Heeled boots over skinny jeans - classy or brassy?

Title says it all.
Black heeled boots, grey skinny jeans - or should I stick to flat biker boots or heeled shoes?

i think it looks nice. i have some super high knee high leather boots which i wear over skinny jeans. how high are your heels?

apple99 · 25/10/2010 13:33

I am not keen on heeled boots over jeans, just my opinion though, am sure others will disagree.

3WiseMumsies · 25/10/2010 13:35

I think it depends on the heel type, your age, shape and the occasion.

flibbertigibbert · 25/10/2010 13:43

Boots with a pointed toe and slim heel = brassy IMO.

Rounder toe boots with more of a chunky heel look fine though.

LynetteScavo · 25/10/2010 13:46

It depends on your coat.

BridesheadRegardless · 25/10/2010 13:51

Brassy.

But brassy can be classy if you are young thin beautiful and rich.

The rest of us need to be more careful.

coffeenut · 25/10/2010 14:51

Agree with Brideshead - but very very few could pull it off.

I would look completely trashy. My "flat" biker boots have a chunky heel however - they are 4 cm which is enough to give a bit of a lift.

Faaamily · 25/10/2010 14:56

I think it's fine. Much better than heeled boots under jeans. Just not stiletto heels or those horrible pull on, stretchy material boots that M&S wheel out every year.

spookerv1xen · 25/10/2010 15:17

i hope i can pull it off, its one of my favourite autumn/winter outfits! :o

traceybath · 25/10/2010 15:31

Its a leetle bit dated now - I used to do this but suddenly its just too Liz Macdonald.

Chunky heel fine.

Coddywhump · 25/10/2010 15:35

im almost over knee boots totally

ankle ones look so much better

even my crappy next ones

BridesheadRegardless · 25/10/2010 15:40

My DH bought me the leopard skin ankle boots from Boden as a suprise.(bekieve me it wa s asurprise)

I wore them last night with black skinny jeans and black top (marks one recommeneded on here last year I think we all have it.)

I think it was brassy yet classy, but I could be wrong as I am niether skinny rich or beautiful.

I ma big inot ankle and shoe boots this year.

Knee boots still OK with a skirt. I think.

steaknife · 27/10/2010 09:18

Thank you the lovely mumsnet.

In the end wore my biker boots - comfort.
I am not young or rich but am thin - so 1 out of 3 not bad.

Wear whatever you feel comfortable and that you look nice in. I think people get judged enough as it is without starting on clothing and shoes...

nancydrewrocked · 27/10/2010 09:25

It depends on the boot but anything with a stiletto heal does in my opinion look brassy (and very out of fashion if those things are of concern to you)

kuckingfunt · 27/10/2010 13:30

I agree its a bit dated, 5 years ago maybe! Can look ok if its on the right person, but a very out of fashion look if you are trying to get the fashionable look.

partyhats · 27/10/2010 13:43

Bit out of date now. Much prefer mid calf and ankle boots over jeans, either flat or chunky low heel.

mrmagoo · 27/10/2010 17:00

Well how come then on this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1069689-Are-these-boots-a-bit-naff the op's chunky heeled ankle boots were slated as "mumsy" ? I'm just like totally not getting the whole boot business this year. Chunky heels. Mumsy or not?

NannyPatsSausagePlait · 27/10/2010 17:27

My heeled boots lie untroubled at the bottom of the cupboard. So far have only worn biker boots, ankle boots and shoe boots

i think it does look a bit dated

vintage4 · 27/10/2010 18:48

i still mantain knee high boots look the best whatever you are wearing.Mid calf ones just draw attention to fat legs

HellaVita · 27/10/2010 19:04

I am 5ft (but slim) and need some new boots - which do you think out of these would look better with skinny jeans tucked in?

these?

maybe?

I like these but slightly out of my price range

ENormaSnob · 27/10/2010 20:04

Pointed toe or skinny heel looks dated IMO.

BettyMoody · 27/10/2010 20:19

biker is out
everyone has ankle boots wiht jeans flopped in
you look like these

NannyPatsSausagePlait · 27/10/2010 23:35

I dont agree vis a vis Biker.

MarshaBrady · 27/10/2010 23:38

Chunkier heel. Not black.

Not pointy or skinny heel.

Good legs and indigo or grey sknnies.

yep it is possible
