (usually a cup/bowl every hour from noon till 6pm). Dinner is grilled chicken/salmon and veg.

I make a vat of soup to keep me going and have as much as i want. My fave is spicey tomato:
Put 1 large onion (quartered) 2 sticks celery & 2 carrots roughly chopped, 2 whole cloves garlic, 4 tbsp red lentils, 1 tin chopped toms, 2 tbsp tom puree, 1 whole red chilli/tsp chilli powder/chilli flakes & 1 veg stock cube into a large saucepan. fill the empty tom can with water 3 times and add to the pan. Bring to a simmer and when all veg/lentils are cooked blend with a hand blender (add more water if too thick/simmer if too thin). i also add dried oregano or ground cumin if i fancy it (it is a moveable feast really).

I also try to have lots of sex (if you even needed an excuse) - it really firms up my stomach mussels, orgasms increase heart rate, make you feel sexy/attractive (half the battle really) and take your mind off being hungry!

celery is really good for getting rid of bloat.

happendagain. Try colonic hydrotherapy, if you have a good reputable practitioner nearby. Not at all scary.

Go to a health food shop and get some digestive enzymes capsules. I started taking them a week or so ago as as slim but have terrible bloating and they have made a massive difference, and worked quite quickly too. Also aloe vera capsules are good if you have this problem.

Don't drink anything fizzy including sparkling water or wine Wink, just adds to bloating. I've had probs with bloating & have been taking a multivitamin & seems to be a lot better, although may be coincidence.

otchayaniye · 27/10/2010 15:02

Cut out carbs. Meat, eggs and nothing else (save maybe some salad leaves)

Drink a pint of water on waking, midmorning, before lunch, before dinner, in the evening.

Avoid alcohol

No caffeine

otchayaniye · 27/10/2010 15:06

On top of the meat fast, do this every day - it's not super hard core and only 10 mins but you'll see a difference as it does help the transverse muscles and pulls you in.

Did it work OP?
